I think a new client wants their stuff back, what would you do

DISAGREE! Ethics and morals do NOT change with time. In my opinion, adopting this philosophies of "...everybody else is doing it, so it must be ok..." "...do whatever you need to do to make the extra dollar..." are a major reason for the decline of respect, morals, ethics and self-reliance in our society to the point that those traits are rapidly becoming extinct. -
Input the information from the 1095-A as you received it. If the client says the numbers are incorrect, THEY must go back to the Marketplace to get a corrected 1095. Any state requirements are handled when the client applies on the marketplace. If the client input improper information, that is NOT your issue. We are tax accountants, not insurance agents or enforcers of insurance laws.

They have already proven they are not honest. Good Riddance is the correct response. Like trying to juggle cactus leaves. -

it is not an efile problem. It is an IRS database issue. I will be seriously interested if you get any help, satisfaction or the problem remedied with your phone call. I stopped trying to fix these after my 3rd totally failed attempt. You can't get them to fix the dinosaur computer issue inside their system. Good Luck. -

Make sure the papers are in the same disarray as when you received them. I totally agree with your course of action. Tell them you do NOT want your name mentioned in any manner regarding their income tax returns. You do NOT need fraudsters like them. -
rejected by processing center, but no rejection status

Agree. You may have to wait as much as 20 minutes though, depending on how busy the website is. If that does not work, from the Return Manager, click on Support, then choose Customer Service Utilities, then choose Synchronize e-files with EFC. This process will make sure all your e-file statuses match what is in their system. If these two steps do not correct the problem, then contact support. I prefer to take all possible steps to eliminate the need to call them. -
Male Bovine Scat is the better term. You do not need clients like that. Consider: "What other things is she not telling me..." I have no need for clients of that mindset either. When the IRS changed and started enforcing Circular 230, and now my neck is on the line, those kind can seek a less informed victim to do their unethical transactions.

Efie Acknowledgement-IRS says return not filed

This is not a FAFSA problem. It is a college rules/IRS database problem. When colleges started demanding either transcripts or FAFSA with imported IRS information, this nightmare scenario was put into play. Blame the small percentage (well maybe not small) that would give the college a different tax return than what was actually filed. I do not know of any way to resolve this problem with the IRS. Also, I am certain that the college financial aid department does not have anyone that actually understands what the issue is. "We must have the IRS information imported to the FASFA" is all they are taught and even then, they have no clue as to what or why they say that. Rant over!! -
I avoid ALL overrides. Overrides can interfere with proper submission of data.

I have no need for clients that come to me because I am the cheapest. I do NOT give price quotes over the phone and, like Lion, "...I'd be glad to quote them a price after they drop off last year's return for me to look at. Hardly anyone does that..." I have one complete file drawer full of "came to me because I was cheaper" clients and they all left the next year. I am a qualified, trained and certified professional. I do NOT consider it a "constitutional right" for tax preparation to be cheap and easy. Think Doctor, Lawyer, Plumber, Electrician, Auto Technician... I am JUST as much a professional and do not need to discount my work.

What does Part III of Form 1095-C show? If it does not show coverage for all 12 months, then you must seek verification that the client did/did not have coverage for the remaining months. Part II of the form only shows what was offered. Part II has no meaning when deciding if the client had coverage. Part III does, but not on all 1095-C forms issued by employers. 1095-B is the go-to form to verify coverage. Next year, it and 1095-A will be the only forms of verification accepted by the IRS to prove coverage.

These situations are why we get paid. Software is a TOOL, not a tax preparer.

Efile is only available for 3 years. 2015, 2014 & 2013. (notice the lack of the Oxford comma) Most states do not accept any e-files except the current.

800-829-1040 and have her knitting ready while she is on hold. There is no way to get it "fixed." Print out the 9325 for that return and let her give it to the college. -
That is the smartest choice you can make!!

Efile Reject: Phone number does not have enough digits. Really?
Jack from Ohio replied to Richcpaman's topic in General Chat
There are several forms and some State returns that require phone numbers. Nothing new here... -
Yes. But this is an entirely different, not related, scenario.

Efile Reject: Phone number does not have enough digits. Really?
Jack from Ohio replied to Richcpaman's topic in General Chat
That is not true! Most of the input screen and worksheet data is NOT transmitted to the IRS. If the field requires a phone number and it only has 9 digits, the rejection is revealing an input error that needs to be corrected. Phone numbers are 10 digits. If, in the client data screen, a phone number only has 9 digits, it is incorrect. Nothing to see here. Move ahead. Input errors are common human actions. -
Efile Reject: Phone number does not have enough digits. Really?
Jack from Ohio replied to Richcpaman's topic in General Chat
If the form requires a phone number, the system will look for 10 digits. Plain and simple. If it is not 10 digits, it is not a complete phone number. Nothing to see here. Move along. -
