  1. I am open today, but don't any appointments scheduled. We are having our Easter with the kids and grandkids here tomorrow evening, so I will be able to come downstairs and work while they are here. Sunday we have to go to my family, but I won't be able to stay for long, because I don't even want to think about how many returns I have left to prepare.
  2. She can't drink any red, blue or purple gatorade, which I think pretty much leaves lemon lime. There are probably a few others, but it's probably better than the old stuff.I know that I need to get one this year, but not until after 4/15.
  3. My sister is having one soon and they are just having her take a bunch of dulcolax and gatorade. I guess they have discovered that this will do the job as well as the other stuff. I guess we will find out if it works for her.
  4. Thanks, KC. I had never heard that and it does take forever to kill the smell.
  5. I'm glad that I don't have many people coming today. My husband is fixing corned beef and cabbage. I don't have enough air fresheners to kill that smell.
  6. I had this problem for ages. I added admin to my user name and it works well now. Tech support had to help me out this summer. It took three people to figure it out.
  7. The plumber isn't even a plumber in the commercial, he is an actor from a bunch of shows that I have watched. I wonder if any of them are actually preparers or have really read all of the code. One of my customers actually asked me if I had read it like the girl on tv from HRB. I said sure, that's why I'm so far behind.
  8. Thanks, KC. It was quicker to make a label and stick it on the envelope. Just another huge pain this year.
  9. I can't get a state corporation return to print no matter what I do. I added it to the form and unchecked the joint federal and state letter. I cannot find the way to make one print or even see one. Has anyone tried this yet? I searched it and the recommendation for 1040's didn't seem to work for corporations. I hope that it's just another one of their screw ups and not me being dense. Thanks!
  10. I love my office phone with the "Do not Disturb" button. If I heard my phone 24-7, I would feel the need to answer it. I love that more of my clients will email me now. I hate when they call and don't leave a message if I don't answer. I feel like I should call them, if I saw it on caller ID, but then if I call them, they won't learn to leave a message.
  11. Yes. It may be excluded if it is included in your federal taxable and not a premature distribution. Up to $24,000 may be excluded if they are 65 or older and up to $20,000 between 55 and 65. If younger than 55 you may exclude up to $20,000 if you received it due to the death of the person who earned the pension or annuity.
  12. Also, check to see if she saved her money or spent it on her support. I have some students that made a lot of money, but saved most of it and Mom and Dad almost completely supported them.
  13. Thanks everyone. I told her that she needed the cost and she had no idea, she just keeps giving me prices that she finds on Amazon for used stuff.
  14. My customer has personal property that she has been using in her home business since 2007,, but didn't mention it to me until this year. It was purchased before 2002 and she doesn't have the records as to how much she paid for it. She has looked up the current FMV for the used property, but I still think that it may be high. Her customer, and ex IRS person, told her that she could put it on the books for 2012 and fully depreciate it. I think that it should be put on the books as if it was added in 2007 when she began her business and I would have to amend the open years, which won't do much good, because it's $600-$700 over 7 years and my fee would be more than that to amend. Everything that I can find is the depreciation date is when it was put into service, and to use the depreciation that should have been taken . Am I being too tough in saying that four 1/2 years are already depreciated or is the IRS "person" wrong? She may have been a receptionist for all I know. Thanks for any help!
  15. I use AVG and Malwarebytes also and ATX's performance is good.
  16. That is good to know, Jim. He has really worked hard and has his CFII already and is working on his multi-engine this semester at college. This has been his passion since he started flying flight sims at 7. He doesn't care if he goes with an airline or is a corporate pilot as long as he can fly. He knows how important his degree is even though he is still an impatient teenager and wants to grow up right now.
  17. A follow up on my posts from last year. My son, the 18 year old pilot, was offered a job last week flying for Wings of Alaska out of Juneau for a summer job. He is leaving for 60 hours of ground school in April and has to miss a week and a half of school, but his professor's are so happy for him that they are working with him to get everything done before he leaves and can just come back for his finals at the end of the month. In Alaska they fly with different rules than in the lower 48 so he only needed 500 hours and doesn't have to be 23. This is a great opportunity for him and pretty amazing, but it is pretty scary for his dad and me. I am really proud of him, but I was hoping that he would just manage the pool here and keep instructing at the airport for the summer. I may try to get up there some time, because it looks really beautiful. Since he is leaving, I am taking a few days off in March to go to Colorado while he goes skiing so that I can spend some time with him. I don't even care if it is tax season! He says that he needs to learn to shoot a gun, because of bears and moose. I'm not sure if he is kidding me or not.
  18. I am so sorry, Joan. That is a horrible loss. You have lost a great friend.
  19. That is great news, KC. I hope that you get well very soon!
  20. It is Cox that is making it static, because it is a business line. I have two Internet drops into my house so one is personal and one is business. The sad thing is that the business one goes out more than the one upstairs. It is the same with the phone, the business one and voice mail have been out for hours at a time, while my personal (and cheaper) one still works.
  21. I thought that I would ask if this in case it is easy for someone besides me. My Internet provider called me and said that they are doing to change my business internet static IP address on March 1. Does anyone know if this if I have to change this anywhere besides my wireless router? Will it screw up everything that uses my router or anything else? I am going to be so mad if I have to call someone in to fix everything and my computer if down during tax season. These are things that I don't like to have to deal with very often. Thank you!
  22. I hope that all of your pets recover. Tax season is hard enough and your pets will always love you and make you feel better. Our kitty is 19 and we give him sub Q iv's twice a week. We will increase it as necessary. We gave up on the kidney function food because he hated it. Now he eats what he wants as long as it isn't dry food. I just wish that he would sleep through the night, because his insomnia is making my insomnia worse. His idea of fun is to scream at least every hour starting at three or four for somebody to wake up and go to the kitchen with him and watch him eat. He is totally spoiled, but we love him like crazy. My son may be going to Alaska to fly for a small airline for the summer and he is scared to death that his buddy will be gone when he gets back.
  23. I file mine in an accordion file alphabetically each year after I scan them and put them in a separate folder by year on my computer.
  24. A Pell Grant should not need to be paid back unless they fail the classes. They may have received money for other expenses and that would be taxable.
  25. Yes, he will get the tax credit for the Wisconsin tax owed, I just hope that the two states are about the same rate. Nebraska is pretty high.
