  1. Prices in TN seemed to be about 20-40% of what they are where I live, when I visited a few years ago. I got a $40 steak for $16 in TN! I would have paid more for that steak in a local butcher shop than I paid for it in a restaurant in TN. Now, admittedly, we weren't in the big cities of TN, but I don't live in a big city in MD, either.
  2. That is weird. I just customized it with a text field to add the year (arial bold 22 point).
  3. Not quite that simple: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/business-or-hobby-answer-has-implications-for-deductions And, hobbies can deduct cost of goods sold against hobby income, up to the amount of income, right on the Other Income line.
  4. 2020 rules, so if they are not a dependent in 2020, the get the full amounts of both, if income is low enough, regardless of what their parents already got for them.
  5. That's exactly correct.
  6. But that causes SE tax on a hobby.
  7. That should work, unless the programming didn't allow for a zero current year earned income. Maybe put a $1 for wages on the worksheet for that line?
  8. By 'last year' you mean 2020?
  9. Sure, but those checks come from different agencies. IRS needs a website to submit bank info, similar to Social Security's site.
  10. Sure, but who can get through to the IRS these days, and do we really want people calling for every little thing, when there are those with real IRS problems? I tried to call practitioner line during the snow storm and got a message to try again later. I thought all the preparers in the storm would be busy with snow related activities, and not calling the IRS.
  11. But it sounds like SSA doesn't forward the bank info to IRS.
  12. Look at the Social Security card and just use the first part of the last name or a shortened first name, since the IRS does not care about first names.
  13. Well, that seems to be the heart of the matter, but the only way to give the irs new bank info would be to make an estimated payment for 2020 (using direct pay) and then file for a refund. And this is just for future stimulus payments, so it should be worthwhile.
  14. Danger, Will Robinson!
  15. And did you do what the error tells you to do ?
  16. Rollover problems are usually prior year ATX server service needs restarting.
  17. I simplified it myself, years ago. I never use the 1099SA. I go straight to the 8889 worksheet and override the distributions amount line and I've already linked that line to the medical expenditures line so they match.
  18. The error is telling you to delete the dollar amounts you entered in the columns and just enter the total APTC received.
  19. If you have any crappy software installed that came with your printer (printer monitor, etc.) uninstall it. Close ATX and reopen before printing.
  20. No, it's what the monthly premiums would have been if they got zero subsidy (APTC).
  21. The bill is just now going into reconciliation so anything is possible.
  22. You should be able to efile almost any return, with very few exceptions.
  23. It is. I kept looking for it to come down on a forms update, but it never showed. It just magically became available in forms.
  24. Just pick your favorite 1099R and enter that EIN. If they don't fix this, I'll try linking the EIN from the 1st 1099R to the line 25 worksheet, just to avoid the annoyance.
