  1. It is always interesting what you find on this board. Sometimes it is more than I need to know. I will be rethinking eating sausage, but it is so good on the grill with peppers and onions on a hero roll during the summer.
  2. California sure seems like they have a mess of problems, I thought New Jersey was a little strange. Glad I'm on the east coast (I think).
  3. I rollover when I see the client. Hopefully all the forms are updated at that point in time especially state. I always leave a test or dummy on last years to rollover this way I can see if there is any problems and I can play and test the program and return.
  4. I'm home catching up on misc (nickle and dime) stuff. Trying to enter everybodys check book info for 2008. Tomorrow I will be with my family. Friday it is back to misc stuff. Have a Happy New Year. See you in 2009.
  5. Boy, I am jealous of your heat wave. Here in Jersey (New Jersey). We seem to have it all. Snow last weekend schools were closed on Friday, rain, sleet and hail last night. This morning the temp is rising to 40 so it is raining, raining, and raining. It is a slushy mess outside. Nice time to stay indoors by the fire, cuddle up with a blanket, and sip a cool drink.
  6. Merry Christmas and a healthy, prosperous, New Year. Enjoy whatever you do for the next week, after that it is problems, problems and more problems. Thank you all for being here on this board you have really been a HUGE help to me in my 1 women office.
  7. Bring the mouse in alive and let it run around while you play with it tossing it in the air.
  8. NO. Did not order AllStates TaxExpect disks. Maybe they (CCH) just made a mistake.
  9. Did I miss something?? In today's mail (FedEx) I received a disc and user guide for TRXPROTW (TW TRX Co Brand CD) from Tax Wise CCH. The only correspondence is a 1/2 page that has CCH Small Firm Services Fulfillment Confirmation Slip with customer id and reg code. I did not ask for it, sure hope I am not being billed for it.
  10. I will try that but I think I would like to eat the vegatables. Maybe just saute onions (they make my eyes water) and hopefully will drain the head (isn't much in the head now except mucous). Thanks for the link and your help. Enjoy the holidays and have a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and properious New Year.
  11. This is the only info they had. Maybe I did not make it clear, the banks they were dealing with stated no income would be taxable. The one client's basis is basically the amount of the mortgage. They purchased the house, refi for more and used the money to redo the kitchen. Their original mortgage was interest only, so little was paid on the principal. Yes, this year I did take an update course and this was cover but only after the fact as to where the info went on the return from the 1099 A or C. I wish this head cold would go away. I think I will wait until next week when I can think clearer. I doubt if they will sell before the end of the year.
  12. In the last 2 days 3 of my clients have thought about short sale on their houses. I have read what was previously stated on this board and have tried to do research but it must be this head cold because nothing is making sense. It seems like 1 shoe doesn't fit all. Residential house short sale mortgage 400,000, value now 300,00 if bank accepts sale 275,000 (figures are approximate), then there is no income or capital gains???? Different client - house was their home up to a year ago (moved in with family) when they tried to sell it but the value was below the mortgage. They rented it and now are considering a short sale. Using the same figures as above would they have income? I am pretty sure that I must recap depreciation but anything else. Boy my head is really in a fog. Hoping there is a short and simple explanation but that is not possible with the IRS. I am really looking forward to this tax season and the problems the clients will have and were told it works this way by people who are not tax professionals. Thanks for any input.
  13. The $300 includes a license fee. If you already have one of ATX's program like office 1040 then you don't pay the license fee. This year without the fee is $190. I just finished purchasing it with Office 1040.
  14. Thanks for the link. It was great to remember those cowboys and their shows.
  15. They will never finish 2 beers. I heard this as how many steps to walk across a room, if you walk 1/2 the distance then 1/2 the distance again ( 1/4 of the room). then 1/2 the distance again (1/8 of the room). When will you reach the opposite wall?
  16. I did not get the letter but I have not renewed. I am thinking about renewing it before the end of this month. Would really like to know if anyone else got the same read.
  17. I have had pain on the right side. My doctor said tendinitis and said to take over the counter drugs (tylenol). Saw my Chiropractor and had Graston Therapy. It started to work almost immediately. After 10 sessions I feel 100% better. The therapy was a little painfully but it really worked. Now I get up from the computer about every 2 hours and get a cup of coffee, used the bathroom, take a walk outside, just move around. I will be looking at that link and some of the exercises for the tax season. Some of the exercises I already do.
  18. Got 21 that really surprised me because I would tell my student when they asked how to spell something, "I can't spell that is why I teach math". On my desk is my instant spelling dictionary from college and that pages are really worn. I don't always trust spell check.
  19. Received mine in yesterday's mail.
  20. Sometimes I can get out and other times I am sent to google or page not found. What do I need to do. Hopefully I can get back to this site after I close it out. Thanks
  21. I'm with meme101060. I got 17 and I know I am old, but I still feel like a 20something.
  22. I seem to run in to a lot of Wilson's Laws (#19) recently.
  23. I hoping that none of my clients will lose their homes due to the economy. I hate to see anyone lose their home. I'm in a rural area where there are not many large corporations but this morning I found out that one of the bigger industries will be laying off employees. I'm hoping that other companies will not follow and layoff employees. I have some farmer that I do returns for and they have borrowed money for planting 6-7 months ago thinking that the price of grain will remain high. It hasn't and now when the harvest their crop they will not be getting what they thought they would. Some feel that they will get a lot less and are concerned about repaying their loans. I will be watching for the discussion on this topic and how it might effect my clients. What a great way to start the tax season off.
  24. Received the same phone call except their recording must have been going when my answering machine was stating I was unavailable. Only got the last part to that they won't be available after Fri. Now I know what wont be available after Fri. Thanks.
  25. Had similiar on 2 NJ piggybacked after April 15th. I call ATX and asked them to check. You must give them the SSN. I waited about 2 hours and checked for acks and they were accepted by NJ. Give ATX a call and have them check. Good Luck.
