At my daytime job, we have 3,000 clients and would LOVE a way to have send birthday cards to everyone. A way to pull dates out would be HUGE!

TRX is worrying the daylights out of me!

DITTO!! -
I don't want to make an issue of this, but the welshing on the bet by that "very sure of himself" salesman I talked to in May is still evading my taste buds. (I love a good steak!!) But for all you naysayers... I TOLD YOU SO!

Is the $6,000 monthly considered alimony? If so, claiming it as such will accomplish the same tax effect as it being sent directly to her by the trustee of the pension.

I gave the subject and the entire e-mail just enough attention to delete it. SPAM = "Unsolicited" offers.

Click on the field. Push Delete tab to the next field. Allow override. Done.

I have a son that makes websites completely customized to your need. Send me a contact through here or an e-mail and I will connect you to him.

For the next several years, all our country's woes will be blamed on the actions of the President from the years 2000-2008. No problems before that period, or after. It was the total focus of the 2008 campaign. Just my observed and not so humble opinion.

Seems pretty clear to me.

The only people who truly benefit from this kind of seminar, are the people selling and putting on the seminar. Tell her to save her money. There are study materials for the Civil Service exam at the local library. If she just graduated college, she doesn't need to pay anyone to show her how to study a book. Heard some survey results about these kind of seminars. The percentage of people who take the courses and get hired, is almost identical to the percentage of people who don't take the course and get hired.

First Time Homebuyers Credit Question
Jack from Ohio replied to Jack from Ohio's topic in General Chat
Thanks TAXBILLY! I gotta remember to scroll ALL the way down!! :read: -
Client is signing a land contract in a few days. He meets all the requirements for FTHB credit. The only hitch may be (hence the post here) is that he is buying the home from his Step-Mother. The client's father is not owner of the house in question. Does Step-Mother qualify as a close family member? My gut tells me yes, but I am tapping the huge knowledge resource of everyone here. I have done some looking but can't find any specific information about step being considered close family. Any cites to clairfy would be greatly appreciated as I want to be on solid ground when I answer the client's question.

ATX is the name of the software, NOT the company selling it. ATX is GOOD software. CCH (the company who owns and sells ATX software) are a bunch of mindless, customer disdaining bubble headed executives who only have personal profits in mind, and do NOT understand customer service! I am waiting for the second "extension of the early purchase 10% discount" that should start circulating in about 2 weeks or so.
-
Let's play what if... If the house qualifies, How much FTHC is he expecting? The FTHC is only 10% of the purchase price with a max of $8,000. How much will a 4 year old (assuming it was new in 2005) doublewide (foundation or not) sell for? It seems to me that if 10% of the sale price is prohibiting the sale, maybe he should recheck his ability to take on the responsibility of the loan? Just some questions that came to mind from a dad with 3 kids in their early 20's trying to make the same kind of decisions.
-
Actually, the only thing that is ATX now, is the software. When the company was ATX, they did plan and care. Fact is... CCH owns the ATX software now, and they don't plan more than a week or two in advance. It is absolutely apparent by their continued actions, that CCH DOES NOT CARE about it's customers. Rant over!!

Unfortunately, the freedoms in our country allow the freedom to be and act stupid! I think all cell phone use of any kind by the driver of a vehicle should be banned. Just call me "Been almost hit by idiots with their ear and brain in their cell phone at least a dozen times."
-
I'll bet you the same steak dinner the saleman renegged on that the discount offer will show up again. Any takers?
-
Ditto!! Makes me want to quit, but instead, I sent e-mail to my Congressman and my Senators. Made phone calls and wrote handwritten letters as well.

Where is it written that anyone in this country has a RIGHT to health care or health insurance? "...Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." :scratch_head:

There is no "proper" response here!! I would be totally lost without all the experienced and knowledgable opinions and information posted on this forum! Many times, a situation I face has already been discussed, so there is no need to post again!! Thanks to ALL who post and add their experience and knowledge!

Should we feel used??

I would NOT recommend allowing the audit to happen at your client's office. Call the auditor and tell him/her that you will represent your client, and the audit will be at the auditor's office. A neutral venue is the best. Do NOT take the client! Don't be nervous either. Most of the things the second letter ask for are routine, and may not even be discussed at the audit. Do not offer information unless the auditor asks. I just finished an audit for one of my clients on July 15. If you wish, send me an e-mail, and I will gladly chat with you on the phone about the process etc. There is no need to be nervous if your client has documentation, and you have done your normal due dilligence. My audit found a simple math mistake by the client, and the result will be an additional tax of $200 or so. He had a trucking business with nearly $1Million of income. Just relax and continue your same professional methods of doing things. Again, I will be glad to share my experience and information. Just contact me.

The discount is not the relevant issue. The fact that CCH knowingly had their sales staff state: "This offer will NOT be extended under any circumstances" to entice renewals, then offered the same discount in July, is the issue. The same words were spoken to me last year. I was led to believe that by renewing early, I was getting a special discount. HA HA HA HA History is repeating itself, and the (what I consider) unethical business practices of CCH since the first day they acquired ATX is my point. The software is definitely up to the task. If you don't believe it, open up the 2003 program and try doing a return for a client. CCH (in my not so humble opinion) is not interested in customer service, customer loyalty or company integrity. Time will bear out my observations even more as this tax season gets underway. I am still keeping my parachute packed!!
