I have a "retread" client couple (I prepared returns for them for 8 years. I did their 2016 return) that chose in 2015 to allow her daughter to do their return. They received a notice from the School District Tax department. They called asking for my help with 2015. I suggested that they go back to the person that prepared the return. (I can fix the problem with a simple letter) I told them I could help them fix the problem, but there would be a charge for my work. I have not heard a word from them since. The daughter has no clue how to fix it. Seems that the Struggle Bus has more passengers.

I have come to the point where I DESPISE paying higher taxes to cover those that get away with stealing from employees, spending foolishly and driving a business into the ground, while I stay on the proper side of the ethics fence and follow the rules. I do without a lot of "things" I would like to have in order to adhere to the tax laws and rules for my business and personal life. I have many time considered jumping to the other side of the ethics fence and living the good life...

And a lot more to charge them!!

The withholding and employer match money is NOT HIS MONEY! If he does not pay it, he is stealing from the employees. I have no tolerance for business owners that steal from their employees. He does NOT DESERVE consideration for an OIC.

Since CCH shut down the board with one week to go in the season, I have not even logged in and have no intention of doing so. CCH has owned ATX for 10 years now and still has no clue about customer service, nor software design.

Wait and do nothing until (if/when) you receive something from the IRS. I was of the mind, that unless it made more than $100 difference in tax, the IRS will not pursue it.

Is there anyone in our group located in Nevada? I have questions about a newly created SMLLC. Is there state tax liability? Are there annual State filing requirements? What are the requirements concerning business licenses? Any help from a NV preparer would be extremely helpful.

Ask him to provide copies of the front and back of all payments (including estimates) that he made for tax year 2016. My gut tells me he is leaving out very relevant facts.
