  1. Yeah, and the $230 "tithes" and blank receipt from Goodwill. I heard THAT!
  2. Every year. This guy comes in with his W-2 only. Me: Hey, remember you itemize? You have mortgage interest, real estate tax, church contributions? Guy: Oh. That helps? Yes, and it has helped every year for seven years now. Guy makes $95k. I don't get it...
  3. It's overrated. And I also put people who drop off on Saturday, when I am NOT open, on the bottom of the following Monday stack. Cause I can.
  4. Yes, just like they must think calling and telling me they are working on it means something.
  5. Patrick, I was unable to get the 2014 letter to handle an amended return and print the mailing address. First time I've had that problem, and I know you've been here awhile, too. I finally gave up. Decided my client couldn't read anyway, and that's why I had to do an amended return.
  6. That's how a lot of us Tennessee girls get married up. Truth.
  7. Holy web cam, Batman. Or, Cat Woman.
  8. I like to keep both unless somebody is acting like an idiot. Sometimes you can't work with both, but I really think it can be helpful to everybody if people are cooperative and act like they have some sense. Some here will say it's always impossible, and I would agree with that, but then we'd both be wrong.
  9. I would read this and respond, but I can't find my glasses.
  10. This reminds me of when another preparer asked me to do a return for her because she was on vacation. The taxpayer was in the business of selling sex toys. Preparer said to me, "Do NOT look at her website or you will have to scrub your brain."
  11. Yes. pain is overrated. In God we trust, all others pay cash.
  12. Aww, thank you, Catherine, and everybody. My daughter took the photo, and one of my sons cut that tree off the road, and there are volunteers all over doing that. My church is Red Cross warming center. Very thankful and everything is going well, all things considered. The energy company did not get to my road yesterday, but I met them again this morning. So much to be done, but everything is good.
  13. Yeah, I'm gonna have to say: You ahem "win", mrichmann333.
  14. We have been sleeping on my office floor, and I have grill marks on my @$$ from rolling over the floor vents, but I am very thankful for a warm place to stay. I took the ice out of the freezer at home yesterday because I thought it might start melting. It's still in cube form in the sink this morning. I met the energy company on the way back to work with three light poles, you better believe I waved. Here's a pic of the average of every road in our county:
  15. Absolutely. I worked summers as a waitress back in the 80s and paid for college that way. It was doable, too. Tuition is ridiculous now because of all the easy money we throw at everybody. So the price goes up. Of course it does. Paying for three to go has been tough. And, it makes my kids sick, too, to see some of their friends MAKE money on grants.
  16. Rather than re-enter all the 45 - 50 assets, I'll just rollover from 2013 and re-enter 2014 transactions. That will be way quicker. I'm just afraid they will disappear again. So, I'm leaving that return over here in my floor filing system for a while. No, it's not good...
  17. Hahaha, I love you, too, RitaL. We are actually doing ok. Here's the baby:
  18. Nothing yet. Marilyn said she would have somebody from tech support call me. Stand alone (so alone), Windows 7 Pro, 25 degrees here, and I have been without power at home since Saturday. Huge ice storm. 40 degrees in the house. Bottle feeding a calf. 70 degrees in the office. I'm dealing with this ok so if everybody would just back off already OMG. /s
  19. I just finished a return with a Sch C with 20+ assets and a Sch F with 20+ assets. Form 4562 and fixed assets just vanished. Unlike the poster on ATX, I don't have the depreciation amount on the Schedules still. Hmmmmm. This is perplexing. I emailed Marilyn who helped with another issue a couple of weeks ago. Obviously, I can rollover again, and re-enter everything, but it may happen again, so I'm going go to the next one in the stack and hope I hear something soon.
  20. Hey, JB, tell him he got $54,000 in tuition and stuff that RitaB's kids did not get. Plus RitaB paid SE tax on her $54,000 that is gone. Maybe that will help. Here I am judging again. Sorry. Nah, not really. And how does that happen, that his student loan debt is cancelled two years out of school? Was I so mad about ObamaCare that I missed that one?
  21. Yep, me too, two weeks. I imagine we are all pretty normal. Well, considering everything.
  22. I think they've had that for awhile now. Not to be argumentative, and I'm really letting this go now. In 3, 2, 1...
  23. Sometimes I give up on something I want to post cause I don't want to take the time to pre-address every misconception that is going to happen. And we are the people who pay attention to detail.
  24. Would it kill you, UPS guy, to air out for 30 seconds before you come in here?
  25. Yes, I have checked "let the program decide" and there is no state return. I'm done with this issue until I have some free time, which I guess will be May, but I appreciate the comments and suggestions. I just wish the program did what it has always done and print the mailing address on the letter when you have a 1040X. Just leave $#^& alone already.
