I have asked what day this week is good for your tax prep appointment... I remain persistent on that being the only purpose for their call.

The "Do not call registry" is a toothless, worthless, paper tiger with no enforcement capability whatsoever.

I don't want a workaround. All the complaints here, also have a workaround. If ATX only made changes for things without a workaround, there would never be any changes. Workarounds take up time I could be using in profitable ways. Let us know how your campaign works out. Took over 10 years to get them to show e-file status on the return manager page. There was always a workaround that was clumsy and time consuming.
-
It will never happen. Many of us have been asking for templates since 2006. Large numbers of us continue to ask. Here is ATX's official response: "We cannot expend resources to provide a feature for such a small subset of our clients." This was face to face with the President of the ATX division. I don't know who the major subset of clients are, but they are driving the ship.

I simply don't use any of the letters. 95% of people don't read letters anyway.

Don't spend the money yet. Be sure to include it in your will. It will be at least that long before a solid final decision is reached. You know how good the IRS is at delaying things.

I have a new answer to give clients when the price of their return goes up..... Dear Jack, Thank you for being a valued accountant partner. To support you in your work, I am reaching out to provide you with advance notification of two upcoming price changes that may affect you or your clients. 1. QuickBooks Online Plus 2. QuickBooks Desktop Payroll These price changes will enable us to invest in the further development of QuickBooks to meet the needs of accounting professionals and the business clients you serve.

Tell him something to the effect that you are a professional being held to standards by the IRS and your years of training and experience well justify the price of his return. If he continues to complain, strip out all his original documents, hand them to him and tell him the location of the nearest H&R office. Wish him a good day. You are NOT overcharging him.

Has anyone had success with e-services obtaining transcripts for clients? I know that form 2848 must be on file, but I have not needed to obtain a transcript for quite a while. I have heard so many different answers to my question, I thought I would go the the Think Tank Brain Trust of the internet and get some honest and accurate answers.

I have been by her office. I know EXACTLY where it is. Maybe we could arrange a group surprise...

Try going to Control Panel, add/remove programs and see if it is there to remove.

The vulnerability that the ransom-ware exploited was for Windows XP. Anyone still running XP is 75% responsible if they get hit. The ransom-ware is initiated by clicking on a phishing e-mail. Anyone who does that in addition to running XP becomes 100% responsible for the damage. Buy a new machine with WIN 7 PRO. Learn how not to gullible about e-mail. I am as busy on the internet as anyone, manage over 15 separate e-mail accounts, and in 15 years I have not fallen prey to any phishing e-mails, nor contracted any viruses.

DITTO!! Nothing is as dependable or as fast as a GIGABIT wired network. Wireless is only for guests and only has access to the internet.

Discussion about the current legislation concerning health insurance is just like watching the old show "Time Tunnel." A total waste of time and effort until the laws are passed. Americans will find every way to "game" or "work around" whatever laws cause them to pay anything. Anyone who does not believe this is a few fries short of a happy meal.
-
Neither do the people who work the system.

Where is this thread headed to?

More conjecture I have no time for. I am making plans to spend time with my Grandson. Now THIS is important!!
-
Tell me how to separate tax LAW being changed can be separated form Politics? Has everyone become the ultra-sensitive snowflake? Politicians are the ones to make the tax law changes.
-
I will just wait till the laws are passed. I have more important things to spend my time on.
