  1. And even some of those basis are not correct.
  2. BulldogTom. Very close to what happened. I will get dates and proceed only. Trying to make this as easy as I can but not easy when dealing with CA. Thanks for the response's.
  3. I have a TP that had earned income in Nevada. Earned income in CA as a nonresident and then moved to CA with more income. Can I file a oart year CA and include the Nonresident income or do I have to file both? A non resident CA and a PY CA? I cant seem to make heads or tails out of CA rules. Please help.
  4. This is one area where true cost have not kept up with return allowances. I have several clients who make a darn good living by handling 5 kids. IRS is right. Sorry. Even most states either allow a small credit or deduction based on the IRS credit.
  5. Just a little resurrection. A client just brought me a quart of Virginia Happy water. Think I will save for the back 40, that way if I get wacked I shall feel no pain.
  6. It looks like I am going to learn a lot at the june meeting. Joint locking, paper cuts, back 40 with a dozer. Whats next?

Any body picked a date yet? Are you behind?
  8. Yeah and turning the clocks up an hour didn't help either.
  9. I found I can replace my fluorescent tubes with the new led tubes. I originally had daylight bulbs and these seem to help. My question is do you like the varidesk? How much $
  10. I think I read somewhere when these annuities pay out , its last in first out meaning they pay out the earnings first. At least that was what I found. I can't get your numbers to match up but think there should be a 1099R also.
  11. Totally hard wired here also. NO client use of my network for anything.
  12. I and my cohort think of our clients as family. It is sad when we lose 1. As said previously our clients tend to rely on us for more than just tax prep. Anyway group hugs for EVERYBODY. Is it june yet?
  13. From what I can tell TP broke ankle at work. While 90% of medical issues related to that were paid, TP while off had their teeth fixed approx. 3K worth(no Ins for teeth work) all out of pocket. This is what led me to think this thing a little further.
  14. Clarification please: In 2017 TP hurt on job. Receives workers comp while TP is off work. Uses $ to pay medical bills(not associated with injury) and mortgage etc. If Workers comp not taxable can tp still deduct expenses on sch A? I think my brain went to lunch and did not come back.
  15. Virginia tax law changes on the 26th of Feb conforming to the medical deduction as allowed by federal for 2017 thus requiring an adj if used. My question to you VA preparers are you going to amend those VA returns for this and at what might be an acceptable change before we amend. Anyone know what the state will have as an allowance in change. I checked one of mind and it only made a $3 difference. Just kinda fishing on how we may want to handle this.
  16. Yes, I am doing that incase a return should ever get out of clients hands. I am wondering tho if bank wanted a copy of prior year return would they accept this since the #'s are masked out?
  17. Gail I tried a couple of returns where the A was lost, tax up 20 to 300. VA will be happy, TP will be sad. One I tried where TP turns 65 during 2018. Great for tax liability issues.
  18. Post yours and maybe some of us have others that we have fixed. Thanks
  19. Any one know if Japan Social Security is treated like US Social Security. TP is US citizen and receiving Japan Social Security and US social security.
  20. I have a bunch that the TP's said wait and see about the extenders bill.
  21. Not sure: TP has water lines running at the bottom of his pond being circulated by a geo thermal heat pump for heating and cooling of house. During 2017 old pump quit. New high efficiency one cost 17k to install. Lines in pond ok just pump went out. Question is would this be one that qualifies for the 30% no cap limit credit? just a note TP told me his heating and cooling cost dropped nearly 70%.

    HP Printers

I have been using HP 4050n and 4050tn for years now. Just put a maintenance kit in 2 of them. Toner reasonable and duplexers are worth the money and the paper savings.
  23. I still will have kids in school in May. I really did not think we would get this far when I suggested it. I agree maybe a couple dates and a central spot would be great for all of us that are interested. Travel may be a problem for some. Number of days required may be the other one. Just my 2 cents worth.
  24. Anybody figure how to maybe only print 2 or 3 of the columns. I think anything beyond that may be crap shoot.
  25. I think some of these state will get a tax increase without having to ask for it due the different items and the way they calculate tax.
