I left myself a nasty message complaining that I must be wrong because my refund was not as much as my cousin's and since we both wear the same brand of t-shirt and drink the same kind of beer, our refunds should be the same. I think I'll charge myself more so maybe I will go to a different preparer next year! I have not heard from Single Dad since April of last year...I think he may have moved away. If I recall correctly, he was considering that last year. But things are good here (consdering the crappy economy and all)....Just gearing up for another fun-filled season of taxes.

Happy Birthday, Ray....how ya liking this Ohio weather?
-
but I want BOTH, darn it! Thanks for confirming.....I have dealt with very few qualifying widow(er) situations (fortunately), so my personal taxes are slightly different this year.

Please let me know if I am really reading this correctly...It does not seem fair....Form 8880 (Credit for retirement savings contributions). The credit is allowed if income on 1040 Line 38 is less than $26,500.....$39,750 for head of household, and $53,000 married filing jointly....What about qualifying widower with dependent child? I personally fall into this status this year and it seems that I should get this credit (as my income was less than $39,750), but since I am not filing head of household, and my income is greater than $26,500....I am not getting it? If I change status to HOH, I get $200.00 retirement credit, but lose the better standard deduction for Qualifying widower....It seems to me that I should get the benefit of both....someone please explain so I will feel better.

I use ATX and I love that when I rub behind it's ear, it licks me

I paid extra for the "clown package"

Mine was delivered by a bunch of clowns in one of those little cars...It was oddly amusing and made the neighbors curious

Well...I am not married yet...just engaged. Fiance is working and living temporarily in Washington DC, but she is home one or two weekends each month. As far as new and exciting....Things are hopping here in Sidney. They fixed up thr Kroger and put in them fancy self-checkout things. Crazy Mary was in there a few nights ago trying to scan her dog and yelling "Price Check!". They took Mary away. Chaz (the guy who stands on the corner by Woody's Market and drinks warm Corona) told a girl she was purty and got arrested for sexual harrassment. I think there is more to the story, but Chaz is not spilling the beans yet. Lenny the Pirate finally came out of the closet and married some dude from Evansville and moved to Key West. The theme at the ceremony was "Rainbows". I was not there, but I heard that some members of the reception were throwing skittles instead of rice...and one went in Lenny's good eye (not the one with the patch). This pretty lady named Thelma moved in across the street from me but the police came and took her away...something about a domestic dispute involving a spatula...That could develope into a fun story as the tax season progresses!

This is almost exactly what I told her...but she requested that I get some opinions from fellow preparers.
-
Thanks....Now I find our that she did not really sell it....She inherited it in January.....never gor any appraisal or value estimate.....put money into repairs and paid utilities for 7 months. Then in August, the mobile home park informed her that it was too old and still not in good enough condition....they gave her two choices....pull it out of the park (would have cost her approx. $5,000) or simply let the park have it...she just walked away and let the park have it. So I am, not sure what I would use as a basis ...nor do I have a selling amount....How would you handle?

Client Inherited a mobile home and lot.....Invested some money into repairs and utilities with intention of renting it to someone. However, my client soon realized that the mobile home was in too bad of shape to repair sufficiently to rent out...so she had it sold for scrap value. Can she possibly claim the $900.00 in repairs and $250.00 in utilities as rental expenses? She never actually rented it to anybody, but that was here intention when paying these expenses.

I have been busy being engaged to the most wonderful woman in the world (in my humble opinion). I have been very busy with yardwork and honey-do items around the house that I could not get done during tax season. Ou trip to Key West was fun...but it is a VERY expensive place to eat and drink.... for two people, an average meal of salad, sandwich, side, and drink was $75.00....a nice "formal" meal for dinner for two averaged $120...but we had a blast and I asked her to marry me..and she said yes.

I now have a restraining order against Jarvis, so this is not gonna work
-
Oh KC...Please know I am praying for you!

My daughter got a new cell phone for her b-day...was gonna give old one to her friend after she deleted the contacts.....but before she could do that, it came up missing...Mr. Scratchy...aka Giant Raccoon must have taken it...and yes, my work number was in there.
-
OK...so I am at work and I receive the following text message from Giant Raccoon: "Its me in your attic and if you ever want to see your underwear again you must place a zip-loc baggie of reduced fat cheez-its on bottom tree branch in the back yard"
-
No....on his bratwurst....he has a small hibachi grill that he stole from my garage and is cooking meats in my attic
-
The Frikkin raccoon sent me a text message from the attic....."Need spicy mustard"
