  1. TAXBILLY

    1099 Misc.

I always envision with delight the IRS guy who looks at it and says "What's an IRC Sec. 183?" taxbilly
  2. TAXBILLY

    1099 Misc.

I have done what John suggested and I add: per IRC Sec. 183. 183 describes an activity not engaged in for profit. taxbilly
  3. I prefer KC's suggestion. He knows how much he got reimbursed if it was ever questioned and vehicle information is not required on a Schedule C-EZ. taxbilly
  4. May God bless her. taxbilly
  5. >>Thank you Frazzled but I do not think a 1099-c is issued after a 1099-a (acquisition or abandonment of secured property)is issued. I think I found the answer--I enter the ordinary income on line 3 of the Schedule E.<< I am curious as to where you found this answer. taxbilly
  6. When you use the lump sum worksheet you will see the letters LSE printed just to the left of line 20a, Form 1040. It is easy to miss when being processed. I highlight the letters and the line 20b in yellow to alert the key puncher. taxbilly
  7. Neil: Sorry to hear of your wife's loss. My mom passed last year at 89. taxbilly
  8. To which $250 are you referring? If it is people who are not in the social security system they will receive it on Schedule M. taxbilly
  9. Hmm. Their website just happens to be down during the busiest time of the tax season. Hmm. The poster points out that they are not affiliated with TRX yet both are service bureaus based in, coincidentally (???) Murfreesboro, TN. Hmm. taxbilly

  11. Correct. Combat pay is non taxable and therefore not included in Box 1. See Page 13: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw2w3_09.pdf taxbilly
  12. There is no "250" coming from any state. The $250 is determined on Schedule M for those who are not in the social security system and receive a government (Federal or State) pension. taxbilly
  13. Schedule M is not as complicated as some of us make it out to be. Get it out of your thinking that a credit was given during 2009. There was no credit given to anyone. The withholding tables were merely adjusted, the theory being that the economy would be stimulated if the taxpayer received a little more money in his/her paycheck. The 400/800 credit is subject to reduction because of ecoomic recovery payments received (SS,VA and RR) as well as income limits. Those who are not in the Social Security system and have a government reirement pension (Federal or State) get their $250 on Schedule M. If this is your client be sure to add the Schedule M even though he/she may not have earned income. taxbilly
  14. Old Jack, our thoughts are with you. Be careful. taxbilly
  15. I stay away from 990s since I have found its not worth the fee I'ld have to charge because I don't do enough of them to be up to date. I'm down to 8 1120s from a high of about 40 at one time. I don't take on any new ones and insist on doing all of the bookkeeping and payroll for each so our information is ready to go by March 15th. taxbilly
  16. They are state rebates and the time periods vary depending on the state: http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=rebate.appliance_rebate taxbilly
  17. I'm on 307 with 192 out the door heading for a total of approximately 800. Just me and my assistant. taxbilly
  18. Yes, use Schedule M. OPM did not send out $250 economic stimulus payments. taxbilly
  19. It's hard to educate taxpayers that getting a big refund is not a good thing. They seem to think they are making money when they get a big refund. taxbilly
  20. You probably were given the wrong installation code. Happened to me last year. Support should be able to verify your order and give you the proper number. I had to reinstall with the number but it didn't affect the data. taxbilly
