I believe they will send another email when they are actually ready to process renewals ?

Just to clarify, these steps as I understand them do not disable the Windows Autoupdate. What they do is to allow you to temporarily delay the update until a time convenient to you.
-
If you google "Windows Autoupdate" you will find more than one or two sites that will lead you through the process. It takes a bit more work than just unchecking a box.

For those of you running your network over wifi...

I just checked the news on KRACK attacks on Wi FI transmissions. All operating systems i.e., MacOS, IOS, Windows, Android and Linux are vulnerable. Android and Linux supposedly are the most vulnerable. Google is not going to release the first patches until November 6th. Be safe, minimize your use of Wi Fi in the meantime ! -
The PRO version allows you to turn off auto update. The less costly versions have autoupdate hard coded in.

Win 10's 4th major update is being released on this Tuesday, October 17th. If you are busy and have auto update turned on , be aware !

Another IRS scam announcement: "Tax professionals and their clients should be aware of a fake insurance tax form scam that is being used to access annuity and life insurance accounts. Cybercriminals currently are combining several tactics to create a complex scheme through which both tax professionals and taxpayers have been victimized."

Perhaps the property changed from rental property to investment property in the interim, ultimately changing back to rental property ?

Perhaps some of this equipment hasn' t been actually placed service ? Perhaps some of the equipment has mostly been used on land improvement projects that should be capitalized ?

These problems have been ongoing for 5 or 6 weeks now. I wonder where it ranks on their "to do" list ? "We are still working to resolve the issues with the Community Board. At this time, we do not know how long it will take to correct them. If you need further assistance, please contact our customer support department at 1-800-638-8291. SAN FRANCISCO — Equifax says its systems were not breached and blamed a third party vendor for running malicious code. On Thursday a security analyst reported a link on the Equifax website redirected him to a third-party site that encouraged him to download malware. "The issue involves a third-party vendor that Equifax uses to collect website performance data, and that vendor’s code running on an Equifax website was serving malicious content," Equifax said in a statement. "Since we learned of the issue, the vendor’s code was removed from the web page and we have taken the web page offline to conduct further analysis." Security analyst Randy Abrams said he encountered the malicious link when downloading his credit report. A link on the Equifax site directs users to an announcement that the credit report assistance page is down for maintenance. Shares dropped as much as 3.5% Thursday. "This incident should serve as a warning for any website operator to know and control vendor risk in the digital world – all website code, both first and third party, should be continuously monitored to avoid these scenarios," Chris Olson, CEO of cybersecurity firm The Media Trust said in an emailed statement. Be careful everywhere !

Interesting, there aren't any new updates listed in the download center ?

It's probably the setup for the tax organizer.

When the IRS announced their new "no bid contract" with Equifax, they said it was because Equifax had a "unique set of capabilities." LOL

"The Internal Revenue Service issued a new warning Tuesday to users of its online e-Services cautioning them to beware of a new phishing scam that attempts to trick tax professionals into “signing” a new e-Services user agreement. The phishing scam is actually trying to steal passwords and data, the IRS warned in an email to tax professionals. The IRS has been trying to migrate to new e- Services technology with improved authentication and security abilities, but has faced repeated delays. The IRS said that all tax professionals should be aware that as e-Services begins its move later this month to Secure Access authentication and its two-factor protections, cybercriminals are likely to make last-ditch efforts to steal passwords and data prior to the transition. The scam email claims to come from “e-Services Registration” and says “Important Update about Your e-Services Account” in the subject line. In part, the scam email states, “We are rolling out a new user agreement and all registered users must accept its revised terms to have access to e-Services and its products.” The email asks users to review and accept the agreement but takes them instead to a fake site !" Be careful out there !

Based on a client I had some years ago , the first priority is to deal with the trust fund taxes i.e. employee withholdings. The second priority is the 941 employer taxes. Only then can you possibly work out something on the personal taxes. In the meantime, you have to stay current on all the 941 taxes and the 1040 estimates, it's a tall task. In my clients case , he had to sell the business in order to pay the trust fund taxes. Never paid the 941 employer taxes.

Years ago, I used to buy paper at Costco. It's just not worth it due to jams etc. Especially, since Staples and Office Depot have name brand high quality paper on sale constantly. No more jams or feeding problems

I can see the board with Firefox at work or with my Chromebook at home. Either the board works very sloooowly or if you try to post more than one line your post disappears.

So what, if their POS system with poor security is hacked ? -
Oregon's personal income tax law starts with Federal AGI and then makes additions and subtractions to reach Oregon AGI. Doesn't CA go thru the same calculations ?
-
It's a phishing expedition.

In the last 6 months or so, the POS systems of Whole Foods, Sonic, Wendy's and Chipotle have been hacked. POS systems generally do not have good security. Shopping with cash is looking like the prudent way to go.
