    Form 2555

In the ATX program at the bottom of Form 2555 there is a tab called "earned inc. allocation." When you click on that tab you will find these codes listed. Where do you find instructions concerning these codes?

    Form 2555

Where do you find instructions concerning the various codes in Form 2555? For example: Code D; Code E; Code F; Code G There are other codes as well. Which code am I to use if a person has been in a foreign country since Jan. 1, 2005 and now is in the U.S. (came back June 5, 2008) in order to raise money to go back to the same foreign country? It talks about direct assignment ratios and etc.
  3. New program version is 2008.8.162
  4. You are required to pay yourself a reasonable wage if you are the owner of an S-Corporation. This means the S-Corporation must give you a W-2 Other money can be given to you in distributions.
  5. Cisco is a company. One type of cisco switch is a local-area network (LAN) switch that provides high-speed connectivity, applications, and communications systems.

    Form 1098-T

The 1040 Express Answers on page 13-14 says: "Qualified Education Expenses include the following: 1. Tuition and certain related expenses required to enroll in an eligible insitution. 2. Student activity fees and expenses for course-related books, supplies and equipment are included in qualified expenses only if the fees and expenses must be paid to the institution as a condition of enrollment. 3. Expenses that do not qualify include room and board, travel, and clerical help. I have never seen a 1098T like this. I usually see a bigger amount in box 2

    Efile

You will find the answer in Document 974. "IRS Cleared--this status indicates that a piggyback or state-only return has been transmitted to the IRS, has passed the IRS/Federal validation process, and will be forwarded by the IRS to the appropriate state for processing. The state will send an acknowledgment to ATX when they have processed the return." (Look in the ATX Knowledge Base) All of my State Piggybacks before they were accepted had IRS Cleared. After I waited for a few days and did the daily updates, I clicked on receive acks and the IRS cleared changed to accepted. There are other definitions also in the above document.
  10. It is now 2008.7.157
  11. Thanks Wayne!!!!!
  12. What I had to do to correct the problem was the following: 1. Delete the 1099R that was causing the problem 2. Delete the OK 511 form 3. Inter the information again on the 1099R (I had not missed entering any information previously--I entered the same information both times.) 4. Install the OK 511 form When I did this the State tax withheld on the 1099R was shown now on the OK 511 form. Some reason it was not flowing over until I deleted the OK 511 form and re-installed it. I had up-to-date versions of both the 1099R and the OK 511 before deleting them. I wonder why this is happening--It has not happened to me in the past? Thanks for you that have responded!!!!
  13. The 1099R has in box 10 ($18) and in Box 11 (OK) I have entered that information in the ATX program's 1099R but the $18 does not show up in tax withheld on the OK 511 form. Why? I have other 1099R amounts that did show up but this one did not.
  14. Julie, the 1099R has the $18 there. It does not carry over to Oklahoma 511 form.
  15. I am working on a client's return. The client received a 1099R as a result of a Colorado Pera plan. The client lives in Oklahoma. The 1099R has $18.00 listed in box 10 (State Tax withheld). In box 11 it has as the State, (OK) listed. When I look at the Oklahoma Return (Form 511, line 23 "Oklahoma withholding") I don't see this $18 entered. Why is this happening? Has anyone had this same problem? What did you do about it? Thanks for your responses!!!!
  16. Then what is the cost for both?
  17. It sure would be nice if their was a fee chart out there to help preparers. Car mechanics have something to look at when they repair your car, how many hours it will take. For example: 1. Form 1040 (fee) 2. State Return (fee) 3. Form 1040 (Schedule A) (fee) 4. Form 1040 (Schedule F) (fee) 5. Other forms Thanks for your comments.
  18. The State of Kansas has a place to check when the taxpayer is engaged in farming.
  19. I believe all CRP payments must be included on either: 1. Form 1040 (schedule F) for farmers 2. Form 4835 for non-farmers who own land in which they receive the CRP payment.
  20. Sorry, OldJack, KC has given the anser above.
  21. Is not the return due on March 2 this year because March 1 is on Sunday?
  22. In 2008 "The Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 excludes CRP payments from self-employment tax for individuals receiving social security benefits...This is effective for payments received after December 31, 2007." See the instructions for line 1b on Schedule SE (form 1040). This new rule saves a person a lot of money. (If you click on the bunny, line 12 of the worksheet gives you the place to enter the CRP payment received) Have you seen this great benefit?
