My full time job is as a tax and cost accountant and shipping manager for a local manufacturing company.....Only do Income taxes for individuals on the side.....As soon as I am done, I actually get time to eat and sleep normally....and excercise to remove my annual tax-time weight gain....17 pounds this season....I got a lot of walking to do!

I thought I was done....Call from client...They "found" another W-2.....Now We gotta amend!....Oh well...more fee for me!

I have never done this before....usually helping clients until midnight on April 15.....But this year, my daughter comes first. We are spending the day on April 15th (and April 16th) visiting various colleges in Ohio. So instead of taxes on April 15, I will be at Kent State Univ. and Bowling Green State Univ. PRIORITIES

Most repeated phrase to clients this time of year

If I have to hear "Sorry I missed my Appointment, Mary....But I had a grape stuck in my nose".....One more time, I'm gonna scream # 1, I do not care what they have stuck in their respective noses. #2, I wish they would stop calling me Mary.....I'm not crazy (yet) and do not bathe in the fountains on the court square -
TRX Called - Now two of their Packages are ATX

I sent an e-mail to ATX sales requesting their opinion as to why I should not go with TRX...waiting to see what they have to say. -
TRX Called - Now two of their Packages are ATX
Janitor Bob replied to joelgilb's topic in General Chat
I have been corresponding with Carlos at TRX....he is saying that this is the excact same software I am using now with ATX MAX.....This just seems too good to be true......$299.00 instead of $1,068.00?! Am I a fool to jump at this or a fool not to? -
I installed the new version and my doorbell rang....It was a large man who looked like Dom Delouise holding a pinata in the shape of a donkey.....He shouted "Viva ATX" and handed my a jar of Chi Chi's mild salsa...Then he ran down the street. I must say, ATX, I am confused about this one!

TRX Called - Now two of their Packages are ATX

I don't get it....If it is the SAME SOFTWARE that I get currently through ATX (I paid $1,068 for MAX)...Why would anyone buy from ATX instead of TRX? -
This entire April Fool's thing is just one of the reasons that I love this board and everyone involved with it....That people like myself were so quick to scream at the possibility of losing it speaks volumes. and lord knows we all needed that stress-relief yesterday (well relief AFTER I read the posts and realized it was a joke)

Correct....and it will probably be delayed quite a bit.....They should check with the bank , though....I had a client do this two years ago.....The client had just recently closed the account....When IRS attempted to deposit client's refund in the closed account, the bank opened it back up and allowed the deposit.....client was expecting it to be mailed (as I told them that is what would happen)...He called me two months later and said that it was never mailed, so he called the bank....they had it in the old account the entire time he was waiting! Apparently, he never looked at a bank statement for that account!

I do the same thing here

If cash basis, the expense is recognized when paid...so it would be a 2008 advertising expense

Dude that was not cool....I so fell for that I must admit, though...good one!

FYI....over two years since my first wife's death...and I still received a 1099c...for debt that was cancelled almost two years ago....It took them that long to send 1099c!

You will need the Ohio IT-1040, Ashtabula city return (ci.ashtabula.oh.us) You may also need a school district return, OH SD-100....You will need client's Ohio address then go to The lookup web site (thefinder.tax.ohio.gov) to see what school district they lived in and if that district had a school tax.

Can anyone share their experience with this antivirus?

Thanks to all! I have ben very busy and not able to post much. Crazy Mary and Chaz (the guy on the corner by Woody's Market that drinks warm corona) got in an ugly fight at the Wal-Mart over a box of Little Debbie Zingers....Its a long ugly tale...suffice it to say I have never seen a loaf of bread used that way before.

Old boogers never go away...they just get hard and crusty

I was honestly scared that I would cause her to have a heart attack. She is one of these clients who listens to tax advice from her mechanic and hairdresser....Obviously did not contact me. During our first brief meeting, she mentioned a bunch of credits (education, first time homebuyer, etc) that she had heard about that she thought would almost take care of her so she would only owe a small amount, if anything.....Obviously she really did not believe that or she would have been more shocked at my news. She also mentioned something that two other clients also mentioned regarding 401k withdrawals. She said..."I took a withdrawal from my 401k, but it is a "hardship" withdrawal" so not taxable" What the Heck is a "hardship" withdrawal....real or conjured up by Willie at the auto-shop?

I called her today and broke the bad news....she was not a bit surprised...It was only a couple thousand more than she expected. She just asked me to include a Installment Request form so she could pay most of it now and the remainder over several months.

I am running Windows XP Pro, SP3 (no blue screen problems) My problems started when I got a new computer and reinstalled ATX 2006, 2007, 2008.....everything seemed to go fine...and everything seems to function perfectly....except for this annoying rollover problem
-
I am having a similar problem that just started the beginning of March...I could roll over some returns from 2007, but not open the return that was rolled over in the 2008 program.....I can finally roll over and open the return IF id do the following: Close the 2008 ATX program Open the 2007 ATX program Update the 2007 ATX program Open the 2007 return Save the 2007 return, then close it close the 2007 ATX program Open the 2008 ATX program Rollover the return This gets really time-comsuming as it must be repeated with EVERY return I roll over.
-
That is what happened....If you have updated the ATX program and you then open a return....even if you do not change anything., it will cause the e-file status to change to rejected......it was never transmitted.

I still think I will wait until I know she is at work and just leave her a message.

That is an amazing photo....one cannot help but smile when they look at it
