  1. Too late to edit my post - how do I find the school district # for Delta. I've gone down the list in ATX and don't see it (might be missing the forest for the trees !). Thanks, Lynn
  2. My client moved to Louisiana in 2012 from Ohio. He has a home in Delta, Ohio that he's been renting since he moved to Louisiana. In 2015 he thought he'd secured a better job back 'home' in Ohio and left Louisiana 4/1. The job didn't pan out (he moved prematurely) and he decided to stay in Ohio doing lesser jobs. in late November 2015 he secured a job with a former Louisiana employer and moved back to Louisiana just after Thanksgiving 2015. He has W2's from Louisiana and from Ohio, and sch C income which he states was earned in Ohio. He moved into his 'rental' house in Delta, Ohio. What Ohio forms should I be preparing? I've downloaded the Ohio IT-1040, IT-2023, IT-4NR. Do I need the IT-NRC? I see the Village of Delta does not have their forms available for efiling. I'll have to do that one by hand. All help, suggestions, tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Lynn
  3. Then, I would make the sale price equal to the adjusted basis so that no loss or gain is reflected on the return. Will that work in your client's situation?
  4. For the donor, In ATX there are choices of disposition methods, one of which might pertain to the donor - either converted to personal , or do not calculate gain or loss - to remove this property from the donor's depreciation schedule .
  5. Did the donee live in the house?
  6. Lion, while TN does not have a personal income tax that state does have a tax on interest and dividends over the magic threshold of $1,250. In my software, ATX, the information flows directly from schedule B to the TN return. The TN return may be e-filed and requires online payment via direct ppt debit. I am certain your software will also support completing and filing this form. Lynn
  7. in ATX click on 'tools', 'preparer/ERO manager'. Slide the page over on the preparer's line to the NYTPRIN Excl'. I am an EA and entered code 7. Hope this helps.
  8. What is the purpose of the travel trailer? If for an office, then I'd use the 39 years . If for personal use, i.e. to sleep in at night and eat his meals after work, then no depreciation. Caveat - totally unresearched.
  9. Cathy, I am the independent executrix for my mother who died last November. On 3/1 I took the plunge and e-filed her federal and state tax returns, both reflecting refunds. Both went through just fine and were accepted. lynn
  10. Look at the clergy worksheets in your software. Your client needs to provide you details of their housing costs. Does he have other unreimbursed expenses such as vestments, books, publications. Where does he prepare his sermons. Does he have a home office. Travel from the church to visit his parishioners. Do you have CFS Tax Tools? they have a clergy worksheet which I give yo my clergy clients. MAMalody will probably have more insights.
  11. Margaret - are you looking at the green section or the blue section or both? In the blue section boxes 3 and 5 are his social security equivalents. In the green section box 3 is what the employee paid into the RRR system. I use that and the simplified method to calculate the taxable amount. Box 4 and box 7 (at least for my client) are the same amount and I show these as the total amount of RRR received (akin to box 1 of a 1099-R). Then using the simplified method I calculate the taxable amount (akin to box 2 of a 1099-R). Does this help? If not, a call to the RRB might be in order - I have always found them to be most helpful - (877) 772-5772
  12. Hallelulah !!! The Louisiana corporate return is finally available - I just downloaded it. But, gosh darn it, the corporate EF forms aren't (and this will be the first year ATX is able to efile the Louisiana corporate return).

  13. might be your specific broker. I have already received my statements from Merrill lynch .
  14. Click on 'add form', elections. When the elections form opens up there's a tab at the bottom for 1065. The IRC sec 754 election is the second item on the page.
  15. Margaret - call me - 504-469-1025 - I'll walk you through it
  16. I feel the same way this year.
  17. I use virtru to encrypt emails - $48 a year (free for the client). I've had good remarks on it from my clients.
  18. Lion, my website is also via CCH Sitebuilder, but for me fileshare is NOT free. I wonder if it's free for you since you're a ProFx customer whereas since I am an ATX customer I must pay.
  19. I have my scanner software set up so that the faxes are forwarded to an email address, specific for the fax machine. That way I can go online, view the faxes, delete the ones that are junk, save whatever I think should be saved, and print only the pages I need.
  20. someone to clean your home? no office in home, no deduction. If OIH, then I would include in the OIH expenses and allocate accordingly.
  21. I had one or two - I think they paid the estimated taxes via credit card only once or twice; after they learned that the user fees were greater than the value of their points they went back to other ways to pay them.
  22. Thanks, Judy for that reminder. I usually don't see that situation.
  23. How old is this person? If under 25 or 65 or older no EIC.
