  2. Question: What is the correct address? 1. First you live in one State, your income is derived from that State 2. Now you live in another State. You have been here since the beginning of 2009 (no income was derived from this State in 2008) Do you enter the State address where you received your income, question 1 or it it where you live now, question 2? Question: Are you required to do two State returns according to the above questions, or just one State? Thanks for your response.

    Efile Status

Thanks HVKen. Now I have "Accepted" in the Federal efile status box and "IRS Cleared" in the State Status box.

    Efile Status

Thanks for responding. When I go to the ATX Website CCH status box says it has been accepted. Does that mean it has been accepted by CCH but not yet accepted by the IRS. In the program, in my efile manager the status box still reads, "transmitted to agency." How long does it take for the status box to read, "accepted?" When a return is accepted by the IRS and State, how do we know that it has taken place. Sorry to ask the same questions as before. Hope you that have had a lot of experience can share with me the answers to these questions.

    Efile Status

Question: How long does it take the efile manager status info to change from the words "transmitted to agency" to the words "accepted?" Question: How does those efilers out there know that the IRS has received the return that was sent? It sure would be nice to have an email sent to say that the return has been received and accepted by the IRS. It sure would be nice to have the email say that the refund would be sent to client in a written number of days, for example 10 days. Just some questions since I am new to using the ATX efiling system. Question: How long does it take after efiling a return that a client receives their refund? I have used ATX since 1999
  6. I have used a P.O. Box number for years because we have to go to the post office to deliever and pick up our mail. The post office personal does not deliever mail to our physical address.
  7. I tried that but it doesn't work. I have Form 1040 (version 48)
  8. Question: what is the number for tech support for PRS users? It looks like they have changed the number from what I used many years?
  9. Question: 1. How do you get the Rounting No. and Account No. to transfer to Form 1040 (page 2)? 2. Is there anyway to do it without going the Efile route? 3. What are the steps?
  10. How would you deduct on Schedule C the purchase of a vacuum cleaner? Is it possible to use section 179 and deduct the total amount? The vacuum cleaner was purchase in regard to a house cleaning business.
  11. On (page 66) of "1040 Instructions" (Paid Preparer Must Sign Your Return) it says, "...Someone who prepares your return but does not charge you should not sign your return."
  12. ERC, thanks for getting the unofficial ATX Community back up and running.

    Tax Credit

Thanks JRS!!! If the answer you gave only reduces withholding on a W-2, then there is no other line on Form 1040.

    Tax Credit

Question: Is there a $500 credit for workers and $1,000 credit for a couple that has been passed by the legislature? If there is, what line of Form 1040 are we looking at? Where is the documentation about this in IRS Material?
  15. I've already research that, (if you don't pay estimated tax) it is March 2, 2009 An owner of an H&R Block (tax preparer) mentioned a later date that the return is due and I want to see what those in this community regard as when the return is due?
  16. Question: If a farmer does not pay estimated taxes: when is he requried to file his return and not have to pay a penalty? Question: If a farmer does not pay estimated taxes: when is he required to file his return if he pays a penalty? What are the dates in which a farmer must file his return?
  17. Thanks for responding!!! Another question: If the S-Corporation makes a distribution of cash to the owner/shareholder do you include that distribution on line 16d of the 1120S return? In looking at the 2007 Kleinrock's 1120S sample return they have a distribution on Schedule M-2, line 7 (distribution other than dividend distribution) but not an amount in the section "items affecting shareholder basis (16d). If you have an amount on schedule k-1 (16d) does this same amount go on the 1120S in the two places mentioned in the paragraph above? Why doesn't the sample 2007 Kleinrock return have the distribution in both places?
  18. Does anyone know this answer?
  19. My question is: "If you as owner/shareholder of an S-Corp pay yourself a distribution (cash), do you put that amount on Schedule K-1 (Form 1120S)?
  20. Same here, I have program version 2008 6.134
  21. Look at "1040" instructions (2008); line 39c; Realestate taxes (p. 34) "Your standard deduction is increased by the state and local real estate taxes you paid, up to $500 ($1,000 if married filing jointly). The real estate taxes must be taxes that would have been deducted on Schedule A if you had itemized your deductions." It does mentioned in that paragraph other taxes that you cannot deduct to increase your standard deduction.

    Update Forms

Here is how I double check whether my forms are up-to-date. Go to MyATX Support Center; click on download center; click on 2008 form update, click on FEDS, click next. I even print this list so that I don't have to go to the site all the time. After you do this you will see a list of forms with their version number and whether or not they have been approved. I then do a right click on the form in my ATX program to see if it matches the version in MyATX Support center. This is how I check to see if I have the last version. You can also check other forms that may not be approved.
  23. I have Windows XP (SP3) on my computer and it is working ok. I have the Pay-Per-Return ATX program and have no problems.
  24. Thanks for responding!! I was wondering if you could lower the wages and pay more in distributions.
  25. The 2008 organizer is included in the 2007 ATX program. If you had clients in 2007 you can bring the organizer in by adding forms as you do any other forms. Go to MyATX Support Center Go to download Center Go to prior year updates Go to 2007 Form updates Click on FEDS Click on Next Close to the bottom of the list generated you will see (organizer 2008) You can then download that organizer to the 2007 ATX program. You can then bring it into the client's return. You find this in the 2007 ATX program so you must have the 2007 ATX program especially if you want to get last years information to be on it.
