We don't efile the 1099's until mid to late February. This gives the recipients a chance to verify the numbers. If we need to make any corrections , it can be done before they are sent to IRS.

You can have up to 3 users with no additional cost for Max. If you have more than 3 users you pay an additional 50% of the cost. Yes it works fine on a peer to peer network. With a network, make sure you have a good printer. I use a HP 4300 with extra ram added to keep up with the work load. There are 9 computers on my peer tp peer network.

This is almost identical to my situation ,except this daycare does not have their own tax exempt status. They are working under the church. I agree with you as far as filing the 990 or 990-EZ. However, I wanted to find something clear to back up what they have been doing. I am going to try to talk to the CPA & Attorney that are members of the church , to see what I might be missing.

Those were fast responses. Just to clarify, the daycare is for anyone who needs daycare for their children while they are at work. The work is not at the church. JohnH, I had read that information, I wasn't sure if a daycare center would be a church organization like a "ladies aid" or a "youth group". The daycare is a service being provided , but is paid for. Most services provided by a church do not involve a fee.

My firm processes the payroll for a daycare center that is affiliated with a church. The daycare has never filed a 990 on the advice of a CPA and Attorney who are members of the church. Their gross income is over $25000.00. They received a notice about the new 990-N and asked me if they are required to submit it. I do not have any Tax Exempt tax clients , so I told them I would need to research it. I have read the instructions and it appears to me they should be filing a 990 or 990-EZ. Does anybody know if a daycare center organized through a church would have the same non filing requirement as the church? Thanks !

Go to form 4562, at the bottom of the page click on the Detail Report. At the top of the page is a box labeled "Type". Click on the drop down box and select Next Year Fed. Print the page. I think this what you were looking for.

Not in my case Mel. I have been with ATX since 1998 tax year. I plan to call ATX about it when I have the time.

The transfer fee was not on the invoice . If you go to Myatx and look at your order info. there is a $10.00 transfer fee. As to what it is and why, I don't know.

Thank you for the advice. It turns out the attorney had a copy of the tax return. They wanted to know what information the client had given me and wanted copies of my work papers. Also, copies of any correspondence between the client and my office. I believe the meeting went well for me but not so well for the client. The client did not give my office all income items. He had the same preparer for many years. The year in question, the preparer would not do the return the way the client wanted. The client then brought it to my office but did not give us the same information as his regular preparer,whom also was questioned. After that one year the client went back to his previous preparer. My original post was on the wrong forum. Thank you to whoever moved it over.

I do the same thing, I just put (07 EST) at the end of the clients name.

Is it possible you entered the date of death as the purchase date?

Yes I have the same $10.00 fee. I don't know what it is yet.

A fellow came in my office at 5PM on Oct 15th wanting help with IRS Intent to Levy letters for 2002 and 2003. I told him I am not taking on new clients. Is there anyone in the Harrisburg, PA area who is looking for new clients or works on tax problem resolutioms?

I just found this site about a month ago. I missed the old ATX community and I'm glad to see alot of familiar names. I did not post alot but did scan the community every morning. My reason for posting : I just received a Subpoena to attend a deposition on Thur. Oct. 18th. The Attorney is requesting I bring any documents, letters or any other written communications with my client. He does not mention the tax return itself. Does anyone have any experience with this type of request. The only documents I have is my interview sheet and the tax return. Thank you to anyone who has and shares their information. Gary
