  1. I know that I certainly don't need 5 user licenses, but I thought that I Intelliconnect was not included with Max. I did just receive my third 2016 Taxbook and first state book when I renewed. The state book is useful. I just won't pay that much extra for Advantage.
  2. It may not be PC, but the "Windows" people or IRS people get called the names that I really want to use on people that I can't stand. I don't spew profanity until I know who they are, just in case it's some poor survey person just trying to make a living.
  3. Congratulations, Lynn!
  4. I have had this problem on several Windows 7 pro computers. I have fixed all but a laptop. I Googled until I came upon a fix from some website that worked on two desktops. I can't get the laptop to recover for anything. Fortunately, it only has some pictures, but they are important. I'm afraid to turn the darn thing on now long enough to back them up. My original update problem with my office computer was caused by the update to 10 that was not supposed to happen. After Microsoft took it back to Windows 7 for me, it would not update until I found the solution myself. They were no help with the endless circle up never finishing updating.
  5. I have not tried to use it. I supposedly have the ability to, but I have not needed any and their regular program was way out of my price range and not really suitable for my small business.
  6. This blog summed up my feelings for the last few years. It has ceased to be fun for me, but I'm too old to do anything new and with my husband's and mother's health, I hesitate to work away from home again. I did much better this year about not beating myself up when client's didn't understand why it takes so long to get their returns back. I worked harder and smarter this year, but it was rough, because most of my clients were so late this year. I don't know what the heck was up, but I really thought that I had lost a ton of them and then wanted to scream when they all showed up at once. I do love most of my clients, so I was glad to see them, but what were they doing until the third week of February? I am making my health more important than ever before, so I exercised every day and did not lose as much sleep this tax season. I love my family and want to stay around as long as possible to enjoy them.
  7. I am very sorry for your loss, Gail.
  8. My client brought me these cute little pictures that she had made from looking at our three cats. It made my day. She did tell me that I looked exhausted and my eyes were really puffy. I am really feeling my age these days. I do love most of my clients, some need to make a trip to Rita's yard.
  9. I am not even sure what you can do legally to reach out to the children unless their mother involves you. I have a situation like that where my client obviously has bad memory issues like coming on the wrong days and wrong times . I followed him driving one day and was petrified. His wife and only child are dead and I have no idea of anyone that I could reach or if I legally could anyway.
  10. Tell him that you will answer him after today. Then get back to him when you are able.
  11. Catherine, I would be in the same boat. So many of mine would trickle in little bits at a time so it drug out over a few weeks. My letter for next year now says ALL of their information must be in before I will start work. I received 11 envelopes of info from one of my out of town clients. The day after I sent it to her, I received another one. Fortunately, it was not anything that I needed. I have had some rough times this year with several clients that are all alone and have dementia. I am still trying to figure out who to call about one that should not be driving. Back to the grind of printing returns and getting payment forms ready.
  12. I'm never going to be done. On a lighter note, my and girlfriend are on the phone, because they can't figure out how to sign the returns that I sent them or make their payments. I'm dying off laughing. They don't teach them anything in college. We learned how to do them with the form and pencil in personal finance in high school.
  13. That's an idea, but I would have to change the dates to work for my practice. I have a lot of returns that can take a whole day to get through the 1065's, 1120's and the individuals involved. I have not left our property in three weeks and I work constantly. Next year should be better, because a lot of the real estate has been sold. lol
  14. I don't even know how many I have left. I definitely have several extension payments to figure out. Why did everybody sell a ton of real estate at huge gains and then all come in at once? This morning, a broker tried to tell me that selling the PTP should not be a big deal and definitely not taxable. This has been my worst year EVER! Over 50% of the returns came in 2 1/2 weeks before my deadline and I was still getting information for returns this morning. Next year, I don't think I will have a deadline in my letter and just say that it will be FIFO when ALL of their information is here.
  15. I'm sorry for you too, Gail. Prayers.
  16. I'm so sorry to hear this, Terry. Prayers to you and your family.
  17. My husband doesn't hate me, but I hate everyone else. It kills me to have to talk to anyone and not cry or scream.
  18. I'm sorry. That totally sucks.
  19. I accidentally forgot to check the box on one of my returns. They both had insurance, one had ACA and the other has medicare the 8962 was included, so I hope that the IRS does not send a letter.
  20. Did you see her SS card? She may not have changed her name.
  21. That is what I get, also. It's correct, because the tax rate is so low.
  22. That's exactly how I feel about it. It wasted so much of my time. I don't take any client that isn't related to or comes highly recommended to me.
  23. I don't know about anyone else, but my clients were so much later this year than normal, that I thought that I had lost a bunch of them. Then they started coming in all at the same time after 2/15 and so many strange things going on with them. I would open a normally easy return and then find out that they had started a business, ACA stuff, taken in the kids and grandkids, etc. I answered the phone the other day and the guy asked if I had every thought about selling my business; my reply was "every freaking day". Good luck to all of you and thanks for all of the laughs and the help.
  24. Congratulations! I just hope to be finished by October.
  25. I am so glad that my husband is so wonderful about taking the time to talk to my clients when they don't insist on seeing me. Most of them love him and he is very sympathetic to all of their aches and pains. and has been around this long enough that he can answer simple questions. I have really missed him the past three days, because he has been too sick to take them. I am hoping that he will be well enough to see them tomorrow. If my three cats could show them where to sign and take their payment, bunches of them would just go see them.
