I'm also looking for a decent printer/scanner/copier to replace the piece of crap HP M225dw. The copy quality is awful if I use the top feeder no matter what setting, and the scans are ridiculously enormous, like 5megs for 10 pages of text only PDF. I hate this thing almost as much as I despise having to shop around for new office equipment. Santa, I've been good. Bring me a great new printer/scanner/copier!!

Assigning 1099 Income from personal to S-Corp
BHoffman replied to Jack from Ohio's topic in General Chat
I've had a few 1099 forms come in the name and SSN of the SCorp officer. I entered the income and then a corresponding Other Expense on Sch C with a notation "Nominee income to EIN XX-XXXXXXX" (Scorp EIN). Never a problem. -
With the sophistication of cyber crooks, I don't know if this does any good but I've always had two email addresses. One is strictly for friends, family, and clients and the other is the one I use for everything else that requires an email account. The "everything else" email account has no contacts. Lots of spam advertising for Viagra, though.....

Form 8809 extension request works for both 1099M NEC and W2 forms. The process is more involved for W2 but an extension is available. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8809.pdf

Dumb question: The 1120X destructions say to attach copies Form 1120, page 1 and the tax computation page, for both the year the loss originated (2015) and for the carryback year(s) - in my case 2013 and 2014. Would that "Copy Only - Do Not Process" page 1 for 2013 and for 2014 be as originally filed, or changed to show the carryback on their respective lines 29a? I'm going to submit form 1139 as a "Copy Only - Do Not Process" schedule to show the adjustments required to figure the NOL that was carried back. Sound OK?

I really try to stay away from face time as much as possible. Those client who hack and wheeze with their colds and flu all the way through the appointment. Unattended children are given a free espresso and a kitten.

I work at my home office. If I have to put shoes on, someone is getting a bill.

Llamas, did you formally tell them you aren't doing any more work for them, regardless? Because those clients somehow find the money they owe about two days before the W2s are due..... just say in'....

I'm in the same boat. 1. I'm going to do the standard amended for the prior year(s). 2. No adjustments on the 2015. 3. I'm going to have to check and see if AZ allows corporate carrybacks. If not, then I'll have to make a carryforward note as a reminder.

Restaurant 1099-K forms include sales tax AND tips that were charged on a credit card. The 1099-K income is always overstated, sometimes by a significant amount. The sales tax and tips have to be reported as income and then they are expensed out on the tax return. Regular bookkeeping wouldn't do this, but since the 1099K is an important puzzle piece, we have to make the accounting fit the reporting. I'm curious why the client didn't give you the form 1099K? And, it would help if we knew the what kind of business. RitaB is totally correct that unless the income was received only via credit card payments, it is very fishy that the underreported income would be such a large amount. I could see something like happening if the client sold via the internet only and charged sales tax and netted shipping charged against shipping expense. Another thing is that the credit card payments probably don't match with client's records since December 2014 sales might not be deposited to the bank until January, although there is a reversing effect since Dec 2015 might not show up until Jan 2016. I hope the guy is just dumb and not a crook. Crooks are so disheartening...

I wait until the last minute unless I'm really bored during the summer. I do prepare extensively and early for peer reviews, though.

Yes. Any praise of the Seahawks and I wing my iPad across the room like a frisbee. I must avoid those sites. The warranty has expired. -

There are about a million online ways to express political opinions, enjoy political humor, argue political ideology, etc. I'm fine with this one site being "clean" of politics. Politics, religion, and football are pretty sensitive topics IMHO and best left to forums dedicated to those issues. -
JohnH, this makes me think of the "I'm Billing Time" song!

Same guy as last year is stringing me out until the very last second again, so he gets fired. He owes $60k. I've explained the pain that a failure to file penalty will cause him. Still, I will be begging for the signed 8879 forms up until around 3PM on 10/17.

Thanks Judy! I'm going to prepare the 1120X

I was going to ask your thoughts on form 1139 vs. 1120X for a corporate loss carry back. I would rather file the 1120X. Any advice? Thanks!
