  1. CASOL was the precursor to eServices and stood for Customer Account Services On Line.
  2. Turkey lurkey doo and Turkey lurkey dap I eat that turkey Then I take a nap Turkey and sweet potato pie Sammy Davis Jr. Only had one eye Turkey for the girls and Turkey for the boys My favorite kind of pants Are corduroys (except on Thanksgiving when it's sweat pants!) Gobble gobble goo and Gobble gobble gickel I wish turkey Only cost a nickel
  3. ...request that ATX add the new 511 form, here: https://support.atxinc.com/support/FormRequest We did a lot of these by hand last year and we really need ATX to add this form. Thanks and happy Thanksgiving!
  4. Remember when MS said that 10 would be the last version of Windows? I guess 10 was enough of a disaster, that they thought they'd better move on. https://www.theverge.com/2015/5/7/8568473/windows-10-last-version-of-windows
  5. I'm sure you would have to check a box approving the update. Once it's available for your computer, you can just hide it if you don't want it. (Is the hide updates feature still available in 10?) Anyway, I'm sure you won't be forced to 11.
  6. Any who could not tell me about their stimulus payments, were filed as if they had previously received the max amount. So any IRS adjustment would only be in the taxpayer's favor, which makes clients happy... usually.
  7. I've never entered an address from a brokerage 1099. Just abbreviated name and amounts.
  8. Paranoia.
  9. I've never needed a 6198 form for a basis restricted S corp loss carryover. If the 1040 was done wrong, just amend it and use the Basis form to carryover the loss.
  10. Search ebay, Amazon or some software sites. I bought multiple copies of an older version of one program, for around 20% of what the new version cost from the company who makes it.
  11. We use AnyDesk with great success. Have used many different remote control programs over the years including PC Anywhere, TeamViewer, Remote PC and some I can't even remember.
  12. Things to try: Run the 2014 Admin Console. (Should be in your windows menu under ATX) Start or restart the ATX Server Service in Windows Services. Reinstall 2014 ATX. Download and run ATX database repair batch files. (2014 is no longer available on ATX's sites, so I'm attaching it. These should be downloaded every year, just in case you ever need them.) If these things are too techie for you, call support. ATX2014DataBaseRepair.bat
  13. Copy your data first. Don't use ATX backups or exports. Copy the ENTIRE DATABASE FOLDERS. Then when you install ATX, it will see the database and not try to create a new database. This will work flawlessly most of the time. If not ATX has database repair batch files you can download and run. If you search this forum, you'll see my post from January of 20(?) where we moved all years of ATX to a new Win10 computer, and I provided step by step instructions.
  14. I have screenshots of settings for some of my software, because who can remember all of that. When you only do something once or occasionally, it doesn't get ingrained into your brain. At least, not my brain.
  15. I love the dope slap one! I've used it before when someone pulls a bonehead like typing 'walla' instead of voilà.
  16. Many times, I've corrected carryover amounts internally and not filed an amended return, if the tax didn't change, and the IRS has never inquired. Every year is a separate bucket with the IRS and they do not verify carryover items. They're just not that sophisticated, and they may never be that sophisticated.
  17. Really? I thought the entity would remain intact with the same EIN. I had one a few years ago but the new owners had their own CPAs so I wasn't involved in the nitty gritty.
  18. Works fine here. You might need to uninstall/reinstall ATX. And if that doesn't work, contact support.
  19. I would never use an inkjet printer, even at home. Strictly lasers for me. Inkjets smear if they get wet, and they're way too slow for a busy office.
  20. There's a tax concept that if you control the rent being paid, then it will be treated as if it was actually paid, even if no cash was exchanged. Record the rent expense on the business and the rent income on the S corp that owns the building.
  21. Neither Chrome nor Edge will update automatically for me, most of the time. I've resorted to putting the installer for both, right on the desktop, so I can update manually, whenever SUMo (Software Update Monitor) tells me there's an update, or whenever I see a news article about either.
  22. Where did the actual money go? Was it a check or an electronic transfer? Or was it never actually received? If the estate received, and they paid it back out to the bene's then the income goes to the bene's. In other words, what actually happened?
  23. I could see myself working in a cool coffee shop (no chains!) in later life. I wouldn't mind doing some roasting of the beans, too. Or maybe a brewery or distillery. Or an animal shelter. All things I have an affection for.
  24. Selectively asking 'how can we afford this' makes me . Also, there's a lot of overreacting on this and I suspect the reality will not be so bad. Wait until we have details and real world examples.
