  1. I think there may have been an update this morning to fix this problem.
  2. Excerpted from Bloomberg News: Now, various states are considering circumventing that limit by switching from a state personal income tax to an employer-paid state payroll tax calibrated to produce the same amount of revenue. Employers can deduct payroll taxes fully on their federal return. This would be a tax on Gross Wages paid by the employer. Supposedly New York is leading the way down this road.

Mbamservice.exe Using a lot of CPU First reported in the Malwarebytes forums, numerous people have been complaining today about mbamservice.exe consuming large amount of memory and spiking the CPU at over 90% usage. This has caused some computers to crash or become too unstable to use. 5. Go to the thread pinned at the top of the page, "Resources on new tax law" and read pages 44 - 48 of KPMG's analysis.
  6. Really, you think these temp files related to zip codes are magically appearing out of thin air. Obviously, the ATX program is creating them and then for some reason on certain users computers the program isn't deleting the temp file.
  7. This happened to my wife, when she was Girl Scout Leader, calling mothers for help with the troop. My Wife, " Can you help with . . . . . . . Mother, " Gotta Go, Dog Fight" and she hangs up.
  8. This is ATXKristin's response late yesterday, "It is a corrupted file in a temp file on the user's computer. ATX cannot repair a file that is not part of the program." Classic, "Not my problem" response.
  9. According to ATX, Schedule A will not be available in their software until Friday the 26th.
  10. Yes, you can efile the quarterlys as long as your have an efin and you pay ATX $1.50 per quarterly.
  11. The U S Treasury announced that 56 % of IRS employees have been furloughed. So the chance of an IRS employee answering the phone is about zero.
  12. I have been efiling Form 94x with ATX since January 8th with no problems.
  13. All of this socalled documentation does nothing more than provide circumstantial evidence. None of it actually provides direct proof !
  14. As far the depreciation goes, I would file a 3115 to remove the depreciation expense and any related expenses from the from the corporation. instead of amending all of those years. As far as the purchase price of the jeep, I would record it as a stockholder receivable, then clear that out with a 2017 dividend. This would resolve most of the issues with the least amount of work.
  15. When I was reading the bill I noticed several interested clauses: 1. If your W-2/W3s are not timely filed, the deduction will be disallowed. 2. If you have a "Qualified Business Loss", the QBL will be carried forward and will reduce any future QBI. Fun Times

  17. Sharon, I have been preparing and printing W-2s and 1099s all week. Make sure you have the most recent version 2017.1.7 downloaded and installed. If you do, you must have some corrupted files and then you will need to call support.
  18. Also, whether Mortgage Insurance Premiums will continue to be deductible ?
  19. Since the IRS has 11,000 fewer employees than 5 years ago, I suspect that you are correct.
  20. Supposedly the SSA started accepting W-2s on December 27th. ATXKristin has been posting that the IRS Fire system will start accepting 1099s on January 16th.
  21. The simple solution is for each stylist to get a Square account.
  22. I was curious, so I checked online. This is what is called an "adware" program which collects info from your computer then forwards it to a website where the information is used to target your computer with lots of spam and unwanted ads. Supposedly this program has been around a number of years. I have ended with several of these on my computer in past years. While they can be very annoying they are not as dangerous as a virus or a trojan.
  23. Other interesting items that were repealed: 1. Transportation Fringe Benefit Deductions 2. Deduction of Gift Cards etc for Safety Awards etc 3. Deduction of Meals at the convenience of the Employer 4. Charitable Contributions to College Athletic Funds which are seat licenses.
  24. Yes, I saw that when I read the actual law, it's totally closed down the expense of any recreation related expenses. There are also some other more nuanced changes that will restrict M & E deductions.
