Thanks Black Bart. I wrote it after having my wine per diem. Everyone's post made me realize more and more that we need each other and we are all alike. Don't know what I would do without you.

What a great thread and original blog. It's wonderful knowing the feelings we have are universal among us. Realizing it's not like the old days, being meticulous, seasonally bi-polar, being gently threatened by the IRS, waking up in the middle of the night from a tax dream, being fried and cried, collapsing on a couch, and paying attention to our health and loving our family and friends....it's good to know we're in good company and not alone in our thoughts and trials and tribulations.

They must have a great system over there as eventually everything gets processed.....just a little slow. I always tell clients to wait for a response that it was remediated or if more info is needed or maybe never hear anything.. So like you and me and the mechanic and carpenter, things may look a little salty and rough, but it works, and we know how to fix it when it stops working.

Except for the hangover that's all good news. Money well spent on your granddaughter must have made you proud of her. I don't think you missed too much, but we recently learned that proper grammar is important to save lives, or get a hug.

It's rare, but when a situation arises where my gut feeling is that a new client is taking advantage of my good nature I will not take them on because it's an indication of what the future will be. These clients can be exhaustive in wasting your time. You know where these people are coming from. And you like to tell them where to go to. I hope I used the prepositions in the right context, I want to be correct knowing the people I'm here with.

Good for you Rita, going above and beyond for your clients to be sure they are OK is both honorable and to them, a comfort. They deserve it as they know they have to get their taxes paid, worry about it, but sadly, may forget why or when. That's where having the patience to satisfactorily get the job done gives us and them peace of mind. Means more than money hearing "thank you, I don't know what I would do without you." I know you gave these guys a hug, but for a different reason. Frank's brother is going to be talking about you at his next shuffleboard match.

Should be OK, it's not political, I think. Just good, old fashioned advice. Thanks Elrod.

How true, no one wants a rotten kid.

I read in Reuters and Politico that Sole Props are included. When they talk tax reform for a pass thru they consider Sch C since taxes on business income is paid on individual side. Really can't be certain with the one page they gave us, need to be a mind reader. If that's true I'm all for it, we all have plenty of people with Sch Cs in 25 or 28% bracket who are paying out nearly half their income the more successful they become.

After contacting them they will ask for a licensing/security/up front good faith payment. Your bank and account info would suffice so you don't have to write a check. They make is so easy.

Happy spring to all you hard working professionals.....

The flowers must be more beautiful when you're retired Elrod, more time to stop and smell the roses. -
Very sorry for your loss Gail. And yes, always, some things are more important than others as we are reminded of so often. I lost my Dad in '12 and there is always something that happens that I know his presence is still there. I'm sure you'll feel that too. Take good care of yourself and those around you.

I would just tell them "Good luck."

Just checked my machine while I'm away and message from client at about 1pm, "Hi, Bill, just wanted you to know I just made the deposit for my extensions." I'm contemplating whether to call him or save a dime and let him wait for the government to contact him. And, he's SE and pays no est payments. Must be a penalty or two or three in there.
-
I considered myself done early Sunday morning when I checked on a few acceptances. On 4/11 I emailed all my stragglers asking if they wanted an extension to contact me. The usual 2 did not. Last night they both called and left messages. I'm off on my annual regain my sanity tour so I emailed them with brief instructions to file their own online. That felt really good, so good.

I agree with Catherine. Explain to your clients the situation, they'll understand and you will feel better and so will your Dad seeing you. My thoughts and prayers are with you Gail. You're a good daughter.

I think you need Rita to give him a talking to, then everything will be fine after the 18th when he takes you out to dinner and tells you he's sorry. This business is hard on our spouses these 3 months, so we need to be the better person and understand their frustrations, I know, I've been buying her a new pair of shoes every week. And that helps to keep the covers on my side.

You're a good son TerryD. Being there for your Mom will be a great comfort to her. Take care.

I recently was offered Drake '16 to try out. I did give it a go in 2013 and wasn't comfortable with it, probably didn't give it a good enough tryout as I've been with ATX since Sabre and it was like teaching an old dog new tricks, although I don't think I'm that old so I am teachable, wasn't patient enough. But I hear so much good about Drake that I want to find out why it gets such good grades and give it a try again.

What's the latest on the silent tax return regarding health insurance?
FDNY replied to Cathy's topic in General Chat
She is our fearless Queen as she already has us organized with sharp pointy pencils to arrive at Leavenworth in T account formation. We're not worried. -
Real bummer. Had a day of it the other day and you get behind so fast. Darn Comcast, always trying to enhance the experience.

A kiss for your finger, always makes you feel better.

If you're in this business long enough you'll have a slew of clients' kids who are either living at home, on their own, and with college degrees, some going to grad school, who become your new clients. I find them neglectful in timely returning authorization forms so I start contacting them April 1st so I don't get jammed up this week (like that works). When I get the forms back many times there is no check. Now I have to contact them again and the answer I hear is so common, "I thought my parents paid." When I was in their position I wouldn't even think of asking my parents for anything because I knew the answer would be no,

I have a sentence at the end of my January letter, "Please remove all documents from envelopes to prolong the life of my shredder." This way I could tell who reads the letter or who I am wasting paper on.

I think you've hit the nail on the head Judy. People, we've got a wide spectrum of humanity, the good that we go out of our way for and the bad that we need to babysit and make sure they do the right thing. It really burns me up that the last week when things can be hectic we have to chase after those that are sitting on their packages, like they are afraid there is poison in our tyvex envelopes. I'm planning on my annual getting out of town Monday. Got a list, checking it twice to be sure I did my job in contacting all those April fools that keep us hanging.
