From 2018 onward, ATX tax and payroll have the same user interface and files structures. Payroll has its own MS 'Payroll xxxx Service'. Backup procedure is the same for both.

I'm not sure how SPX backup works. You should try to recover the backup data (on your backup server) to see if you have full access to your files. ATX tech support showed me the correct way to manually back up. First, stop MS Service for 'ATX xxxx Service', then copy both DataStore and 'ATX xxxx Files' folders (xxxx = year). After that, restart MS Service to continue using ATX. When I need to restore my data, stop MS service for ATX, copy my backup data to their locations, restart MS service and done. If you miss any of the 3 steps above, it'll be more complicated to recover your back up data.

I renewed on 11/12 and got my card on 2/14 (when I was about to call). I remembered my couple last renewals took about 45 days.

I filed case support to ATX yesterday. It's resolved now.

Hello, Form CA 540 Check Error: 'Direct deposit amount must match the refund' when the 'Paper check by mail' is selected under Refund Options, instead of direct deposit. This error just started 4 days ago and before that it has been no error. It is still no error for refund under $10 to choose option paper check by mail. If you encountered the same problem and had it resolved, please help. Thanks.

ATX just released a draft form.

ATX support sent me an email stating that this form will be released on Feb23(this update is also shown inside ATX form release). That's a 4-week delay. I've asked them to at least release a draft form. Let see if they can do anything between now and 2/23. I don't think I can afford this to happen again next year.

Hi Tom. I heard that Lacerte, ProSeries(same company) and TaxWise(same company with ATX) have the form for over a week now. For FTB forms, you can go to ftb.ca.gov/forms/Search, enter 2021, and Schedule CA to display the form. Click on the 540 Schedule CA and enter your email address. The system will send you the form right away.

Hello everyone. I'm using ATX and still waiting for the CA Sch CA (540) 2021 form. I called ATX support and they said they're not sure when the form will be available. I heard that other software already has the form. The form is also available from FTB. Is anyone else having this issue? Best regards, --An
