I would stay away from BHoffman and paper if I were you. And don't let Catherine walk behind you. Other than that have a good time.

Or there was a yellow warning and I missed it, got to give those yellow warnings more than a cursory look.

I had one of those EDU problems this year too. Took me some time to realize I needed the address of the college because there was no error or yellow warning. Couldn't figure out why program was not allowing the LLC. Luckily I eventually found it because I do need the sleep.

I know, that term is confusing. It is what the NY taxable amount would be for gross income less standard or itemized deductions and any dependent deductions which is used to arrive at the base tax used to apply the allocation %. I do about 6 of these a year and have to think about it each time.
-
The amount of income taxed by other jurisdiction should be the 81266 because that is the amount of income from NY that is taxed by NY, hence the credit for taxes paid is 4491. The 91727 is the divisor because it is the federal gross income used to arrive at the allocation of NY income tax. So, .886 Allocation % X 5069 Base tax = 4491. The number you should be seeing on the pervious page column of NYS income line 31 should be the 81266. I hope this is clearer than mud.

Achtung! If I were handling this I would simplify and keep it basic as much as possible to begin with because going forward it sounds like there will be other complicated factors with renovations and foreign tenants and exchange of rent for loans, almost as complicated as this run on sentence.

It builds character, increases neural pathways, and we could use the extra cash.

That extension will give you ample time to properly prepare a well deserving plot on the back 40.

Sounds like he has all his records organized, should be a snap.

If you click on the wages line in column B or the tab at the bottom, Credit for taxes paid, it takes you to a quick and handy one line worksheet in ATX for the OH info.

Ok, since we are reminiscing, some years ago in NYC I would pick up and drop off returns to some clients. There was a client Vivian, about 20 years older that me (I was in my late 30s), we always kissed and hugged each other, we had a nice relationship,. I would go there around lunchtime because she would make me peppers and eggs with crusty Tuscan bread, only cooked that for me and the local priest. One time she got a little rambunctious and all I said was, we have a good relationship, let's not complicate it. Do you think I wanted to give up those peppers and eggs? No way.

ATX site takes me to a site using a foreign language

Nothing surprises me these days. My cousin is assistant to CIO for a big insurance company and the horror stories as to what is going on makes me want to work in a concrete bunker 20 feet underground. Also, a friend of mine is retired Homeland Security, from what he tells me you can't take enough precautions. -
There are a lot of men that will stand up and with you too, many of them are right here. But I see here I don't have to worry about any of you, you can handle yourselves well and not take any ship from anyone. Joint locking techniques and killing with paper cuts? I would be careful if I was one of your clients. PS. Don't forget the deadly triangle if things get rough. A swift jab with the base of your hand under their nose will stop them in their tracks. I can't believe we're talking about killing our clients, hugs anyone? NON-VOTING POST

Looks like a variable annuity, I think they make those statements so you can't understand them because of all the fees. There must be a 1099R around for the distribution.

Here is my fortress of solitude, top floor loft (plenty of light) with my new VariDesk where I stand most of the day except when I go to the other side of the office and sit and do emails. Since I always have some quiet music in the background I've lost a few pounds from moving more. But when the Supremes or Martha and the Vandellas come on I have to stop working (I'm a sucker for Motown), I must be quite a sight.

So sorry Judy, you have so many good memories of friends and clients that when something like this happens it feels as bad as a family member. Being in this business a long time we hear of such heartbreaking stories. Like Catherine said, they tell us everything. We always have time for them and I think that is what they pick up on, we are more than their tax guy/gal, we're their trusted friend.

I'm concerned about that huge colony of penguins, just like the polar bears. During the off season I go to the Boston Aquarium and just watch the different types of Penguins, they mesmerize me. Penguins are the most social of all birds. I hope the Global Penguin Society (GPS) knows about this formerly unknown colony to help them out.

One Manhattan (no fruit) with a splash of Cointreau before you start.

Top floor of 4 level townhouse, locked file cabinets in locked file room, full house alarm system with broken glass sound and motion detectors, and attack Yorkie. If thief can get files in 1 minute before cops are on their way I don't know what else I could do.

Thank you both for your responses, they're very helpful. One client is Non Passive, was the president and he will not be the one to pony up $ to pay the stiffed CPA firm because this was a large corporation doing business in about 20 states, would be a major fee that was not paid since 2015 return, 2016 was not prepared. The corporation ran out of money a few years ago and survived on bank loans that eventually were defaulted on, these loans were for major plant expense. The product is a recycled commodity and when prices dropped substantially, so did business. Why buy recycled when you could buy new cheaper. My client claims CPA doesn't want anything to do with them as I assume books may have some deficiencies, besides non payment of fees, I can't blame him. I like Abby's last sentence (glad to see you speak Brooklynese). Thanks again.

I have 2 clients who are (were) major shareholders in a national S Corp that went bankrupt. The corporation assets and name were purchased by paying off the bank loans. This was 2 years ago but no Final return was ever filed. I questioned the CPA (who I have known for some time) and he said he has not been paid for the previous year, so he will not be doing any more work. The new company has the same name as it is widely recognized in the industry, went from an S Corp to LLC. My question is, since there is no basis for my clients and I have not been able to claim any losses since 2015 do I just keep it on un allowed losses on 8582 forever, as there will never, ever be anything reported as income to my clients, or can I just eliminate it? My reason for the question is that I want to move the returns from ProSeries to ATX and it would be a lot easier if I don't have to deal with the un allowed losses, although if I have to, it would not cause me to go into concussion protocol, just a little more work.

You should be proud of yourself for only one incident of excessive vulgarity/profanity. If it wasn't excessive it would just be routine and normal and not even get an honorable mention. Proud of you brother, keep up the good work!
