  1. Thank you both for the replies. I felt pretty sure it couldn't be done, but always good to get some assurance. Eli
  2. As long as it's not cloning you, we're ok :-) Hope you're having a good season!! Eli
  3. Client is a legal assistant for a bankruptcy attorney. She states they were were having lunch with the IRS employees who check returns for people who are filing for bankruptcies. She asked them about deducting her pre-tax insurance premiums on her income tax return (I had just told her this week they could not include that on their return). They told her that she could since it was being deducted from her check. Now she wants to amend the return to include the health insurance premiums. What say ye?? Thanks! Eli
  4. Fred, I've used it and seems to work just fine. You open the return in question then select amend return? Not in the office any longer, but will double check for you tomorrow morning if you need me to. Eli
  5. Client shows an amount of $8157 with a code P in box 12. When I open the Form 3903 that amount rolls into that form and adds a substantial amount of tax on the return. Am I correct in deducting her expenses that she had in making the move? Thanks! Eli
  6. I think it's OrrTax software. I didn't like the worksheet entry method. Eli

  10. Hey Tom, Just got a call from a client who received a similar letter (he read it over the phone). He's going to bring it tomorrow. We'll see exactly what it says. I'm thinking that it means he won't need to file form 8862 anymore for the coming years, but not sure. Let me know if you find anything out. Hope you & your family are doing well!! Eli

Thank you both for the replies. I will suggest paper filing for them. The child will probably make a difference on the stimulus rebate. Thanks again!! Eli

    EFile ?

dependent child was born, but died a few minutes later? There is no SSN issued. The couple has the birth certificate, but no SSN. Including the child on the return does not change anything as far refund amount. Would it be best to leave the child off? No one else would be able to claim him w/o a SSN. Thank you! Eli

That's correct. It should work. Eli
  20. And thanks for fixing the link to the Efile center!! Eli
  21. That's exactly what it was. Does this mean that in his case, the amount sold would be his captal gain? There's also an asterisk in box 12. Down at the bottom it says if there is an asterisk then you cannot show a loss on F-1040 pertaining to this transaction. Thanks, Joan!! Eli
  22. I would say 2004 up to 4/15/08)-2006 + the current filing year. Eli
  23. I've noticed that sometimes direct deposits using bank products take a couple of days longer than a straight IRS direct deposit. Just have the client check with his bank on Monday. Eli
  24. Tom, IF it were me I would file it for her on the chance that she MIGHT get the 300 per child. These types really tug on your heart huh?? Eli
  25. Thanks for your help, Julie. Of course he doesn't have the check stub, so we'll have to do a little research. Thanks again!! Eli
