  1. Square has no enrollment fee. There are only the processing fees.
  2. Square does not charge a monthly fee. There is a 2.7% charge for card swipes; it goes up to 3% for 'phone' orders wherein you keyin the c/c number.
  3. i have an ipad and an iPhone, and use Square; I have had no problems with it. it is possible to print reports, per charge, dailyreports, weekly reports, monthly reports, etc.
  4. What I read about update 12.19 was it is supposed to,give us the working versions, short and comprehensive, of the tax organizers. Lynn
  5. I would like the format for the k-1 inputs (where you enter recourse/nonrecourse/capital/ etc. for 1065 and 1120S to be vertical pages instead of the horizontal line.
  6. I am so glad I have not purchased any of Accountants World's products.
  7. Ahhh, now that depends. For clients for whom I had prepared the returns, and had all pertinent documentation, I have had 'no change' results. For clients who self prepared, ignored all requests for documentation, etc., not so good. In general, though, I have found Appeals very good to work with.
  8. Non attorneys MAY be admitted to Practice before the Tax Court, after they pass the rigorous and grueling Tax Court exam which is administered every two years in Washington DC. The pass rate is very low, about 4 - 6%. Enrolled Agents may represent the client once the Tax Court case is referred back to Appeals. Generally my clients, when filing their pro se tax court petitions, ask that for a case location at the local IRS Appeals Office. After the case is assigned a number, and sent to Appeals, the Appeals Officer has contacted me for appointment dates.
  9. you're right - I forgot . It's all good....... brain freeze !!!! THANKS
  10. I went into ATX 2012 to do quarterly payroll reports and all the payroll forms have disappeared. In fact, none of my payroll clients show in the client listing either. I rolled one over from prior year and no forms show up and when I tried to add them the payroll forms (941, for example) was not even available in the forms list. Either a major glitch in their system or they have modified their offerings, again without notice to their client. Needless to say, I am not pleased. Anyone else? Lynn
  11. I'd use the info on the 8829 (Office in Home Expenses for Schedule C) as a worksheet/template for the accountable plan. Lynn
  12. What program are you transitioning to?
  13. TaxScripts is such a great tool because it was developed by an Enrolled Agent, Jim Leimbach. To my knowledge, CCH only has the marketing rights to TaxScripts.
  14. there are many Enrolled Agents aged 80+ who are still working and very productive. One 80+ y/0 EA in Ohio just passed the US Tax Court Exam!!!
  15. B Jani - does your client's 1099-R reflect any federal withholding? There might be $4000 of federal tax withheld to explain the difference between the $20,000 per the 1099-R and $16,000 rolled over to the new account.
  16. KC and Eric - isn't it time to 'lock' this thread?
  17. I would vote if it would allow me to select more than one tax software program. I planned to renew with ATX with the expectation that it will improve over time. AND I also plan to renew the Ultra Tax that I purchased late February when I got so paranoid about ATX. Ultra Tax gave me a decent price with a 3-year lock. I do not have to renew Ultra Tax until November 2013.
  18. Ask for a discount - you will receive something more than their usual 10%. It probably won't be as much of a discount as you'd think they should agree to, and be forewarned the extra discount is off of their discounted amount, not off of full retail.
  19. It gets darker when you place your mouse over the word.
  20. Ah then, therein lies just one benefit of membership in NAEA. off my soap box now!!!
  21. An Enrolled Agent who is a MEMBER OF NAEA could contact NAEA for assistance with this. Lynn
  22. ATX is not approved by LDR to efile LA state corporate (or other entity) tax returns. Taxwise is; ATX is not, despite my years of begging them for this. So the federal entity returns are Efiled, LA entity returns are paper filed. for a couple of years LA mandates efiling of all extensions, individual and entity. .
  23. Look at Howell Client Accounting - www.Howellsoftware.com? Howell is very user friendly, easy to learn and to use, good value and also offers a 'demo' . Lynn Jacobs, EA Kenner, LA
