I initiate payments thru EFTPS for most of mine. I've had to eat a penalty or two, but like cbslee, I'm pretty good now. Have my cheat sheet of companies for which I send payroll, sales tax, business tax. I put a check mark when I submit a payment, works for me. I prefer doing it over depending on the client to do it.

I turned away parents of my kids' classmates. The wife once told me about their refund and how they didn't make estimated tax payments. I know their lifestyle cannot be supported by EIC level income. When she asked if I was taking new clients, I told her no. The kids get lots of grants to go to college, too. Don't get me started, this is rampant here.

I KNEW IT! All those times you said you were scared of me you were just being sweet. I knew it. I love you, Tom. -

Eh, when you're in a six year divorce and the other side refuses to proceed to the Halls of Justice, you start Googling.

Well, a client once told me that an HRB preparer here pulled out an EIC table and coached him as to where the "sweet spot" was. He mighta been lying, but I don't know why he would tell me that if it wasn't true. And I think other preparers do that, too. Got a client years ago from a well known CPA here, CPA holds a public office (his day job), does returns on paper and claimed 100% of household utilities as business expense for the wife, who sold Avon. Stored it in a closet. Didn't even complete the Form 8829. I'm sure he didn't have time for that crap. I just want to stone everybody, equal opportunity critic here.

I DO proofread mine. Make a couple of corrections. Try to make a third correction, and it's too late. That's why I posted back-to-back up there. Haha.

So, he was due EIC and they missed it?

Well, a single person with one W-2 who did have health insurance. Which is what you meant, I think. Agree with you on the fees. I get a lot of clients from them because of that. But they advertise enough to get new people every year. So it works for them, I suppose.

I have two in college, and it's rough, BECAUSE OF FINANCIAL AID. When money is being handed out left and right, tuition increases. What do we get for our increased tuition? ADMINISTRATORS. Oh, and my health insurance - the premiums are always paid, my medical bills are always paid. It's not good enough now, and I had to get a better policy yesterday, with a HIGHER deductible for $161 MORE a month. There's two examples of what happens when the government helps. -
I think you did a great job, too. And thank you for not suggesting to him that she made a few thousand dollars so she could receive EIC. That happens, and it gets old and tired when you pay taxes.

Shut up, Ron, you don't know me, you don't know my life.

Hahaha, I'm sitting here thinking what a silly, impossible request they are making. Maybe we can all write letters saying we didn't pay the kid to do anything at our offices. -
Don't tell me what to do. Oh, wait - ok.
-
They didn't have enough withheld, did they? Well, that's the stupid employer's crystal ball's fault, not yours.
-
And the ADDED ADDED bonus is that the gross income is on a W-2. How many self-employed people report gross income? Just us. I'm telling you, they need to lighten up on employers, and they would ultimately collect a lot more revenue. Everybody would be happy, cause all my clients think withholding is a fringe benefit of the employer. They have no clue it's their money. I swear, when they ask how they can get a bigger refund, and I say "have more withheld," they think I'm a tax wizard.

I think the tax return with zeros is perfect. It's all there - zeros and signature swearing that it's the truth. Maybe attach a statement saying consult the yellow pages if you want to follow up with the 3,400 banks. -
I really wonder if they would give her a high five.
-
Shut up no you shut up.

OK, I was so aggravated today at the two who called and one who came by to see how their very special tax returns were "coming along," my daughter said I needed a Snicker Bar. I want to just offer everybody a Snicker Bar and report that I AM going to write it off:
-
For whom? I hope you don't mean we should help people cheat by not asking questions. Half of us can only pay the taxes for all of us for so long, you know, till something breaks. Forgive me if I misunderstood your comment, but that's all I can come up with. Unless I missed the "/s". In that case - yeah, haha.
