Thanks for keeping this board clean. I like the tax question to register. Enjoy your weekend.
  2. Recently received an e-mail for renewal which I have not done yet. If I renew in the month of September I will be entered into a drawing for $1000.00. Anybody get this besides me.
  3. Happy Birthday, enjoy your day. Thanks for all your advice and insight on this board. Now go and have some fun.
  4. Have not had this problem. Using Internet Explorer for browsing, earthlink for e-mail and XP. Although the internet was down for a few hours because of the rain. Sorry, I can't help you.
  5. KC. You, Don and your family have been in my prayers. I will continue to ask God for good health and strength for all of you. Please let us know how things are going.
  6. Congratulations. Grandchildren are one of God's many blessings and I thank God for mine.
  7. Does this apply to preparers from other states who file Ca returns? Do I need to get register with Ca?
  8. I agree with John, please stay on this forum. Tax questions are always helpful to expand the mind or just to get opinions. I have learned so much from everyone on this forum. I also am waiting to see what ATX is going to do before the end of the year. I really like their software and have been with them for 10 years, but recently not that happy with customer service.
  9. Hopefully Dolly missed your area and all is well. May God watch over you and your family.
  10. Sounds like a really good deal. I just love guessing games and wait and see games. Are they similiar to 'find and seek' games? Can't wait to pay or should I say play. Thanks for the laugh.
  11. RoyDaleOne, I sure would like to be the bookkeeper and be paid by each trip I account for and mark down. I might make more than preparing taxes. LOL
  12. I wonder why not offer it to all returning customers? Maybe I should wait for the toaster, too bad I don't need one. Just bought one. Well that's life.
  13. Just received an e-mail from ATX with a survey wondering why I haven't renewed yet. If I do the survey I will get a 10% discount until the end of the year. I usually renew in May. So I filled out their survey, telling them I will wait and see what ATX is doing, kind of gun shy. Told them that customer satisfaction is important to me and that is the way I run my business. Also told them about a few minor problems I had and the concern I have about the future of ATX. Felt good to vent a little and now have a 10% discount until the end of the year. I wonder if ATX or CCH is running scared about their business with still offering a discount?
  14. The executor would need the value of the stocks on the date of death unless they chose to do the 6 months after death value. In either case the broker would have those numbers. It seems with thousands of dollars in fees that the value of the stocks would be high and might need inheritance filed as well as estate filed. I know in NJ you need the state taxes filed in order to get certificates to close accounts or change names. Have the executor fight for the info to do the return. The last return would have dividends up to time of death 1/12/08, if dividends were issued. With the death being only 12 days into the year, how much income could there be? I have never sent final returns to any brokage house. All they need is death certificate. Good Luck.
  15. Thanks for all your comments. I spoke with the client and told him about a portable CPAP. He said he did not know they made them and was happy about having an additional alternative for his CPAP. He now thinks I wonderful thanks to all of you. His generator is a small portable one to run his refrig and some lights and his cpap. He was scared because he was recently diagnosed with sleep apena and still learning about it. Not taking the deduction for the box and generator was okay with him after a little convincing. What a world of knowledge is on this board and I am thankful you are willing to share.

    C S I

My first personal computer was a Tandy 1000 with 2 5 1/4 drives and no hard drive. It was both IBM and APPLE compatible. I had the both of best worlds (at least I thought that then). The printer was a dot matrix DMP-430. Again happy as a pig in s***. The printer used both 8 1/2 by 11 and green bar paper (14 inch wide). The paper had little holes on the side to be pulled through the printer on sprockets. I still have the computer, printer, instruction manuals, and a box of paper. The things we save.
  17. Congratulations and best of everything. She must be very special. The honey-do list will probably get longer as time goes by, but your love for each other should double, triple, and hundred-fold the length of that honey-do list. Wishing you many, many years of happiness.
  18. Thanks for your comments and ideas. I will suggest a portable that campers use. The client jumped to buy a generator after the last power failure, I guess he got scared knowing without his machine he could die. It really is great to have this board. Not only are you tax savvy but there is a lot of information on many topics. It was a good day for learning on my part.
  19. Client has sleep apena and requires cpap (needs electric) to sleep. cpap is considered life support. Client is filing papers with the electric company to be on their emergency list. The generator would be used when the electric goes off. Would like your comments if it is deductible as a medical expense. If so all in one year or take it over a period of time. Generator and generator panel costs about $1000.00. My thoughts would be to take the whole cost in one year. Thanks for your comments.
  20. Miss your wit and wondering how your trip went.
  21. Been a customer of ATX since Saber and always renewed early. This year I have not renew and I am getting phone calls (thank god for answering machines) and e-mail telling me about extended discounts. I have not spoken to them about renewal. The last time I spoke with them was to discuss why I was getting charged for e-filing when I did not e-file over 100 returns. Their response was I could take the e-filed charges off me renewal. I am going to wait and see what they are doing.
  22. I asked this before when my information showed up on TaxWise. I thought I was just an ATX customer but I guess we all fall under the umbrella of the parent company. I have not renewed and I will wait to see what happens.
  23. Candy undies??? Undies are taxed in IL? Maybe we shouldn't wear any.... At least clothes are not taxed in NJ, they tax almost everything else including candy.
  24. I am still praying for his health and your strength. Hope he is on the path to better health.
  25. Thanks for the thoughts and help. Just wanted to confirm what I thought.
