Starting tax year 2016, they will be the documentation required. It was supposed to be tax year 2015, but as usual, the IRS caved on the deadlines. I would say that the number of 1095 forms with mistakes is not a higher percentage than W-2s or 1099s with mistakes. These are the consequences of the ACA that no one would listen to those of us crying out about it in 2008. Income opportunity. I feel privileged that our Congress chose me to be the enforcer of their ill-constructed and worthless insurance laws. I should get myself a badge...

The forms 1095-A & 1095-B are the gospel documents for the taxpayer having coverage. The taxpayer may not have received all the forms yet. If he states that he had coverage all year, I would do like RitaB said. The IRS will not be doing any verification. They have put out information that if you receive a 1095 after the return is complete, and the return is not accurate, no steps need to be taken.

We must keep Eric happy. This is too valuable a resource to lose!!! Let's make sure that he gets enough donations to take care of the site in the most excellent way AND even take his family out for a nice dinner!! I think the dinner is a very fitting thing for him to spend some of our donations on. I/we certainly appreciate him that much!!!

So $79 covers your cost for the second return and all the research involved? Still not getting it...

For what reason would they want to file separately? Am I missing something?

I applied as well. Much easier than logging into E-Services.

I consider the student a non-resident. His domicile is his parent's home. Agree with Margaret, no need to file the local return. Most likely the employer that withheld tax is in the city limits of Lima and must withhold for all employees. For the record, effective 1-1-16, any amount due an Ohio city or any refund that is less than $10, will not be owed or refunded.

Estate Income - Estate Closed 4 Years Ago

Tell him to put it in the file with the Estate return and have a good night's sleep. -
I would not keep a dog with such personality and attitudes. PERIOD.

Someone read your post about your son doing the laundry....

Consecutive is not part of the equation. Unless he can go to the Marketplace and qualify for an exemption, he is subject to penalty.

SEHI deduction for partner, premiums paid personally
Jack from Ohio replied to jklcpa's topic in General Chat
This subject has been covered at length in training and seminars I have been attending since May of 2015. This is NOT new information. These rules were supposed to be in effect Jan. 1, 2014. The IRS had pity on all the corporate bookkeepers that were not up on the current law and extended the provisions till June 30, 2015. The information has been THOROUGHLY taught and promoted for almost 2 years now. Am I the only one that has been paying attention?? -

The more important question is, is she adopting? (raises his hand and waves it wildly...) I do not know if there is a timeframe or not. I would refrain from claiming it until it WAS used for improvements. Lots of things can happen.

WHERE DO THEY GET THESE SUPPORT TECHS?!
Jack from Ohio replied to Abby Normal's topic in General Chat
I have that one beat, but chose not to post it. There are eyes everywhere!! -
My chosen profession dictates that I must stay current with technology. There are dozens of other professions that do not. I choose to stay current. "Elderly" is not what makes "technology more difficult." Attitudes make staying current difficult. For the record, I am almost 60 years old, and amongst my generation and my peers I am one of only about 5% that have bothered to stay current. I taught an 81 year old lady with ZERO computer experience how to use a computer. In the process of a year afterward, she e-published 3 books and had her own website. Your objection due to being "elderly" is without basis.

Most Americans are mono-tasking mono-thinking. I have observed a huge slide into the "don't make me think about anything, just tell me or give it to me" mindset. I defy anyone to present evidence to the contrary.

Duplex printing if you must use paper. For most of my clients, a 200 page client copy doesn't make their flash drive any larger... After all, it is 2016. 16 years into the 21st Century...

I tell all my clients that the calculations on the W-4 form are just to use up more ink when they are printed. I use a real world approach to recommend what they should put on the W-4. Too many variables to think that the W-4 would "automatically balance out at the end of the year."

Convert from S Corp To LLC in Colorado
Jack from Ohio replied to capital80014's topic in General Chat
Was the S-Corp originally a C-Corp that elected S-Corp status? Was the S-Corp originally an LLC that elected S-Corp status? If he has employees, even if he becomes a sole proprietor, he will still need Payroll. Too much missing information for us to give you any correct advice. Do YOU understand the difference between an LLC, a sole proprietorship, a C-Corp or a Partnership? This is a very basic corporate question.
