Thanks, Jack. I forgot about the acknowledgements needed. She definitely could not get a written acknowledgement, if needed, because they were from 2010. Most likely, she didn't ask them to reimburse her in a timely fashion and wants to avoid the 2% haircut, because she makes a very good living working there.

I am still trying to research this, but have not been able to find anything definite to show my client. She wants to know if she can use unreimbursed employee business expenses as a charitable contribution because she is employed by a non-profit. I don't know what kind of expenses they are. I will find out more when she actually gives me the information for the two years of back taxes. I'm didn't find anything that tells me that she can't deduct them. If she wrote them a check, it would be a contribution. I do think that if meals and entertainment are involved, they should only be deducted at 50%. Does anyone know if there is a reason that she is unable to write them off as a contribution, instead of as employee business expenses? Thank you.

I should have checked online earlier. They started it in 2007 with the wife as the manager. That's all that I can see without paying for it. The registered agent is some national registered agent office so they must be filing the bienniel reports, which is why I am not seeing it. I have a feeling that the company that set them up, did not discuss any tax ramifications with them. They are sending me the paperwork when they get back to town later this week.

I will have to check and see if they are both driving for any reason. She just rode along before, but they didn't tell me about the LLC so anything is possible. They just mail me their info every year and have not changed anything on the organizer. Maybe I will get lucky and she is still just a passenger and I'm not normally very lucky.

I have a married couple that have been trucking for many years. In preparing their 2011 return, I noticed that their new tractor was titled in the name of an LLC. The last one is 2009 was in the husband's name only. The income has always been reported by the husband as the checks were written to him. I called and asked the wife who the owner of the LLC is and she replied both of them. She replied that they started it four years ago. I asked why they didn't tell me and why the last truck was still in his name ? They didn't think that it was important since it was just for liability purposes, according to their lawyer. I told her that they had formed a partnership and it has not been filed as a partnership at all. They are going to send me the LLC agreement when they get back to town. Now, I have four years of late partnership returns with penalties and this year isn't even on extension. It doesn't look like it can qualify as a joint venture since they used the LLC. I think that the taxes should be ok, since the would be treated the same way. I don't even know how to handle the old assets still being titled in his personal name. I have engagement letters and they did not note any changes on the organizers. They are going to love the bills for all of the amended returns and the first year is closed. I am going to scream, because I don't have time to do all of this additional work. Does anyone know if there is any way to lessen the pain of filing amended returns back to 2008 and all three partnerships? Thanks for any advice.

I'm sorry KC. Shingles are terrible. I'm sure that all of the stress did not help. I hope that they go away soon.

Thanks, KC, we think he has done really well. He has helped me more than I thought anyone could by explaining things to me and helping me face my fears. I don't have to take sedatives to fly on jets anymore and even will fly with him in the single engine planes. When I think how much I missed by my paralyzing fear of flying for my entire life, it's kind of sad. I turned down jobs that included travel and great trips. Now II may be able to get to London someday.

Drones are one of the reasons that he did not try the Air Force. (Besides his brother has already done two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and I don't want to go through it again if possible) He is hoping to get on with a business jet or the airlines after college. I don't think that they can fly people in drones yet.

Thanks everyone.

My son turned 18 today and passed the tests to receive his commercial pilot's license. This is the first day that he was legally allowed to do so. He had a goal for the last three birthdays to solo, get his private and instrument rating and his commercial and managed to do them all. That's a lot of student loans that he won't have to pay for in college. He is applying now to fly skydivers, which is much better than crop dusting. I want him to have a lot more flight time before he does that, if ever. Bonnie

I'm still here. I have quarterly payroll taxes, property taxes and a ton of extensions to do. Then I will get caught up on my bookkeeping. I have so much housework to catch up on and trying to get ready for my son's high school graduation and party.

I would say that a good hammer or sledge hammer would do the trick. Make sure that you can hear broken stuff moving around after you beat it.

That is wonderful news.

Jack, Do you have a fairly young clientel? I've had many of my clients for 20-30 years and I don't know that most of them would accept flash drives, but it sounds like a great idea and a time saver for me to try with some of my more techy clients. My executive assistant was helping my brother-in-law and a neighbor redo a bathroom for our son's graduation party for the last three weeks. It was very difficult for me to do everything, but I really wanted the bathroom finished. My biggest problem is getting people to leave and let me work.

It was accepted and I made notes on the 8879. Thanks.

Thanks so much to everyone for the help that they have given to me over the years. I don't really have anyone to ask questions of except online, so it is a life saver. I enjoy reading all of the posts and learn something new all of the time.

I don't know how you could deal with 400 by yourself, Jack. You must be much more dedicated than I am. Since I moved my business home, my husband said that he knows now why my clients stay with me. He asked my how I don't go crazy being their CPA, psychiatrist , marriage counselor and friend. It's very difficult to keep my fact time down with them, which means work until 2 or 3 at night to get caught up. I am so tired today. I wanted to take the day off, but I see that is harder to do with my office here. I have a ton of extensions to prepare and business clients so that keeps some cash flow going.

Thanks. I was really worried that I would get in trouble.

I just noticed that I transmitted a return with the wrong date for the date signed. I don't know what I was thinking, because I dated it for tomorrow and they signed tonight. Now what do I do? I am just too tired and made a mistake. Thanks.

John, I am very sorry.
