Without a doubt, that's why I keep Catherine on speed dial if I get stuck and frustrated.

If the dividend income still shows up on return I think you could delete it on line 24. I hate this form, NY's is much easier.
-
Also worksheet for line 15 is used to adjust SS. I'm not laughing because I rarely do one of these and know they can be a bit of a brain teaser.
-
Did you try worksheet for line 14e? I'm sure Catherine will know what to do if that doesn't work.

Don't do what I did. Took part 1 and passed, then waited too long to study for part 2 as life got in my way and the 2 years expired, time flies. This was over 10 years ago and now I'm too old, I mean older and not interested anymore. I would take part 2 first, getting the hard part over with will give you great incentive and be able to easily get it done. Good luck!

I have a client who called and wanted to get rid of his HELOC. I told him to wait until we get some more clarification. Your post did just that as my gut feeling was that his HELOC was OK as it was used for improvements that are still on going. You saved me some research time, Thanks, Bill.

Not seeing that here, but to be honest with you, nothing would surprise me if that is happening to some but not others.
-
Now I can finish my own return. Almost forgot where I left off.
-
I agree. If he stopped at main office first, the distance to the job site and back to office is deductible.
-
I'm seeing the same, many clients getting too much more take home than is realistic, I've advised to update W4. There is going to be a lot of unhappy people next year.

I love HP printers, hate their computers, had to return one some years ago. I have 4 HP Laser printers, the oldest must be at least15 years old still works fine. The newest being about 4 years old is an MP1212, does everything, black and white, very satisfied. Since toner can be expensive I use LD Products for re conditioned toner for 1/3 the price, only one defective in many years of purchasing.

I had the same situation as Max, was going on since November, then I got bumped up to a tech specialist that they said would email or call me. EServices finally did call after a week and I was able to renew over the phone with the agent. She said they are swamped with these problems with the new system. Hang in there Max, I think someone will call, any day now.

These have always been the worst clients for me to deal with because when they both want to stay with me they think they can use me as a spy or sounding board against the other. And it is worse when they have kids. Being put in difficult situations in the past I now have a policy of cutting one loose after a divorce. Of course you get to keep the nice one that way.

I have used Avast in the past, seemed to work OK but I think it uses a lot of resources. I've also used Comodo firewall (recommended by Mr. Normal) that worked well too.

That's funny, but that's why we're all considered to be tenacious.

Work, work, work, that's all they make for us.

Same problem on my laptop today. Luckily I was able to restore to a recent date and got back to reading the daily papers.

Sorry Yardley, I miss quoted the second one, would also be about $250. The last one would be 100-150. Be kind to yourself, one thing I've learned is better to charge a little more, because you're going to earn it anyway. Good luck. Bill

I didn't want to say anything because my preference is not to have fruit with my beer. The orange slice on a Blue Moon freaks me out. And when in a Micro Brewery and the person next to me has an IPA with a watermelon slice or blueberries on the bottom I loose my appetite.
-
I'm in a similar area (30mins north of Boston), I would quote $250, but mention it could be a little more or less. For your second return I would quote 100-150 depending on how I read the new client as to potential surprises. Thankfully I don't take on any more clients unless it is someone's kid or grandmother. I've turned down a few recently, were referrals but since I've reached what some would call full retirement age, not taking on the extra work felt pretty good.

The only mailing I received from an individual tax client is a wedding invitation for her son....for March 24th on Staten Island, 232 miles away from me. They're just going to have to change that date!

Let's hope ATX got the memo.

Well this is true, and a good reason for me to get it done. BTW, The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies. I played the Scarecrow in 4th grade, no brains then, working on them now.

I was given a temporary password by EServices and told to wait on confirmation letter that never arrived. Now I am finally thinking like Jack and Lion, let the client get it, they didn't keep track of everything so why should I fret about it.
