  1. Glad to hear from you Beth - You have been helpful to us in the past. I offer my first impression(s) about your new venture. I suspect most of us have had $500. problems, but few of us will plan for one. A "per incident" price might be more attractive. IF William Tasker is part of your indeavor, you should so advise. Good luck! Zeke
  2. "Most seemed to be those posters that only are there during the season to get their question answered & have no desire to help others or stay around after the season ends. " Then they don't get no frikkin bananas!
  3. So the only name I have for the new program is NOTATX. Until changed. I have decided to not reup with ATX early. For $100 I can keep my options open. I can renew anytime. I would much rather send MEL a check "on the come". Might work, might not. Mel - This is my polite way of inquiring - please advise. Thanks! zeke
  4. It was so funny today, a client called to say he already got his stimulus check. He did not e-file, he mailed his return with a check, probably first of March. So no direct deposit. He got the paper check already. He thanked me. I said, "You're welcome." I have been grinning stupidly over it all day. Just wait till he gets his NEXT stimulus check!! z
  5. Plus all the "standard" stuff, I suppose, although I've never written a standard letter so I'm curious as to what you think that is and why you think it would convince anyone of anything. Jainen - thanks for your considered response. You are correct to comment about my "standard" stuff. In 40 years, I have written 3 letters requesting abatement of penalties and the IRS grants all requests or liked all of mine. No - I don't have a form letter, but many of the same comments appear in each letter. Again, thanks for your time. Zeke
  6. New client. Country club files 990. In existence for generations. Bookkeeper for 40 years retired 2002. 2002 & 2003 990 not filed until IRS requested same. Upon filing, CC assessed $$$ in late filing fines. New finance officer wrote letter (good job) stating history, no intent to avoid, no revenue to IRS due, ignorance, new procedures, etc. IRS abated penalties. 2004 & 2005 filed on time. New election & new officers, 2006 filed 174 days late. IRS assesses $3480. late filing penalty. CC brings file to me & asks what to do. I see two (bad) choices. 1) ignore history & just write "standard" request for abatement - & pray that IRS won't notice prior late filing, and 2) mention prior late filing up front & then request abatement. I have prior good experience with the "standard" abatement request, but want to consider (2) above before actually responding. Does anyone have prior experience with multiple assessments for late filing. Does anyone prefer (1) or (2) above, and if (2) - just what the hell do I say that is new??? thanks in advance Zeke
  7. Now I know you are pulling my leg. I can believe a giant Raccoon. & one that can make a text message. Even one that likes reduced fat cheeze-its. And is fastidious enough to require the zip-lock baggie and knows the back yard. You will never convince me that he could look up your business phone number & call you at work. Gotcha!!!
  8. ....."Need spicy mustard" on a frikkin banana??
  9. methinks a little paranoia to be a good thing. zeke

    HEY J.B.

So I found this banana & thought of you. I intend to change it in a couple of days, so feel free to steal it. zeke

    I'm Board

Guess I'll go fishing, Might as well be board with worm fingers... forget the fish - I would rather be abroad or be with a broad....
  13. "....I really do not know how to respond to this" I'll take a shot J.B.. This pencil neck geek actually found a picture of himself before he lost his teeth and hair. The teeth from men he insulted. The hair from the ladies. If he were from Kansas, I would say that he was just mad cause someone dropped a house on his sister. Now - two serious comments: 1. ERC obviously did an exemplary job in making his point to BOOGER. 2. BOOGER's aplogy was proper, but posting his own picture shows that he really understands that he had been offensive and regretted it. Fearless Zeke
  14. Good man, Michael. Everyone please be advised that I am often a little "dense" and I fail to see the tongue in cheek. Jainen's dry wit often leaves me scratching my head. Zeke
  15. "but would say that inappropriate posts may not indicate an bad person so much as just a failed attempt at levity." My nerves are very exposed today. It is very easy to be offended and, conversely, be offensive. Janitor Bob has made two beautiful attempts to smooth this over. The young lady that Booger commented on appears well capable of defending herself. I will end with two comments. 1. To any and all that I may have offended, My most abject apologies. 2. Play nice ! ! ! Zeke
  16. wHAT HE SAID. Z
  17. Anyone that would not do the amendment cannot go to the reunion with Ray in Ohio this summer & will miss Janitor Bob's frikkin' banana display!
  18. I agree with JohnH. No assets + no future = no billable time. Give thanks that they are giving you an early out. Someone else can now do the work and not get paid....

"I'm almost afraid to ask this for fear that y'all will think, "omg, I didn't think that guy was THAT ignorant" One of my favorite words. Ingorant simply means uninformed - which almost all of us are! (Except Jainen of course.) Personally I consider the PITA factor along with the tax implications. A $23.45 1099-INT in G'mas SSN that belongs to G'son is probably going to be reported on G'mas return & that is all. If the 1099-INT is for $2,345.00 I will follow the established nominee distribution process.
  20. You should feel honored - Bob don't just anyone play with his frikkin banana.
  21. I was referring to the farm as and when inherited. It could well have had a mortgage WHEN inherited - and never become profitable. But - you are probably right. They probably just never learned how to take care of business, & taught their son everything they knew... z
  22. do not pass GO & do not collect $200.
  23. THEY INHERITED A FARM!!!!. No mortgage interest!!! Ray in Ohio - I just re-read the original post. I see no indication that the inherited farm did or did not have an incumberance.

  25. Yes, we all should know our limitations, but unfortunately we don't find out what they are until the second week in April. I fired 3 clients this AM; 2 because they don't want to pay (have no money) and the 3rd is the son and brother that I have not even started on. Told Mom to send son to pick up all of the stuff. Seems like every other return I am filing these days is an extension, including my own. I hear Silverbelle loud and clear. interesting family!
