  1. I am in talks with Leonard who is an Outreach Rep for ATX. He suggest I always use input screen and I set my Windows UAC to off. As for my specs I am running an I7 2.8 ghz with 8gig ram. I tried to open 2 returns at once and crash. It got up to 1.3M memory and crashed due to low resources.
  2. I opened a client just a few minutes ago to see what forms are available. All their federal forms are available so I tried entering some data on the 1065 k1 input screen and the rental property screen. Well the time it took to move from one cell to the next took right at 3 seconds and it took 15 seconds to populate the asset info for a fixed asset. Looks like either I have some issues or ATX did not address any of the performance issues. I would be willing to send the return to someone so they can try inputting some numbers as well. If they are able to move faster than I am then I will at least know its a me problem and not an ATX problem.
  3. Wow very interesting. I just read the case. Guy received a 1099-MISC other income for roughly $3,000,000(fair market value of the comps) over a 3 year period. He reported it as other income but took a gambling loss equal to the gains. IRS challenged and he won in tax court. I have never seen anyone 1099'd for the FMV of their comps I just thought the guy volunteered this info to the IRS.
  4. Right clicking worked.
  5. I will try those today thank you very much for your input
  6. Very interesting. I always cringe before doing it because I never know what the result will be. At least I have learned to save before doing so. Pasting is never an issue just copying.
  7. And if you report those drinks as income you might be the first in the history of US tax code and potentially in line for a holiday named after you
  8. An example is someone has multiple rental properties in same city I will copy and paste city just to speed up a few seconds. I had forgotten about this being an issue until yesterday when I tried to copy a tax ID number, address, etc... from ATX to the payroll
  9. I know that there hasn't been a fix to 2012 for a long time and there wont be one. I am not asking for a work around just asking if others have this problem or if it specific to me. At times I can copy and paste with no problem but other times as soon as I hit Ctrl+C the software locks up and requires a 3 finger salute. Not really a big problem unless I hadn't saved recently. Now for 2013 I am not even sure ATX knows this is a problem in 2012 to correct. If someone(Jack) wants to pass it on that would be great. They are no longer talking to me after I told them their terms of service sucks since they wouldn't help a customer 3 days after their license expired and they were on the fence about renewing.
  10. What sucks most about this is I had a client a few years back that won $250K or at least had that much in W2G's. They had their win loss report from casino showing they lost an amount greater so they had no tax liability. They did have one issue.....increased medicare premiums do to an inflated AGI.
  11. I am sure this isn't the first rodeo for this person. They have probably lost money at some other point in the year but if they had not gambled at other times you are correct they didn't gamble away the amount withheld.
  12. Simple he has 27000 of income and on the sch A you put 27000 of losses. NO ONE THAT GAMBLES WINS!!! I am sure they can come up with the losses.
  13. thanks!
  14. How do you get ATX to pick up the 10% penalty? Do you have to use code 1 instead of L if you know person should be subject to penalty or is there a way to do it and keep the L code? L-is default on loan that is now taxable.
  15. And you cant enlighten us all with the correct fix?
  16. How do people tolerate you? I used ATX last year and got Drake this year as a backup. I was simply asking if making sure the prior year is up to date is still a valid approach.
  17. I am unsure why you even have to do a schedule C. Who are the payments being made to? If not paid to you personally then why even bother with the schedule C. I don't believe the IRS tracks payments for services to EFIN's.
  18. I was told you just need to open 2012 make sure all forms and the program are up to date with latest version then try the rollover again. Is this no longer a valid way to fix this problem if it happens again? Like I have stated before I am attempting to run ATX in hopes it does not come down with issues later but if it does we have Drake running as well.
  19. If you block out the SS # does it really matter if the return is encrypted or not? I am assuming this is an identity theft issue. Most lenders just want the return from client as a starting point and end up requesting an official copy from IRS at a later point to verify data provided by taxpayer matches what was filed.
  20. WOW
  21. Interesting. I will have to study this.
  22. We send them out when requested now. So many clients didnt even open them we decided we were wasting paper and postage. Trying to find a way to put them online so clients can access and complete electronically but havent got that one figured out.
  23. Let me know your thoughts after you do some more research.
  24. He is correct there has to be a breach on either the senders or receivers end
