Or we can just drag you around on those stretcher-type deals made out of poles and saddle blankets they had on Gunsmoke when somebody got snake bit. How about that? I'm pumped.
-
Of course! We can do a movie: "The Unofficial ATX Board: Grand Canyon or Bust"!
-
Are you kidding?? We could ride pack mules and shoot at mountain goats. Similar to our jobs.
-
I have wanted to see the Grand Canyon ever since the Brady Bunch went. Let's meet up!

That's so nice! I had a little lady pay me $100 for her $85 return because I had faxed some paperwork for her. Then she had to come back the next day and have me fax it again because she had completed something incorrectly. I really did not mind at all, but she appreciated it so much, and gave me a big hug. I almost cried. Then, this jack@$$ came in and I snapped out of it.

Purchased. Inherited. I miss you, old friends. I am in the softy mumbling to myself stage. When does everything become funny? Did I imagine that?
-
Getting really tired of typing that in. Getting really tired of everything.

Agree, get an extension, cause there is always that 1099-C that they thought you didn't need (that's not taxable, is it?), and the job they forgot about. Oh, and it wasn't my year to claim my kid after all...
-
I actually love those days when I am so over it that everything is funny. Yeah, the "I don't give a crap" stage. Sounds fitting. Right now, I am still in the "I need a nap" stage. By nap I mean small coma. Hopefully, come Monday...

The most frustrating part of tax season is that I wake up between 4 and 5:30, without the alarm, even on Sunday, when I don't work, and church doesn't start till 10:45. It is maddening. But my underwear is clean, so I guess it works out.

I know! When they insist on yakking: ("This is your busy time, huh?"), I start opening envelopes, throwing them away, rolling up glue balls, handing back the donation receipt, even though they can't itemize: "You need to decide what your three bags of clothes and microwave were worth, all microwaves are not created equal..." Oh, and here's your electric bill. Looks like it was due Thursday.

Yes, I set it that way when I finally figured out what the deal was. Live and learn. I wish the error messages were less mysterious, ain't nobody got time for this. Error: OMGcanyoujusttellmewhatiswrongalready.

Never mind, I think I found it. Illinois e-file beat the Federal: http://cchsfs-atx.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13206/~/irs-rejections-state-901-and-state-902-%28atx%29

E-file rejection (yeah, I know it goes over there in "e-file", but nobody is over there, humor me) "The IRS submission ID referenced in the State Submission Manifest must be present in the e-file database." Well, of course, it must. And, I have no idea what to do about it.

Elderly client, 1099-B proceeds, no cost provided

Drive it like you stole it. Run like Julia Roberts is waiting at the finish line with a super stuffed burrito. -
Wow, bummer, huh? I think it's just going to go exactly like you think. Once I put the wrong bank numbers on a return, so I loaned the clients the amount of the refund until they got it. I knew them very well, though, and was not concerned about them ripping me off. They didn't.

LTCG rate is zero for her. It's making some of her SS benefits taxable, isn't it? Yes, I would take a stab at it, looking at enough data to be sure I wasn't using a really unusual year. She only needs the cost to about 1850, right? I'd say that would be very easy to justify. -
I keep the federal copy for my files. And, even if I didn't, these forms practically fall apart at that perforation.

Long term capital gain rate will be zero either way. I would let it go. -
Can it really be true???? 12.13 an answer to prayers?
RitaB replied to Ray in Ohio's topic in General Chat
I am sitting here on 12.9, and doing well. Couple of irritating things that I work around. Is it ok to intall 12.13 from here? I think yes, but I also think I will wait a while to do it. Maybe the 16th. lol. -
And the glue balls on Form SSA-1099. Grrr. And the W-2's put out by my great county government with the carbon paper in there, and the numbers are always on top of a line. But, other than that...
-
I really would like 5 minutes with the people who perforate forms right smack in the middle of the form. Not between copies of the form, in the middle of the copy of the form. Other than that, I'm fine.
-
Yes, I believe so, if it's too early when you try it, it'll just be rejected, no harm, no foul.
-
I do this a lot, too: 1) Look in the cabinet. Nothing to eat. 2) Look in the fridge. Nothing to eat. 3) Lower standards and repeat.

Yes, see NYTaxLady's post above mine. A lot of people in the trenches posting helpful information, too. A lot of whining, and people posting before they seach, but if you can wade thru that...
