  1. Sign at a taxadermy shop... The Buck Stops Here!
  2. There is a certain irony in this reply....
  3. 2009 tax season I/we purchased from TRX. We received the product and all support directly from CCH. I/we have been offered the "return to the fold" discount. No mention of anyone other than CCH being the company I/we will deal with. As I have stated before, the ability of CCH to properly communicate with their sales and support staff is severly lacking. The result... Salespeople with many different sets of numbers and policies. Again, I love the ATX software. CCH ranks just above a yellow jacket sting in my list of likes.
  4. I have NO faith in what salespeople tell me. I am still waiting on the steak dinner owed by the salesman last year that assured me that "...the 10% early renewall discount will absolutely NOT be extended past May." We all know that it was extended to anyone who asked right up to tax season. 1-800-495-4626 X 5025. Gill will take care of any returning folks from TRX. ( I have first person proof) I have the same exact deal as Wendy, including the Assett Manager that I complained loudly about. For those that are hearing "No one is receiving more than 10% discount," just remember who they are working for. (no credibility) Ask them to e-mail me, and I will give them an epiphany! Here is a line... "Would your company rather have $800+ of my money, or $0 if I choose the TRX alternative already offered to me?" Another idea... Ask them if they ever shop at more than one supplier for anything they buy? Car, appliance, tax preparer, insurance, etc. I love the software, but I have great disdain (now there is a classy sounding word) for CCH management be it upper, middle or lower. The salespeople are only telling the bovine scat that management is feeding them. Were it not for 7 years of using the program and loving the way it works, I would have flushed CCH the day after they acquired ATX and fired all the competent staff. All of the above goes for my personal business, as well as the 3,000 client firm I work for full time. In My Not So Humble Opinion!!
  5. I would say that THAT idea became a quickly growing urban myth. Just like Bill Gates and AOL sending you thousands for forwarding e-mails....
  6. We have a network with 10 workstations. I am in charge of the e-filing of all returns. I have done sending, correcting, retrieving acks from all the workstations as well as the main server. The only difference is the speed at which the program handles the task. It works faster on the server (pretty obvious) but I have had NO issues with e-filing from multiple computers on my network. Anyone who is having issues with ATX on a server based network may feel free to contact me through here. I have been maintaining this network with ATX since Feb 2004. I have probably experienced and worked through every possible network problem there is. This year... NO NETWORK PROBLEMS AT ALL!! There were some issues with acks from CCH, but NONE with my network. This year we have transmitted 5,349 e-file files. Approx 2,675 returns so far and a few hundred left with extensions. Let me know if I can help.
  7. I just spent 2 hours on the phone (30 min. on hold, the rest dealing with my problem) and after sifting upwards through 2 levels of tech support who only had one "canned" answer, I was connected to a brilliant tech named Brannon Edwards. He is by far the most knowledgeable tech support person I have spoken to since William from the old ATX company. He took the problem on, found a way to correct it without me Re-synchronizing all 5,300+ e-file files and even cleared up some old nagging problems with acknowledgments. If you have technical issues with the program, Brannon is THE MAN!! I am sending a note commending him to the people at CCH. Brannon has restored my faith in their tech department.
  8. Just curious. Last year by this time, we were getting early renewal discount offers??
  9. I have not received any Acks since Wednesday April 21. Is anyone else having this problem? Calling Tech Support has been an effort in futility as I am not willing to wait on hold for 90 minutes at this time of year...
  10. A very good object lesson for electronic filing.
  11. My last 91 just went through. Total files submitted so far this tax year... 4,855. & 1,212 more left to go!
  12. I wonder if the IRS will grant the same grace to CCH as it did to Intuit last year?
  13. It appears that the server is down. I wonder if the IRS will grant the same grace to CCH as it did to Intuit last year?
  14. The regulations refer to "principle residence" not "house" "Home" "Trailer" "Tent" or any other term. The trailer WAS their PRINCIPAL RESIDENCE and they OWNED it. If they meet the 5 out of 8, then they could qualify for the long time credit. Realtors are spreading this lie to make sales.
  15. Moral of the story... Tax Software DOES NOT EQUAL tax knowledge!
  16. Sounds like an opportunity to do a lot of 1099s for a lot of people!! Capitalism at its finest! We charge a reasonable fee $5/1099, every client needs 25-30 or more, ATX keeps a list of providers, seems like a new revenue stream...
  17. Need some advice about a situation. Long time personal client. Owns a farm. She lives in the house and land rents the acreage to a local farmer. She also has another home that she rents out at a very reasonable rent. She is showing numbers that in my gut I just know are not accurate. Yet when asked, (very carefully and politely) about how these numbers could be, she swears by everything holy that the numbers are accurate and she has the documentation. Given the current climate of increased preparer scrutiny, does anyone have an example of a staement or disclaimer that I can get her to sign that says she delcares that all the information she is providing me is accurate and backed up by documentation? I wish not to lose this client, but at the same time I am not willing to put my practice in jeapordy so she can "shield" income from taxation and I don't have the time nor inclination to make her bring all documentation to me. Any suggestions or ideas?
  18. If there is no court order, any monies given by one to the other are strictly gifts. The terms "spousal support" and "alimony" are interchangeable. These only come into play due to a court order. I have first hand knowledge of this.
  19. Spousal Support = Alimony

I posted this for the benefit of all the experienced preparers here that need this training!!
  21. I want to know just exactly who will be willing to do the above stated amending? If you think OUR Congress as it now exists will even think about changing this monstrosity, I wonder what planet have you been living on? Just My Not So Humble Opinion
  22. I have two different clients with two different family doctors that are taking steps to get out of medicine now that the bill has passed. When there are not enough providers of a service, and the demand continues to increase, then someone decides who gets the treatment and who does not. Find and talk to anyone that lives in Canada. Ask them about their personal experiences with health care. From a personal friend in Montreal.... 6 week wait for a regular female exam and pap smear. Found an irregularity.... 6 more weeks wait for an appointment with the specialist. 2 weeks to get the necessary CAT scan to locate the problem 2 more weeks to get a follow up visit with specialist. Fortunately, the medications she finally received took care of the problem. EVERYONE in the US has access to necessary health care. I DO NOT WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO RUN MY HEALTHCARE. IT WILL BE RUN IN THE SAME MANNER IT RUNS ALL OTHER FISCAL PROGRAMS. Please give me one single solitary piece of evidence that this program will be run properly and correctly?? Please give me one single solitary example of any fiscal program run by the government that is run properly, correctly and has not had cost overruns in the multiples. Just my rant! One FRUSTRATED angry AMERICAN with a large carbon footprint that is campaigning hard to get everyone to the polls this year!!
  23. Federal 8879 covers Ohio. Non-resident Ohio returns CAN be e-filed.
  24. His sweat equity is the reason he has so much income to pay taxes on. Isn't that the reason to "do it yourself?"
  25. Fill in the taxpayer birthdate and make sure it is accurate. A dependent now must be younger than the taxpayer (unless disabled) and the program checks it.
