  4. I have a reservation at Motel 6 in Knoxville TN for Sunday night Aug 20, 2017. 1 room, two full size beds. Total cost to the Motel of $64. Knoxville is only 6 miles from the total eclipse path. Easy to find a place to see the total eclipse. I will not be able to go. For a small fee of $20, I will change the reservation to your name. You will be responsible for paying the Motel costs. I am seeing rooms go for $500 for Sunday night. My bad luck can be your good luck for only $20. PM me for more details. This is for real and not a scam. I am a total science nerd/geek and am devastated that I cannot go myself. If no one takes the offer by 4:00 PM on Sunday, I will simply cancel the reservation.

  9. One out of 7 people that receive these calls send money. It is a very lucrative hobby, so a couple of hours a day is all they need.

  11. I will be in TN (Lenoir City to be exact) to video and watch the eclipse. I have NASA approved viewing glasses and filters for my cameras. Any electric welding helmet will be safe. Otherwise, do your homework on any other things you use for viewing.
  12. If you delete client files.... DANGER DANGER DANGER WILL ROBINSON!! A paper copy will have no functionality if you need to investigate/check/change the return. Our ATX program uses 50GB of HD space for each year. It will NOT ever be streamlined. Deleting client files is setting yourself up for huge problems. We added a second server with 6TB of C: drive space for ATX. At 50GB each year, we have 30 years of storage capacity. Bite the bullet, finish stepping into the 21st century and buy hardware to suit the software you are using.
  13. A big problem with ATX tech support is as follows: Those of us who have the high priced high end packages do not get any preference for tech support. Their tech support people will spend an as much time is needed with a client that uses PPR and does 5-6 returns a year as they will with those of use paying the high price for the larger practices. This clogs the tech support system to the max and has been a source of complaint for several years. If I spend $1,200 + extra fees and the other fellow spends $100, how should he rate the same amount and support as I do? Majority of tech support time is spent with the 25 returns or less users. Another example of how ATX has no clue what its customer base truly needs, nor how to properly configure their customer service department.

  20. You will need information from the W2-G in order to e-file. No shortcuts will work. Also, I don't think CA allows any gambling loss deductions from the winnings.

  23. I use Square. No issues. Money is in my account in less than 48 hours every time. Here is the typical scenario... Client: "Oh I forgot to bring my checkbook. can I stop by later, pay you and pick up my papers?" Me: "Do you have your debit card?" (Everyone carries a debit or credit card) Client: "Oh, yes I do. Can you use it for my bill?" Me. I raised my fees by more than 20% the year I started taking credit cards. Problem solved.
  24. Double your price. Lose half your clients. Earn the same amount of money doing half as much work.
