  1. Is everything labeled TRX or ATX? Any differences that you can tell? My Fedex truck usually comes in the afternoon so maybe I will get mine, too!
  2. Jack from Ohio, you said it all. I am reprinting this beautiful message to offer as a blessing Thursday. One additional item to add is, of course, the blessing of this board and the 1000 colleagues here so willing to share time and knowledge unselfishly. Thanks to all and have a wonderful day of giving thanks.
  3. :bday: and many more!
  4. In Large Text it does go to another line with 800x600. In ATX Community and Clean Cut, it does not. In Clean Cut that row is wider, though and the titles are staggered. I have been switching between the regular and Clean Cut trying to decide.
  5. Eric, you are so sweet to tweak! It still is my issue, though, and with no one else expressing an opinion on this, it is just the way it is. When I open the screen (to General Chat), of the 10.5 horizontal inches available, 2 are the blue bar with IE, the url box, the File, Edit, etc. list and the tabs. The next 8.5 inches are the web site header and the pinned topics. So I always have to scroll down to see even the first topic. I can live with this, though, and really appreciate all you have done and are doing for the 999 others. You have been gracious enough to offer a couple of solutions which, for me, were not viable although genuinely appreciated. Thanks again and have a most blessed Thanksgiving; you are a blessing to all here, for certain!
  6. Eric, congratulations go to you for providing this obviously valuable and appreciated space for 1000!!! professionals to exchange information. I do need to defer congrats to me, I am only in the mid-600's, and refer you to Catherine who well deserves your wishes.

  8. Woo Hoo! Congratulations, Catherine! Now get better soon so that you can enjoy your exalted position properly! And thanks for all the sage advice and counsel within those 1000 posts. You help us all by sharing your knowledge.

  11. Well, you are the best! I found the answer under Tools. Just unclick the Full Screen option. It didn't register earlier that the Tools icon in the Tabs bar was the same Tools menu in the File Edit, View, etc. bar. But now all is back to my comfort zone, arrows, menu bar, tabs. And I've learned even more about computer capabilities and options. Too much for me! And I think I will, for now, let my function keys rest. Thanks again!
  12. Okay, now I've gone and done it and can't get back. I tried Firefox with the same results with F11. Then I tried the other option, View something or other. And now I can't get the tool bars back or, my choice, the arrows and tabs to stick. The arrows and tabs return if I use the mouse but don't stay so I can't easily get to other sites like My Favorites. I can't get back to the View something or other either. I still use IE7 per my computer guys recommendation. I didn't see any advantages for me to stay with IE8 but then I am not the techie user so many others on this forum are! Anyway, if you now have suggestions on how to get my tool bar back, my menu and arrows and tabs to stay, I would be grateful. I have closed everything and reopened but not rebooted as yet. Actually trying to get some work done in the meantime!
  13. Thanks for the education! Breadcrumbs, eh? Clever, makes sense. In my lower left corner I have only ATX Community and ATX Community (Large Text) as options. I don't see a third option, the Clean Cut. I tried the F11 again to no avail. I wonder if that works only on one monitor or the primary monitor. I have my browser permanently open on my second monitor. The principal seems to address one of my issues, though, minimizing or hiding the extra browser stuff at the top. Maybe I will call my computer guy to see if he knows any tricks!
  14. Thanks again, Eric. Please don't spend any of your precious time on creating a smaller template or whatever when I am the only person with issues. Everyone else is quite pleased with these changes and I can certainly manage. What are "breadcrumbs" in this context? I don't really understand your last paragraph. My browser is full screen on the monitor now. When I press F11, nothing changes. I have conflicts occasionally with Firefox and haven't yet tried Chrome but may do so. Thanks again for your help.

  17. Thanks so much, Eric, for your generous reply. I tried the "ATX Community" option and that looks better although the entire screen is still is filled with the header and closed topics. In fact, when I change the resolution to 1024x768, those things still command 75+% of the screen. Sort of a manageable pain, at least to me. My monitors are both 17" flat panel. I do not have room for 2 larger sized monitors and really love having two monitors. There was good discussion on the value of 2 or even 3 or more in the last few months. Having a single larger monitor does not provide me with the flexibility of having 2 smaller ones. I have investigated the pros and cons of split screens vs dual monitors. So far, all of my software and what I think I will be using (but who knows?) until I retire works quite well, no problems. I have had to change the settings a couple of time when accessing outside content or certain websites at least to open. But then I change it back and all is well. As I said earlier, I understand that this is peculiar to me and my bad eyesight so don't expect the world or this site to revolve around my needs! I do appreciate all you have done and especially for offering additional suggestions. We'll see what happens but I will still be loyal to this forum even if I have to squint or use a magnifier!
  18. OldJack, you are a bolder person than I am. I also prefer the previous version but hesitated to express my opinion in the face of overwhelming praise by so many. It is cleaner looking but, for me, more difficult to navigate and manage. One problem is mine alone so I really cannot complain. Due to less than ideal vision, I have the resolution on my monitors set to 800x600. This setting really helps with virtually everything from internet sites to all my programs. Eric has addressed this by enlarging the entire site, I think, but now it overwhelms my screen. The top, pinned topics and header fill the entire screen so I always have to scroll down to see even the first topic. But, that's my problem, not everyone's issue. It's just that this new design exacerbates it. And I don't know if it is even possible to make this site smaller while allowing all others to remain the size that I can see. Whatever, the content is the most important aspect and to have access to it, well, I will manage with whatever form and format is provided. Thanks again to Eric and ALL who work so diligently to provide this incredible forum for all!

  21. Catherine and Karen Lee, you both have my sympathy. Make sure others do help take care of you both. I'm sure you are principal caregivers and now you need some payback. So far, so good at our house. I had my regular shot in early September. Here's hoping!
  22. Well, it isn't time to file the return just yet so I will keep checking. However, my son checked the WSJ and found: ""Taxpayers taking the credit will also have to furnish proof of purchase. According to Robert Dietz of the National Association of Home Builders, this will usually be a HUD-1 form." Since the word "usually" is present, I will keep my eyes open!

  24. Thanks, Marilyn. It didn't occur to me that "Board Settings" would include time. I guess I just am not curious or clever enough to think of checking each possible link. Thanks again! No more do do do do do do do do (Twilight Zone theme, of course!)
  25. Thanks for the confirmation. I just wasn't positive whether it was the county date or the HUD-1 date. So they lose by a week. Oh well, that wasn't a consideration when they decided to buy. It hadn't even come up in Congress. It just would have been so nice for them. Perhaps it will help with selling their other house now subsidized by the bank of Mom and Dad until it sells!
