Modified AGI is determined without regard to the section 911 exclusion for foreign earned income. that seems to be the key here. Seems strange, but then, a lot of the code seems strange these days.

Rita, just have to tell you how much I love your posts! Your humor always brightens my day!

Clear to me you need to lose him this year. He seems to be telling her something different than he's telling you, so probably stalling her so he can file first. I'd tell her you are getting conflicting messages, without any details, so only if they come in TOGETHER and discuss it can you do the return.

Should have left it off last year's A if it made no change in tax liability last yr. But did you do the Line 19 worksheet?

Just make it plain to them that unless they do it right, they will remain residents of their current state. Things like Drivers Lic, car and/or RV tags are the most obvious and provable.

I am starting to believe there is a conspiracy

SO TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. -
Yes, for whatever they don't know where it goes. I prefer that to them just putting everything in Misc. I can then go to that account and correct those entries.

That could cause a real problem if the client is audited. Unless all the income is treated as SE income by the shs,

If this is the site you mean, http://www.1040promos.com/ it seems a bit over priced. You should be able to get any certificate copied and enlarged for a lot less, locally at any printer, even with the cost of a nice frame.

Just like people, dogs [and cats] do have various different voices. I've wondered if other dogs laugh at them.

Just out of curiosity, do any of you use a WITTB account for those 'write up' clients?
-
YOU KNOW WHO THIS IS FOR.......
-
Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm with Michael on this one. Since there is nothing to be gained, and no assets at issue, why waste time and effort to prepare a return that leaves everyone, even the IRS, right where they were before?

Just a BIT sloppy? Sorry, could not resist. Does the LLC have a bank account? Any money in it? His 1099 should be on a C, of course, and the materials can be deducted there, so that part is workable. But clearly, you need to educate them on the 'entity' concept. Hope your fee is going to reflect the extra work they've created.

I'm still happily using PDFactory, which was, a long time ago, given to us from ATX. I upgraded to the full version for a small fee, and have never needed anything else. I now have the full Adobe, because when my son gave me a new laptop for Christmas, two years ago, he put it on. But I don't think I've used it but once!
-
It is not really 'costing' the client anything that would not have been deducted had it been on the w-2. I see no problem.

Putting in the code should tell the software it's a military exclusion, and the program should apply the rule. If it does not, ATX needs to be notified and they can fix it.

Treasury issues reprieve for health law tax errors
kcjenkins replied to TKTax's topic in General Chat
Actually, the significant part of this is that it is another case of the IRS just ignoring the law, as written, and just arbitrarily deciding not to enforce a part of it. They are breaking the law they are supposed to enforce impartially. -
No, this one is pretty unavoidable.

His original post said "the paving is keeping the property in it's original condition", so it is not an improvement, it's maintenance.

Treasury issues reprieve for health law tax errors

Actually, if the IRS cared about taking responsibility for what was totally their mistake, they could make the corrections themselves, since they already have the info. -
We all do love you, Rita, you are a dependable source of both good tax advice and also day-brightening humor. Hang in there, spring is on the way. [if it doesn't get lost in the blizzard.]
