Not only do I click the save button often; but I also export the return to a jump drive every time I make a major change on it. Just can't say this often enough. This also allows me to move the return to another computer if necessary to work on it. Of course, I am not networked.

Because most of them were not smart enough to write their password down in a safe place instead of on the back of an old envelope that they threw away. Just completed two more yesterday. One Gal didn't even know enough to give me the 1095A because she didn't know what it was for.
-
Why all these sudden problems with the 1095A. Either they didn't get them; the got it and didn't know what it was for or (this one was really something) tried to do his own return by hand and figured the PTC without having the 1095A from the Marketplace. Also, wherever that Marketplace is, they need some attention. They told one client that they mailed it five times. How come the client didn't get at least one of those five? Am going nuts right along with the rest of you.

This is absolutely true.

15 hours is correct, if you have passed the RTRP test.

I quit smoking that day; because I still had CHOICES. I will never forget where I was and what I was doing.

Extremely tedious IMO

I have to complete a minimum of 15 hours of CPE each year to maintain my AFSP. I consider the fee for the PTIN to be part of this. I still say, "Leave it alone!"
-
I, also, have no objection to the PTIN fee. I believe that it separates the preparers who are afraid of scrutiny from those who are not. There has to be some distinction between honest preparers and those that are just trying to make a few bucks on the side. The cost of doing business honestly is increasing yearly. If we are really "a business" we should have some entitlement. These protesters may force me to hang it up before I truly want to.

That's not to say that I don't USE the Save feature. I have it set to every five minutes and I click on the Save button frequently. The precautions that I take are to bail me out in the event of a computer failure. I also do external backups of the entire system periodically. The backup program that I use also allows me to access ATX files directly. I feel fairly safe with the methods that I use for backup, export and security. Just because I have never had a crash, doesn't mean that I won't.

Yes, actually meant "export". Every time I make a major change in a return, I export it to the file in the jump drive. When return is finished, entire return is once again exported. Then, if I wish or need to work on a different computer, return can be imported into the Return Manager. I really don't worry about the Save feature, because I have saved (exported) a copy that I can carry around and/or keep in a safe place away from the computer program.

De......I have no problems with the program, but I am stand alone on all three computers and not networked. Also, I save every return several times to a jump drive as I am working on it. Therefore, we can work on any return from any computer. I know this sounds cumbersome, but it works for us.

Yes, so did I. Unsettling, to say the least.

speaking of getting hacked, what security software do you use?

Tiger Direct and/or BestBuy online.

Too bad they don't have a system to prevent them sending all the "new" offers to customers who have already renewed. Not very good PR. Might have to call my rep when I get home from vacation.

Lots of that this year. Why oh why is right!

That is definitely what I LOVED about your post.
