  3. "Of course he has no income" How can you be so sure? To answer your question, however, she can file MFJ but you would need to know more info to see if MFS would be better. taxbilly

  6. When trying to start the program I get the following: "The database is being optimized. Please try starting the program again." I tried: 1) Rebooting. 2) Turning off computer and unplugging then plugging. 3) Drilled down to C:\program files\ATX2008\ATXexe. and tried to start. 4) Ran ATX Diagnostics. Still dead in the water. Any other suggestions before I try ATX support (Don't even know if they are open today). taxbilly

KC is correct. Sorry I didn't express myself clearly. I need to meet with new clients to determine a possible estimated tax to be paid with the extension. It usually only takes a few minutes but I don't want the new client to end up with unnecessary penalties. I do the same for my regular clients who drop off or mail in their stuff but I don't usually need to meet with them since I'm familiar with their situation and a quick phone call may or may not be needed. taxbilly

My cutoff date for drop offs and mail ins is this Friday. Any after that date may or may not be done by April 15th. If not acceptable to the client then they have the option of going somewhere else. I am tired of "squeezing in" the same people every year that could have dropped off earlier but procrastinated. It is not my problem. Guess I'm getting too old for this. I already have a full slate of appointments through March 31st. I make April appointments for new clients only. taxbilly
