Yes, that is a great rule of thumb. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I ABANDONED IT NOW. AAUGH!!!!!!

Well, well, well. Looky there. Guess who forgot to order toner? :wall:

Spent about an hour trying to update from Samsung. Couldn't even find an update. Tried to download driver. It's already there. Anyhow, I reached back there and changed USB ports for the mouse, and it SEEMS to have solved my problem. Well, one of my problems...

New monitor has that new-fangled MultiScreen option, which I have to exit in order to open old ATX programs. Only wasted an hour of time on stressing over it, e-mailing ATX (who totally misunderstood the issue, SURE your name is "Peggy"). Found the temporary solution here, thanks to you all. SO NOW, mouse won't function while printer is busy. A bit infuriating at the present time. Batteries are new. No cat hair or crumbs. Mouse works fine if it's the only thing working. A big nothing if the printer is busy. Do you know how much I need to use this mouse when the printer is busy? Yes, I think you do. Any ideas? Besides "patience is a virtue"?

Yes, Catherine, thanks for the info. Margaret, my mouse is acting up, too. I don't know if it's an issue with the new monitor or what. Craaaaazzyyy is the right word!

Right now we are thinking of chucking our businesses and going to the nuthouse. Yeah, call me tomorrow, I'll have lots of time to discuss 2011. Hahahaha.
-
Yes, I think you made the better choice for ME, too. Geez. LOL.

Thank you! I had to buy a new monitor a couple of days ago. Mine is capable of displaying the screen in up to four sections, or so they say. Was not even a consideration with me, and I have NO IDEA how to actually make this happen, but I hope to figure it out later. Haha! I just wanted a monitor. I pulled out a 14 inch one when the one I was using died, and realized I am actually blind compared to 10 years ago. LOL. I couldn't get to Staples fast enough after eight hours of that.

Thanks for the post, Kea. My problem was MultiScreen. Will figure it out later. For now, I just exited MultiScreen. Whew.

I need to prepare a 2009 return, and guess what? The program won't open. It acts like it's going to, then it's gone. Same thing happened when I tried to open 2008, and even 2004 (Saber). Other programs open - Peachtree, Word, Excel. Hmmm. Any idea what's going on?

Actually, it sounds like the issuer did not code the 1099-R incorrectly. Technically, your client did NOT roll it over; he was given a check. Therefore, the payer cannot code it G. You might want to mail this return with explanation and proof of the timely deposit into another retirement account.

You are my new best friend, and if I weren't dating myself, I would pick you.

I was born in 1964, but I was hoping the date was close. OOPS, busted.

Yes, and you wonder if you are really at a Neil Young concert in 1965, and you are not even an accountant. And, then, there's that phone ring that brings you back to the harsh reality that this is REAL and no cows are involved at all.
-
Or, am I just expecting too much?

Had a problem where 1040-ES would not print with the rest of the return when selected. I had to print the vouchers one at a time. (No, that is not related to your problem at all.) Another thing, it is grueling to do a partnership return, or big individual return. Takes forever. Slow as smoke off cow patties in February. Is it my computer or ATX?

Hope that client is involved in a legal matter soon. Then two weeks will seem like nothing. And, your bill will seem like nothing. Clients like that need a reality check. Or, a size 11 boot up their, uh, nose.

Good to know. Thank you. -
Contributions to ROTH IRA's are withdrawn before earnings. So, no, this is a return of contributions and not taxable. The issuers only know how to sell investments, not enter correct codes. Sorry, that was uncalled for. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. I am really grouchy. Just had a noncustodial parent (client is custodial parent) in here arguing with me about taxes. Uh, YOU were in jail, your daughter did not live with you...

Dave, I don't think she deleted the Form 8606, but she deleted the ENTRY on line 26. And, she entered the basis in the ROTH on line 29.

Love it! Stealing it right now. LOL. (Love old ladies)

First, let me say: Rita L, WOW. I prayed for you today. Secondly: I am so far behind, I met myself on the road this morning.

If I had it in my power, I would back WAY off on the refundable credits. I am REALLY sick of seeing tax dollars spent that way.

Well, there you go. We are so fortunate to have each other, guys. Can't tell you how much I appreciate this board.
