Hey I'm new here,
So about 2 months I started working at a CPA firm as a supervised preparer. So I applied for my PTIN a little after I had started working. After putting in my address and my supervisor's PTIN the system still had an error and I had to mail in a paper form. Fine. So when I was mailing it in I noticed that the H&R Block employee had entered in my house number as 1548 instead of 1546 so I thought this might be the problem. It has been 6 weeks since I sent in my paper form so I called the PTIN line and they said it's taking longer than usual to process my application because they were verifying my background information or something. And I asked them like what and the lady told me that she does not have access to that information. So I'm wondering if the fact that on my 2011 return I forgot to include two 1099 that totaled about $370 dollars because it was sent to a different address that I lived at during the year. However, I filed an amended return and paid the $38 that was due on it (check cashed too). This wouldn't make me fail the tax compliance check would it? And as a reminder, I filed a 1040EZ for the 2011 tax year because I was a dependent on my parents (which is why an H&R Block employee did my tax return and not me).
I really hope that small mistake of accidently not reporting 1099 would reject me from getting a PTIN especially since the CP-2000 matching notices for 2011 returns should be coming out in 2013.
