  1. No exclusion. It became a second home (vacation home) when he made the house in VA his primary residence.
  2. Mark that the child was in the home for 12 months. Then check the box for "eligible for child tax credit" and "eligible for EiC. I use ATX and that works fine.
  3. Agree with Gail. In years past, we called it "Land Bank payments." The government has come up with some pretty creative names for it these days.
  4. What if you tell it to delete the PRS? I never use the RITA form. I use the generic city for all cities.
  5. We have e-filed over 1,800 so far with no sign of such a reject as described. We use ATX.
  6. The six digit IPIN goes on the filer info tab on Form 1040. This client has had Identity issues in the past. The five digit number you are referring to is the number on the 1040 efile tab. This 5 digit number can be any 5 digits you wish it to be. Two totally different things.
  7. You did right. You can lead a horse to water....
  8. You might try scanning them with more file compression. No matter what the size of the file, when you go to attach it, it will give you the warning that the file is too big. I just ignore the warning and the files go through.
  9. Open the return. Under e-file click on reject history. You can see it/them there.
  10. Look up the status on MyATX. It will give you the exact status. If there is an issue, then a call to tech support.
  11. Just be sure to click on the save icon every 5-10 minutes. I spoke before about ATX Autosave function no working and was made fun of. Autosave has not worked since 2012. If you are not clicking the save icon every 5-10 minutes, and the program crashes as described in the above posts, be ready to cry and re-input information. ATX is NOT seeking any answers to this issue. I guess this is my "I told you so" post.
  12. Now everyone should listen to me about autosave not working....
  13. Are you calling us "old farts?"
  14. I still have a working Commodore 64 computer with TWO disk drives. LOAD *.*,8,1
  15. I have the drives, but modern motherboards do not include a serial plug on them. I even have 5" disks and drives. Same issue. No place to plug them in on new motherboards.
  16. I still have a sealed package of 3 1/2 disks of DOS 6.22.
  17. You cannot alter the form. That ability went away with 2012. Write up a Word document, save it as a .pdf, then attach it to the e-file.
  18. OK, maybe I stretched the definition....
  19. E-filing the 2848 will not get it into the system. Fax it, is the only fast way.
  20. Not for over 2 years now. IRS shut it down because "not enough people were using it to justify the cost."
  21. It makes no difference. $0 tax both years whether I amend 2015 or leave it all on 2016. It is affecting the ACA and them having to pay back subsidy for 2016.
  22. Client received full SS benefit payments for 2016. He also receive ~$9k payment for 2015. They have only about $2K of other income, so for 2016 they are in the zero tax bracket. Here is my question... They had Insurance through the Marketplace and due to the $9K they are required to pay back about 1/2 of the subsidy. Instead of using the lump-sum worksheet, can I just claim the SS amount for 2016 and amend 2015 to add the amount they received for 2015? This would lower their MAGI to the point they would receive a small refund instead of paying back hundreds. The 2015 return would not change due to very low income. Is there a requirement for using the worksheet instead of amending? Anyone with experience with this situation: Married Couple filing joint Total SS received in 2016 $35,819 Amount received for 2015 $8,872 1099R received for $2,003 No other income for 2016.
  23. I will sleep better tonight knowing this information...
