I know many who do not. When I was a teacher, I spent more.

I got a text from someone today, I have no idea who: "Hi, Rita! Please don't tell me we owe this year." You got it, whoever you are, I won't tell you. Probably another one who thinks I finish returns and let them collect dust for a while since I don't really need to be paid. Evidently, it is somebody who captured my number last year. I do like to text people if it's late to tell them their return is ready. I refuse to answer my cell phone if I don't know who it is, and I never enter a client's information. That works, too. Hahahaha.

Yes. And, make sure she knows it's not a standard amount, and if she happened to spend more than $250, the excess goes to Sch A. I have to explain to somebody every year that it's not an automatic deduction, you have to have paid out of pocket. And, I think most teachers think it's a $250 credit, they are so excited about it.

I will only answer the phone between 8 - 6 Mon - Fri. I also never answer the 8 am call on Monday morning. That one is always a probem. lol. I just checked my answering machine, and it was a guy I finished a month ago wanting to know how much his refund was. You know, dude, if you had just come in when I called to tell you it was ready, you would know... I honestly think I would lose my mind if I worked out of my home. I remember the call I got at home on Easter Sunday a few years ago. That guy never became a client. IF you know what I mean. Who does that????

Only if you show up between 11 pm and 5 am and bring Grover Clevelands.

Went to Walmart for groceries, then church with everything still in the car. After lunch, we wrangled a cow to give her antibiotics, and put a band on a calf (to castrate him). Hope you men aren't eating right now. Made Thanksgiving dinner for supper, as my "little" kids are home from Tech for spring break. Chicken, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, turnip greens, rolls. It's our celebrate meal. (Hey Joan, I actually had a vegetable, yay!) Also watched Walking Dead. Actually, the kids watch it, and I sit there with my hands over my eyes cause I hate it. They are like: "Mom. It's not even scary."

Dear Client, Thank you for dropping in Friday night at 6:30 on your way to dinner to see how your return is looking. It's a good thing you did that because I finish returns and forget to tell people all the time. You know, because I don't really want to be paid, I just enjoy paying business expenses and being hounded by people, and I have a tree at home with all the Benjamins I need. Enjoy your dinner.

ATX 2012 Needs to Be Fixed as It will affect us in 2013 as Well
RitaB replied to joelgilb's topic in General Chat
When I got my new computer, we were unable to restore returns from the old computer. I have not tried it again now that I have returns on the new computer. I'm afraid to try it. I have my doubts about rollover and / or conversion, too. -
Bahahahaha, oh, that's hysterical, Marco.

I am so sorry, Marie. I have been afraid to install it. Will keep holding off on that. Thanks for the info, wow, I'm sorry.

Yes, it's slow for me as well. And is all that glitter necessary? We are nerds, not video gamers. Reminds me of a saying, "Big hat, no cattle." Seems like lipstick on a pig. Ok, enough farm talk. I don't get the logic behind (ok, any of this) the procedure to opt out of bonus depreciation, either. Not at work, and I'm too tired to remember exactly what the tabs say, but it seems to me that it's not intuitive at all. Like you do the opposite of what makes sense. Once I realized what to do, I just did it, cause none of us have time to be mad I guess. lol. And I was thinking yesterday, when I select an ER in the Payer Manager, and the ER name does not appear with the rest of the info, I just enter it and thank God that's all that's wrong. I have not even noticed a post about that, maybe I'm the only one, but this would have been a major irritant last year, and this year, I'm just going, "Ok, if this is the worst thing that happens today, it will be ok." Hahaha, I guess I am whipped.

Well, it did not escape my attention that a couple of them could use Spell Czech. And, we obviously have cornered the market on red 72 point font, too.

Is it me, or does it seem that we on this board are having on easier time with the downloads? Well, except for 12.8, which KILLED me. When I read on HERE, I am tempted to download 12.10 on the XP computer, where the program is sluggish. Everything else is lightning speed on Old Nellie, so I'm not putting her out to pasture. BUT, when I read over THERE, the temptation to touch 12.10 with a 12 foot pole magically vanishes.

Well, I'm afraid I'm sounding like a sailor today. I have a client that absolutely drives me crazy. Calls in August, I tell her the scoop on Energy Credits. Mail her the scoop, too. She calls in January cause she forgot what I said, and I pull out the sheet I mailed her in August. She drops off 2/12. I tell her I will not get started for 2 weeks so chill out. She calls 2/16 to see if I need anything. I call her yesterday to say I'm done, and we spend 10 minutes figuring out when she is gonna pick up. Tues before she goes to Curves. (I really don't give a crap, lady.) She calls today and leaves message: "Just wondering if you e-filed that." I send her a text because it takes forever to get her to the phone at her work: "I will e-file after you pickup and sign." No response. I send her a text: "Do you receive text messaging?" She calls: "Did you send me a text message? Cause I get them, I just don't answer them." She is chewing. I am starving. I really want to kill her. I slammed down the phone and cussed a blue streak.

Hey, I explained that 3 friends thing, you must not have seen my post. Don't remember where it was. It's not you! It's a trick, trust me.

I sorta figured tickie was ticket, but it sounds like tickle, and I was feeling sorry for myself, and nevermind. LOL.

My eyes! My eyes! Seriously though, I am holding off on 12.10 because look what they are saying over there. I'm like, what do I to do? As long as I'm getting returns done, I can live with this version till they force me to update. Am I just a chicken? Yes, but a live chicken is better than a dead duck. And, I actually ran over a duck yesterday, so I know this. Was driving too fast, snow on the road. I thought it was a bird and would fly away. The only thing flying when I looked in the rearview mirror was feathers... I felt soooo bad...

Wow, our clients should wait? WE should wait? Do they think we have been on vacation sipping sweet tea or something while they figure this out? Do they not know we have been working our butts off to get out 1/2 the returns? Do they think we have time machines and can hop in them when everything is working and nobody was really inconvenienced after all? Or do they think time will be magically extended so we can get everything done? I think we paid for a program with the expectation that we could produce accurate tax returns on Day 1 with at least the same efficiency as last year. That's how business usually works. WTH? And, we are supposed to be happy about all this? Really? They should be mailing out refund checks to EVERYBODY instead of busting people's chops.

"And don't forget my $236 in "tithes" and the blank donation receipt for my three bags of crap I couldn't sell at the yard sale. Put whatever I'm allowed." lol.
-
That is great news! I am also wondering whether or not the update will cause problems. On the other forum someone asked, "What do you think 12.10 will do?" A poster answered, "I think it will make my computer burst into flames, the logical next step." That was hysterical, but I feel really sorry for those who can't get a return out the door. I sure hope 12.10 helps everybody.

Those energy credits have been a royal pain. I have a client on deck now with all these purchases he thinks qualify, because they DID qualify in some earlier year for somebody. And so I will go the extra mile to prove a negative, which really bites, so he won't lose confidence in me. Last year he had windows that didn't qualify. That was actually pretty easy to prove because the certificate had the area of the country where those windows qualified shaded. There was Tennessee, white as snow. I still have people who can't itemize bringing me their property tax receipts, too. They still think I'm adding it to their standard deduction.

Did you see this thread? The second post made me laugh till I cried. https://community.atxinc.com/forums/thread/135108.aspx

Apparently so. And, I'm over it.

I would sooooo "like" this, but I have been cut off from liking for the day. You know, they both sound pretty good, better than even "workaround" and "specs".

It's not just you, Marilyn, this is a special kind of nightmare. I haven't had a vegetable in two weeks. I haven't been home during daylight hours, except Sunday, for the same length of time. I got your low resources right here, you hourglass on my screen from $#%%. And, I have no idea what tickie is, just for the record.
