  1. Yeah I have to agree with Taxed here. Something about this doesn't pass the smell test
  2. I think you are correct about this being of sign of things to come. I received some of the e-mail notifications of available updates to version .23 and nothing after that. Makes me wonder if Doug and TRX has closed shop but he is probably trying to avoid any additional negativity. Doug does appear to read this board and he should by all means do what ever he can in an attempt to save what is left if there is anything left at all. Asking most of us to renew next year is almost like an insult. However, if Doug would do the right thing and refund our money, it might be the only chance he would have to get us to even begin to think about viewing a demo of his software let alone purchasing it.
  3. WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!! Three returns transmitted and three accepted!!!!!!
  4. I think it would be good to add how many times a refund has been requested via e-mail, followed the cancellation policy of TRX, refused phone calls, placed on hold and left in the black hole for hours after stating you were calling to obtain a refund. Promises made by Doug and the fact that you can't use the software to complete a simple professional return. I think TRX should be liable for the costs incurred to purchase software from another vendor to be able to serve our customers as well as reimbursement for time spent learning a new program while that time could have been spent preparing tax returns along with fact that the inability of TRX to deliver a useable product has placed a financial hardship on all of us. JMHO
  5. I have almost completed 1065 that is rental properties. Granted I didn't have to do the balance sheet but, I really really like this program. The supporting statements are the best I have seen. Ease of creation and look very professional! I am so glad I changed!!!!!!!
  6. I don't think I can assist you with this. I am not a CPA yet. But thanks for asking.
  7. Scott, I transmitted three returns and have more to do. These are the test so if they are accepted I will join in with the celebration!
  8. Thanks WTax, I guess it is time to quit already. I re-read my post and you are correct, these fees are not for startup of the LLC. The land value has been separated and I will add the legal fees to the property acquistion costs. THANKS
  9. I am working on a partnerhsip that is soley in the business of residential rental property to produce income. This is an LLC and this year they bought twpo additional properties. The attorney fees charged at closing, are they deductible as an expense, or should they be added to the cost of the property? I am questioning amortization as a startup as well. These fees are necessary and ordinary for their course of business and to produce income so must first thought is deductible as an expense. Opinions please.
  10. Hopefully a thing of the past.
  11. If I were you, I wouldn't wait any longer and be glad you will only loose 50.00. I will recommend TaxSlayer Pro to you. They are not the cheapest option but again what do you want from your softrware? What kind of returns do you do? At this late time, I think you need to consider the learning curve. For me, the TaxSlayer Pro was very easy. There are a few pay per return options as well. TaxSlayer Pro can run anywhere from 825.00 to 995.00 depending on the circumstances surrounding how you pay for it and if you do alot of bank products or not. The contact information for my rep is below. mailto:[email protected]
  12. Scott that is good to know and Byron was my rep as well. The customer service is great and if things continue to go as they are, I think I will probably renew in the spring. I will transmit soon and I'll post how it goes.
  13. I have completed (9) individual returns since 3:00 this afternoon while the first two or three were a little rocky, the rest have gone very smooth. The conversion process was a breeze and all expected information has come forward just like it would have if I had used this software last year. Needless to say, I am very impressed. I have not transmitted any of these yet as I want to review them again before doing so. Has anyone else using this software done any transmitting yet?
  14. I agree we need a new forum or change the name anyway.
  15. I sincerely hope you don't trust any of these updates. You can't tell what all is screwed up that used to work or will never work right again. If anyone uses this software I think you are in for some real trouble from the IRS for a number of years to come. I wonder if the IRS could reject anything coming from TRX and refuse to recognize them as a transmitter and software provider. If they could that would really help stop alot of folks from getting into trouble.
  16. I am wondering if the class action or any other type of law suit will really get us anywhere. I don't think it is too hard for any of us to prove our case. Nobody would just go out and spend 1k plus to purchase tax preparation software the last week of January just to try something different. On an individual basis, I am sure affidavits signed by each other stating our position and outcome with the functionality of the software would weigh heavy. I'm pretty sure any judge would recognize that. Filing a law suit and winning it is just the beginning with no real guarantees we will ever collect on the judgement. I agree with Taxed on her comments regarding bankruptcy. Whether individual or class action, companies being pressured such as TRX is, would follow the bankruptcy route with the end result of going out of business. From my end of things, I only renewed the 299.00 package last spring and planned on upgrading to the premium package in January this year. I did this to try other software and to make a decision. I did choose to stay with TRX as I thought it would be TaxWorks like the rest of the folks who renewed in the spring only to get duped. So, I will pursue a refund as soon as I can but have no hopes of getting it. At this time, I have completed enough returns to pay for the TaxSlayer Pro that I bought to get up and running so I know I made the right move there. If a class action becomes available, I'll jump right in but for now, I am just going to concentrate on running my business and taking care of my clients. I don't have 300.00 to just flush down the toilet so saying cutting my losses and moving foward is a hard swallow but I may not have any other choice. Just know that what ever happens here count me in with the rest of you.
  17. Thanks for posting this. I purchased TaxSlayer two days ago and paid 995.00. I will call and question the deal you got and as to why I did not for the same package.
  18. Finally, it's a good feeling. Same here and still booking appointments for the weekend and next week as well with confindence. Glad I made the switch.
  19. FYI - My files were retreived yesterday afternoon by TaxSlayer Pro at 4:30 PM. 6:30 PM had them back, converted and installed in the program. Now, I am ready to go and booking appointments with confidence.
  20. Crank I would follow the instructions of sending back the CD and make sure that I sent it certified with return receipt request so they can't say they didn't get it or you didn't follow proper protocol. I like others, have e-mailed a formal request to Doug and have heard nothing. I think the instructions tell you to send the CD and correspondence to Karen Bills. The instructions are in my post titled TRX Cancellation Policy.
  21. Alot of us have done exactly as you. I hung in there longer than some, tried to remain positive and even made several attempts to stand behind Doug. While I haven't done the official refund request yet, I did e-mail him and as of 3:00 this afternoon, I haven't received a response. I haven't asked for anything that others here haven't asked before me. Nothing special expected but if we gave it a fair shot and some longer than others, the only fair thing for us is to issue us a refund. Or at the very least, we should expect some type of response from Doug as to what position he is goin to take with us.
  22. Give up and go to another software company before you drive youself insane. You'll worry about every return and when they get rejected you'll spend an excessive amount of time trying to figure out whats wrong, clients refunds will be later than expected and the rest just snowballs from there.
  23. Oops! Fat fingers "pushing"
  24. I'm not pusning the TaxSlayer Pro thing but it is a good option.
  25. Here is NC. the Attorney General's office is an excellent source. But I do agree with Mike, follow the procedures outlined to begin to obtain the refund and if you don't receive a refund, then proceed further. What is a fair time to wait for a refund? Immediately in my case. I say two to three weeks max. Opinions from others.
