  1. Squirrels are the worst. It's like they TRY to get run over. Back and forth, back and forth. No more braking. I'm done.
  2. OMG, yes, and the new client, whose previous preparer (if you can call it that) retired, and it's like he has never heard any of this. I look at her return, and IRS is apparently not even trying. Never seen so many business miles, pretty sure you can't even drive that much in a year unless you work for NASCAR, and home mortgage interest on the Sch C, just because he put it on the organizer there, and she didn't care, and OMG...
  3. Yeah, I kinda hate everybody right now. Especially the retired attorney who called on 2/24 saying he would have his two S-Corps and three partnerships to me by 2/28. Not seen hide nor hair of him. That kidder.
  4. I don't have any of these as clients, but they are not scarce when it comes to showing up at my office saying, "Let's work together and help these clients." Meaning: "Send me your clients, cause I don't know what I'm doing. Oh, and no, I didn't talk to you in high school, but let's have lunch and see how we can work together now. Since you have lots of clients and I don't."
  5. What I REALLY love are the Realtors (and why do we capitalize that?) who have a spreadsheet of expenses, list every transaction, usually in the same column with a note to the side. They don't know how to format, so decimals are not lined up. And they use 2 point font. Except for that one entry in 14. Also don't know how to add the column, which would be useful, even though everything is in one column. At least I would know if I missed anything. I'll take the hair dresser handwritten totals with a big spot of dye and the arrow saying "I spilled dye on this, sorry, Rita, I love you, :)" and ignore the do-overs and gift certificates any day.
  6. I owe you one.
  7. Thought I'd start one up for clients, since this JUST happened to me: Client, do not wait until you pick up your return to ask if vehicle sales tax is still deductible. Oh, you spent $45,000 "out the door"? You don't say...

  8. So would I. But he would never leave me, since I always gave him the depreciation schedule and didn't charge like a Philadelphia lawyer.
  9. I've noticed that even if I save and close a return, then re-open, sometimes the name of the form issuer still doesn't show up, even though it's there in the drop down list. This is not the end of the world, but irritating, since you know, I do want the issuer in the payer manager, every dang thing I entered, and said as much. Always happens on the people with nine forms from State Street.
  10. I don't track clients down. And, I think that's a good idea, to not track them down. The first time you forget, you're the bad guy. And, I try to handle little things that take under two minutes immediately, rather than try to get back to them later. I think I probably got that from JohnH, and that it was in a book he read. I forgot all the details except the tip.
  11. I always enter the "certain distributions" on line 4 of Form 8880, whether it's currently necessary or not, so I don't have to find that information later. Also give a copy to client in case (gasp) they ever leave or forsake me. I always give client a depreciation schedule. It's the right thing to do.
  12. Don't you mean BAHAHAHAHA BAHAHAHAHA BAHAHAHA ( )?
  13. Haha, be careful or he will back off enough to get EIC, and he'll be eating better than us.
  14. You are right, I was just thinking about selling calves less than a year old. Gotcha. "Wife won't release slips" - sounds like you got yourself a doozy there.
  15. We got your back, and you got ours, Girlfriend.
  16. In the spirit of ranting, yesterday I had a guy finally pick up his 2012 return which has been laying here since December. He mentioned three times that he almost had 2013 ready to bring me. I didn't give him a button. On the way out, he informed me that Junior needs to fill out FAFSA, so he'll bring 2013 next week. I told him Junior will be guessing on FAFSA and correcting it later. And have a nice weekend.
  17. Me, too, and you can use the down arrow and go thru fairly quickly. Not as good merging the e-file Manager with Return Manager, but I'll take it compared to what we had, which was zero.
  18. So jealous.
  19. Me, too. We go to church, eat lunch, and sit in the living room watching TV and talking. It's like heaven. Also caught church tonight. It was like an AA meeting. Attitude Adjustment.
  20. And how about printing the Sch B because I checked the box at printout time instead of making me go to the Sch B and check that box at the top? Oh, you thought I didn't really mean it? It reminds me of EFTPS asking if I'm really, really sure I want to log out. Well, yeah, I think so.
  21. Agree. They sound like a cute couple. My opinion is that somebody is going to be mad. Period. Unless one preparer sits down with both and does four returns to really spell it out. I hate these situations. I hate EIC.
  22. That's only because you have never had a call in June: "Miss Rita, we still haven't received the direct deposit of our refund, can you check on that?" Thank God it was a refund, and they are very gracious people. I am looking at their paperwork right now. Seriously, we all make mistakes, and nobody here is stupid. I just took 15 checks to the bank, and I thought: I don't even know how I do this and keep a smile on my face. Have 30 meetings to take this amount of money to the bank when I know doctors and attorneys who can't find their butt with both hands and a flashlight. It's kind of ridiculous really. My advice is just always own your mistakes. Tell the truth and make amends (see what I did there - "amends"?). If the client walks, you have 14 others in three days alone. And Tom, my friend who pretends to be afraid of me, I think this probably is the fault of ATX, and your client won't care, but I do.
  23. Oh, haha, I thought you had figured out a solution to what I have been mad about for 100 years. haha
