I just filed 2. It took longer than usual, but they went through. I did download updates before I tried to e-file.

.....and every other person who calls asks about it. How smart do we look when we have to say that we don't know? Oh, and everyone has a different figure as to how much they "should" get. Thank you Mr. Government....

Yes, if $600 or more. An LLC is considered a noncorporate entity unless it has elected to file as an S Corp.

Problem: You have sent in one or more 1099 or 1098 returns and have not received acknowledgements. Where are they? updated 1-24-08 at 9am--Solution: The e-files have not yet been transmitted to the IRS. We have been holding these files here, in the EFC. We expect to start efiling these today or tomorrow. problem: An EFIN is not required to efile these forms, but the software won't let you efile without the EFIN. updated 1-24-08 at 9am--Solution: Due to changes in our EFC this year, an EFIN is required at the moment. However, our developers are working on a better solution. We expect to start accepting these efiles today at some point; more info soon...

Tom, it has always come automatically as part of the Max package; at least as long as I have been using Max. If you look at the Max program in the "ATX Store", it shows that the express answers book is included in both the online and paper editions. They were pretty vague about it this year, but apparently it is coming...

Thanks to all of you. It is the WI returns that say that, which is so confusing. I did not have the problem last year as some of you did, so had never seen it before. Thanks again. I will ignore. Also, have you had any WI come back with Debt Indicators yet. I had one accepted who expected part of his WI to be held; and it did not come back with an indicator.

My Acks are coming back accepted, but under Pin Status it says Practitioner Pin, 8453 Required. Is anyone else seeing this and what does it mean. None of my accepted e files should require an 8453.....

It automatically comes with Max. I haven't got mine either.

Your question has nothing whatsoever to do with Jane Eyre. It is a quote taken from "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen. ‘You may ask questions which I may not choose to answer’. She declares herself equal to Darcy. ‘He is a gentleman; I am a gentleman’s daughter; so far we are equal.’ She refuses to give Catherine an open promise about what she is going to do in the future. When Lady Catherine insults her by saying she will ‘pollute’ ‘the shades of Pemberly’, Elizabeth firmly but politely terminates the conversation..." It refers to the supposed weakening of the aristocratic bloodline by marriage to a commoner. You see, I recently read "The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen". Now, tell me again that you are not being facetious.

Mike, go to MY ATX; then to Download Center, then to 2007 Forms Update. Choose the type of forms you want, such as FED, click on Next which takes you to the list of available forms. At the very top of the page right under the blue bar is a sentence that tells you to follow the "instructions". Instructions is highlighted. Click on that word, which brings up a box with the directions that I just gave you. It wouldn't let me copy and paste, but what I told you was correct.

I had problems last year primarily because I have dialup. I still have dialup and the downloads are going very smoothly this year. Makes me wonder why yours isn't working. Anyhow, when you download forms you choose the directory where you have ATX2007 installed. (Such as C/Program Files/ATX 2007) When you find that in the drop-down boxes and get to ATX2007, click on it and choose "New Files". Download the forms there. The Program updates always get downloaded to the desktop and installed from there. Hope this helps. If this isn't the proper procedure this year, I hope that someone corrects me.....Best of luck!

Are the parents living together? Quickfinders Page 4-10 says that the parent with whom the child lived the greater portion of the year. If the child lived with each parent the same amount of time then the parent with the highest AGI gets the deduction. However, remember that MFS does not allow them to take EIC, Child care credit, tuition deductions. See page 4-7 for chart of disadvantages and lost credits and benefits for MFS.

It is not a countty hospital or county contract for indigents. However, it could be a county assessment since he is not married to the mother. The point being that a third party is attaching his STATE refund. You do not need to be so facetious about Jane Eyre. I am enjoying it. That doesn't mean that I expect you or any other member of this board to do the same. I see that there is, however, a large demand for the DVD on E-Bay.

I am reading "Jane Eyre" and am amazed how many people I ask have never heard of that Classic written in 1847 by Charlotte Bronte....I recently watched the movie on PBS and decided to read the book (again, since I know I read it in High School). Am enjoying every page. By the way, I have a client who is having his WISCONSIN refund offset for non-payment of hospital bill for birth of child. Child is his dependent.

You don't have to set it up. It rolls over with the information from the prior year and appears near the top of the Billing Worksheet.

I was very surprised by and impressed with that also.

I wish I had those kind of "smarts"! My clients are NOT happy with the new Organizers. The only one I know who is happy is the Post Office.

If it is an easement, it should be spelled out as such in the original offer to purchase under eminent domain. If it is an easement and no land is being exchanged for the second part; I think this is ordinary income with no basis and taxed as such.

Kind of like the Green Bay Packers fans own the team????? Your story has some very interesting information....

We don't expect temps to get above zero tomorrow for the Packers/Giants playoff game here in Wisconsin. And the game is in the evening so will be extra cold (or seem like it). Do you remember hearing about when Dallas came to WI for the famous Ice Bowl Game? (We won!)

If I am working on my laptop, I export the return to a USB thumb drive and then import it to my desktop to finish and/or E-file it. All e-files should be done from the same computer. Also, make sure that you keep the program and forms updated on both computers. This worked really well for me last year as I would take work with me on weekends and then bring it home and finish it or file it. Hope this helps. I also export all files to Zip disks as I am working on them.

The E-Mail that I received from SS or IRS was in regard to the calculations being incorrect for recipients who had subscribed to Medicare Part D. How would you calculate that, John?

Eli, I will be around if and when the dream becomes a reality. Sorry, no millions, though. BTW, I have been shoveling snow for the past two days. Today the sun is shining, but the temp is minus 14 degrees. Might as well be in Maine. We used to go to Texas every Jan or Feb for a couple of weeks before I got so busy......Regards
