Waiting anxiously, and I do mean anxiously. I've been one of the lucky ones to experience very few problems so it makes me nervous every time a new update comes around. Updating your software should NOT cause nausea. Just sayin...

If you click on the "pages and worksheets" tab at the bottom of the open return you will see the "where to file" link.

Anyone else still experience long wait times to print or open returns?
gfizer replied to ETax847's topic in General Chat
Printing time is good now but wait time on opening a return is still long. I can't have two returns open at once at this point due to "low resources." -
Sorry for your loss, Joan. It's never easy to lose a pet.

Glad to hear everything went well, KC. Wishing you all the best!

First week of March is all anyone has been told at this point. An email I received this morning stated that "The IRS indicated that a more specific date is expected to be announced as soon as possible."

Thanks everyone! I will try submitting it with the zeroes and only the withholding/refund showing on page 2 and see if that works. Keep your fingers crossed......
-
The withholding is showing but lines 13 thru 18 are blank. The worksheets show the figures for prorated standard deduction and exemption but the figures from the worksheets aren't flowing to the return. I tried manually overriding the zeroes on the form itself to show the correct figures, but the efile rejects.

Their VA AGI is $14,869 which I know is below the the filing threshold but they had in excess of $500 withheld that needs to be refunded.

Does end of child support obligation end right to claim exemption
gfizer replied to gfizer's topic in General Chat
Thanks, Jack. I believed that to be the case. I think she has always been willing to abide by the terms of the divorce agreement that they both signed so long as he was paying child support, but now that the child support has stopped coming she is trough playing nice. -
I have a young couple who moved from Virginia to Kentucky in May of 2012. I have completed the Federal and Kentucky PY returns with no probem but I cannot get the Virginia Form 760PY to calculate. I completed the Schedule of Income and the software populates the first page of the form with the correct numbers to arrive at Virginia Adusted Gross Income but the 2nd page of the return shows zeroes. The worksheets for the prorated standard deduction and exemption are properly calculated but the figures aren't flowing from the worksheets to the return itself. What am I doing wrong?

What version of ATX are you running? Mine did that until I installed the 12.9 update. Once I installed it the return opened fine and I was able to fix the reason for the reject and re-submit without any trouble.

I don't believe you have to submit a fingerprint card with your EFIN application if you are a CPA or attorney. You just have to submit proof that you have been admitted to the bar or whatever.

Female taxpayer has a daughter who is a full-time student and lives with her. Daughter turned 18 in 2012. Pursuant to divorce decree taxpayer's ex was to pay child support until their daughter reached the age of 18 and he was entitled to claim the dependency exemption. Now taxpayer wants to know if she can claim her daughter since her ex no longer has any child support obligation. What do you guys think?

The state of Kentucky requires a copy of the Federal Form 4562 to be attached to the Kentucky e-file. Everytime I attempt to print the 4562 to PDF so I can attach it it says "0 pages printed" and I get nothing. I've changed the print options on the 4562 to "always print" and I've changed my print packets preferences to "always" and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

You should be able to file returns with depreciation now provided your program is updated to at least version 12.9
-
Installed 12.9 and it has fixed both of the problems 12.8 caused for me. Payer manager is now working correctly and the one 4562 return that crashed the software everytime I tried to open it opened and allowed me to create and submit the efile. I am hopeful that ATX is on the right track....finally.
-
I'm not sure the form is corrupted. All of my other returns with 4562 are working fine. It's just this one return that is having an issue.
-
Same here. Can't have two returns open at once because of "low resources." Also have one return with Form 4562 (the very first one I prepared and have been holding for e-file) that will not open. Software crashes everytime I try. I'm thinking I will probably end up having to delete it and start over from scratch. Anyone else having a similar experience or found a fix for it?

This year more than ever before I have had clients asking if they can wait until they receive their refunds to pay my fees. I've always done this for a couple of clients who are good friends but am uncomfortable doing it for people I barely know. I'm considering signing up for FeeCollect but was wondering how many of you use it and what your feelings are about it. Those of you who use it, do you pass the $15 charge on to your client or how do you handle that? Thanks for your input.

It's not available yet, but boy do I ever wish it was. Last I read this is one of the forms not expected to be ready until early March.
-
I have never prepaid and probably never will. Nothing to do with holding out to make sure the software is acceptable, though. It's just for me that the discount is not deep enough for me to part with my money that far in advance. I've been a loyal ATX customer since the days it was called Saber and barring some major catastrophic event will probably remain loyal. I will say that I have been fortunate this year. I've experienced very few issues other than an occasional crash, slow opening, and slow printing, and most of those issues have been resolved by the latest updates. I'm 70 returns in and have not had one rejected e-file. I will also have to admit that there are features in the new software that I really do like. That being said, I plan to weather the storm and trust that CCH will be able to resolve the problems.

Head of Household vs. MFS - couple separated 2 years
gfizer replied to gfizer's topic in General Chat
Not even one night, Tom. In fact, another man now lives with her so it could make for a tense situation. LOL! -
Have Any of Your EIC Clients Received Their Refunds?
gfizer replied to Chowdahead's topic in General Chat
I've been checking pg. 4 from the beginning. -
I think I'm right on this one but just wanted to see what you guys thought. I have a female taxpayer who has been separated from her husband for 2 years but never legally divorced. She has a teenage daughter from a previous marriage who lives with her. She paid more than 1/2 the cost of keeping up the home and is the only person entitled to claim her daughter. Do you agree that I am correct in saying that she meets the tests to be "considered unmarried" and can therefore file as HOH?
