Agree totally. My youngest just started college. Once these babies start coming, life is all about them.; just as it was about our children.

I also fill it out except for very, very small partnerships that I did not set up.

Thanks Lion. This just does not seem right to me, but everything I have read says that she gets the EIC. Wow!!! What a tangled web we weave. Just so happens that this is not her year to claim the dependency, but because she changed jobs, her income is much lower than prior years and she had child for more days than father.
-
I just went back and re-read this entire thread. So, is it correct that a divorced parent can claim the EIC even though it is not her year to take the child as a dependent. She qualifies, father does not. She is filing HOH though they have joint custody, but if she had child for more days it qualifies her for HOH. My mind is just a'churning here.

I thought you were going to say that you solved it by sleeping in your clothes.

I have such a situation. Father and Son are partners. Draws to them are either Personal or GP if the money is based on a sales condition. Other son is not a partner but does the majority of the selling. His payments are Commissions and taxed as SE because his payment is based on his actual sales. No sell; no pay! That's been my experience too. I want my answers when I am ready for them. I constantly go back and forth with email unless I ask them a specific question. Sometimes, by the time I get the answer, I forget what the question was and the client is on the bottom of the pile. Also, KC, that is easy to say, but when you have OIH (my own choice) it is irritating. This is Sunday. Trust me, this afternoon, the phone will be unplugged. I have a good excuse this year; "I had surgery in June and I have to rest some time.)

MY line 26, page 2 reads: Income taxable to both Wisconsin and other state (See instructions)

Problem with e-mail: 1. I need an appointment, 2. Me: When are you available; 3. What do you have open?; 4. Me: (Gritting my teeth) How about___?; 5. I work til 5; 6. Me: 6:00 on Monday?; 7. This Monday? 8. Me: Yes, 9. OK, that will work. 10. Me: (Thinking, charge them extra!) Texting is just as bad and now they are trying to set up appointments through PM on Facebook. Same scenario as above. Are we becoming a mute society?

I just finished and filed a return with 15.3.

2016 tax season work flow compared to 2015 tax season

I move all files between desktop and laptop with a flash drive. All files are backed up on there anyway and all returns get filed from the same location; the desktop. -
My yakking client who also talks non-stop is running a "business" of selling Pampered Chef, in addition to her real job. "Oh, I am making so much money. I am so excited and my sales were so good that I even earned a trip this year!" Whoa! Backup! Do you realize that you will be taxed on the value of that trip? Her: "But, I earned it!" Me: Key word; EARNED! Her: "Oh, my Gosh!, we are so glad we came to you because you know everything!" Well, some days I feel like I don't know anything. However, this lady truly wants to file a complete and honest return. She has that going for her. She said that the best times to talk to her are Saturday or Sunday. Well, those are the worst times to talk to me. Most Sundays you may find my phone unplugged and if you don't have my cell #, you are out of luck.

2016 tax season work flow compared to 2015 tax season

Coming in really early. Some ARE waiting for their ACA info. However, last year we couldn't even file at this time. When I compare book for book, about the same clients as last year for Jan as well as some new ones. Feb book is half full. I didn't even send out a letter this year, so am pleased, I guess. -
I am having the preparer rollover issue. I did find a workaround that is pretty easy.

My clients are also spoiled. That is going to change somewhat this year. My excuse is the same as Tabby's; except that I chose to continue in this business despite breast cancer; which also is going well. I do get terribly tired though and we all know how much worse that is during tax season. This will be their chance to stay or fly under my conditions. I refuse to make myself ill in order to make them happy; and most of my clients wouldn't want me to.

You do not need to file a Federal form to receive this.

Schedule WR=A....check the box 7 from the bottom. Also, Schedule H and Property Tax Bill statement. I also fill out a WI-1. Otherwise none of the numbers from the H will populate.

It is really VERY nice.

This year we have one month less to procrastinate on Partnerships. They are due March 15th.

Never, Ever!!!! I always make sure that I have at least one extra on hand when I install an new cartridge. If I don't, I order one immediately. Most of these Compatibles will give you the option of purchasing two, three or five at an even more reduced price. (ie. shipping)
-
I would say that it is not correct. What I am reading is that "Up to $25000 in passive losses from rental real estate can be deducted each year against nonpassive income. Rental income is treated as passive income. I think that the sale of property would be considered nonpassive.
-
I have also had really good luck with Cartridge warehouse through Amazon. These aren't refills, but Compatibles. They actually seem to give more mileage than OEM. I haven't bought a refill for years; since one blew up inside my printer.
