You might want to hold off on the NOL if you plan on carrying it back. The new law which will be signed by the President Tuesday, has a provision for year 2008 only, to carryback 5 years instead of 2.

Some plans have a hardship provision where the participant can borrow the money and then pay it back. Your client would have to read the plan that she received from the employer.

Can't seem to find the worksheet on the lower left list on Schedule D or is it me?
I have a client who had taxable income of $1737 and the tax was zero. At first I thought there might be a programming error but then realized that this worksheet kicks in since he had qualified dividends and a stock sale. I was able to download the worksheet and did it manually to verify that the tax of zero is correct.
If it is not in the program it should be and I'll notify ATX if that is true but I don't want egg on my face if it is actually there in the program.

Don't see how SSA can handle it because it does not affect only social security recipients but also those who receive disability well as retired government workers who are ineligible for social security. I suspect we will be filing returns similar to last year. I'm not complaining ... more money for us.

I've used databazaar for years without any problems. They are located near Miami so I get my cartridges the next day but I did order three last week to get me through the season. I'll be checking them carefully. Thanx for the heads up!

Why do you feel like an idiot? Are you supposed to have a crystal ball and foretell what Congress will do or not do?
I had a client once who bought a crystal ball for her business. Before I finished her return she asked if she was getting a refund. I said don't you know? There was a hesitation and then she said the crystal ball doesn't work for her, only her clients!

As I understand the post office system, they work from the bottom up in the address.
So it gets sorted by city and state, then the next line up. If the PO box is on that line then that's where it is delivered.

But it wasn't a sale of a principal residence since you said they never lived in it.
I would enter it on Schedule D just like you would enter a sale of long term stock and make the cost basis the same as the selling price.
